Neil Armstrong has taken the final step for a man

Good day all. There is some sad news that has just come out. The first man to ever walk on another world, Neil Armstrong, has passed away at the age of 82. On July 16th, the Saturn V rocket ((The Saturn V)) carrying Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin lifted off from Cape Kennedy.

After a 4 day journey, Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the surface of the moon. On July 21st Neil Armstrong left the Lunar Module and stepped off with this phrase:

“That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind”

If you listen to the recording of his statement, you will not that he forgot to say the “A” when referring to “a man.” I remember that day clearly. I was but a small lad, but I stayed up most of the night watching Walter Cronkite ((Walter Cronