An open Letter to Mitt Romney

Dear Governor Romney,

I am writing you today to ask you if you are actually interested in becoming the 45^th president of the United States, or if you are just stroking your ego? I ask this since you don’t seem to be willing to go after the Barack Obama and his record of the last 3½ years.

Please allow me to offer you some advice. I understand you might not take it, but I’m going to give it to you in any case.

First, remove your thumbs. Take one thumb from your mouth and the other out of your ass. You need to start fighting back against Obama’s and his minions attacks against you and your record. Just sitting there and taking it is one of the reasons former president George W. Bush got hammered in the polls when he should have laced into the Media.

Second. The majority of the media, commonly referred to as the Main Stream Media, is NOT your friend. They are Obama’s friend and they will continue to do everything they can to get him reelected. This includes outright lying about your record. There is a reason the MSM is also known as the Obama Steno Pool. There are media types that will support you, but they are few and far between.

Now you have made extensive use of the “New Media” such as Twitter and YouTube. This is good, but you MUST also advertise on the Old School systems. Granted, it is early yet and I do not recommend that you spend large sums of money this early, but dropping a few bills here and there in key areas of the nation could pay off down the road.

For instance, Colorado. They have been suffering under some of the worst forest fires in memory. People have lost their homes and in a few terrible cases, their lives. One of the major problems with fighting the fires is that the number of tanker aircraft is insufficient to help beat down the flames. This is a documented fact and here is some of the documentation for you to review:

Nearly half of the federal government’s firefighting air tankers are siting idle at a California airport, grounded by the Obama administration in a contract dispute just weeks before wildfires swept through Texas killing a mother and her child, and destroying 100,000 acres.

The massive blazes forced Texas Gov. and Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry to abruptly call off a campaign appearance in South Carolina earlier this week to respond to the crisis, and may force him to cancel his first debate appearance Wednesday night.

The U.S. Forest Service terminated the contract with Aero Union five weeks ago to operate seven P-3 Orions that are critical to the agency’s firefighting mission, leaving the federal government with 11 tankers under contract to help battle more than 50 large uncontained wildfires now burning nationwide.

Now, Obama happened to stop by on his way to a campaign fundraiser. (It was on the way) If I were you, I would go there for a few days and publicly ask a few question. Questions such as:

“How did this get out of control so quickly? Why didn’t the firefighters have the resources they needed to contain the fire much sooner? Who is responsible for making sure the firefighters HAVE the resources they need?”

Make certain you have answers to those question in hand and ready for the Obama Steno Pool. I would also recommend that you say that “Our administration will take corrective action to at least try and mitigate fires.” Have a few people who actually understand everything that is involved nearby so they can field detailed questions you won’t have the answers to. Be honest and say that you don’t have all the answers, but that we will have people available who do.

Personal Pronouns. Avoid them like the plague. Whenever referring to your administration, say “We are” or “We will,” not “I am” and “I will.” Use personal pronouns only when taking personal responsibility for screw up. Do NOT use the “Bob Dole” method when referring to yourself when needed. It will make you look imperious, not to mention silly. Always spread the credit around but take the blame when needed. This is dead opposite of what President Obama does. In his mind, everything is about him unless it goes wrong, then he will blame everyone else.

Now, about those issues. Right now, the biggest issue out there is Obamacare and the blatant judicial activism of Chief Justice Roberts in rewriting the law so he could make it could make it constitutional. You have already said that you will repeal it and replace it. A nice slogan. How about some details on just what you plan to replace it with?

Because you stupidly signed the same basic bill into law in Massachusetts as governor, you have damaged yourself on this issue. You can get around this by saying that recent history has shown that it isn’t working as designed, and that in hindsight you should have vetoed it. You can say that it looked like it would work when you signed it into law. Flat out say you made a mistake and have learned from it. Use the personal pronoun here. Take responsibility for it and say here is what we should have done. I made a few suggestion on this the other day. Why don’t you read my post on “If Obamacare is repealed, what then?” for a few ideas? Play this right and you can pound Obama into the concrete.

Another thing. STAY ON MESSAGE! Make sure you and everyone on your team knows what your message to the voters is and DON’T DEVIATE! This doesn’t mean not changing the message when needed, but have a process in place so that everyone on your team can get their stories straight.

One thing you need to do is deal with the loose cannons in your campaign. Take Eric Fehrnstrom…PLEASE! I know you won’t fire him, although he needs to be pushed out the door. If that isn’t going to happen, then I suggest taking him to an orthodontist and having his jaw wired shut. Then superglue his lips together and as an added precaution, staple them. Lock him in a broom closet where no one can see him. Throw Norm Coleman in the same closet, then nail the door shut. You CAN NOT AFFORD THESE ERRORS!

Now on to jobs, and I don’t mean Steve Jobs. He’s dead and still supporting Obama. You need to come up with a basic plan on how to fix the mess Obama, the Democrats and to be honest, a fair number of Republicans have made of the economy. I would recommend stating the following:

1. Make the Bush tax cuts permanent
2. Investigate a complete and total rewrite of the Tax Code, making it simpler to comply with and understand.
3. List the government agencies you would want to close down as detrimental to the economy as well as constitutionally questionable. I would say that you will look into disbanding the EPA in it’s current form and reviewing all their very questionable regulations.
4. Announce that your administration will review all non-defense employees, (Defense is a different topic) and inform them that they need to justify their jobs. Do not hesitate to say you will lay people off. Also announce a full review of the benefits they receive.
   4a. End unions in government. This was an executive order signed by JFK I believe. Point to what is happening in Wisconsin since they got rid of collective bargaining and other things.

These are just a few ideas on repairing the economy. You should have some really bright people on staff who can come up with more and hopefully better ideas.

Now as to the actual campaign. It can be summed up as “ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!” Also it’s going to get really dirty. I would recommend that you avoid attacking Obama personally. Let your underlings minions and people like me do that. We’re expendable. On occasion, if Obama insults you, do a mild retort, but let others in your campaign hammer the living crap out of him.

One thing you can really use is how corrupted the Justice Department has become under Holder and Obama. Holder’s refusal to hand over documents for congressional oversight, his recent contempt of congress charge and one to two dead federal agents as well as hundreds of dead Mexicans is a large stationary target. I would talk about it in general, along with all the other corruption in that department, then hand it over to someone who can go into specifics on what needs to be done to clean out that rats nest. People want to know that they will get a fair shake from the judicial system, and right now, it isn’t happening. Holder’s refusal to go after people for voter intimidation or hate crimes if they are black is well known. USE THIS! Don’t forget how the Justice Department is attacking states that try to clean out and verify their voting rolls. Simply say that in your administration, One person, one vote is the rule, not the exception…for Democrats. (Humorous attacks can work very well)

And then there is the problem of illegal immigration. Do NOT pay any attention to the Beltway Bandits and the Washington/New York elites. They want open borders so they can have a steady supply of low paid serfs to do their laundry. People in this country, citizens and legal aliens want the border secured and illegal immigration stopped. Illegal aliens that are caught need to be shipped out asap, not given multiple hearings. Simply announce that if an illegal alien is caught in this country, they will be deported as soon as logistically possible and forbidden from ever returning.

As to amnesty for illegals? That will get you politically dead. The only amnesty I think would work is for illegals brought here as children by their parents and who have otherwise totally assimilated. They still have to leave, but once they have returned to the nation of their birth, they may apply for admittance and be granted a green card with minimal to no delay. Most Americans do not hold the sins of the parents against the children. However, this doesn’t mean giving one to some teen who arrived two weeks prior when he was shipped back. The children have to be pretty much assimilated and think like Americans.

Saying all this, you also need to have a plan to fix the immigration problem. It is incredibly difficult for people who want to come to this country legally to do so. The entire system needs a total and complete overhaul. My recommendation is to put together a small team and have them work on a basic plan you can present during the election.

Now, you also need to stop playing it safe. This election is literally for the soul of the United States. If Obama wins a second term, he will utterly destroy what remains of our freedoms and liberties in his goal of implementing a socialist society. You were governor of Massachusetts. You know damn well that politics isn’t bean ball, it’s a blood sport. Stop treating it like a gentleman’s game of golf. Break out the baseball bats. You have a real creditability problem with the TEA party people and others who want the government reduced in scale and power. Playing it safe is not the way to win them over. Stop worrying about this group or some other group. Start treating the voters as Americans, not as hyphenated Americans.

Finally, you need to also think about the down ticket races. These are the ones for the Senate, the House as well as the various state races. The Great Shellacking of 2010 that happened to the Democrats can and should be repeated. Help as many as you can. The 2012 election should be remembered as the one where Obama and the Democrats were crushed at the polls in a defeat not seen since Ronald Reagan. If you manage to lose this one, it will probably mean the end of the Republican party and the rise of a new party at it’s expense….provided the country manages to hold together for another four years of Obama.
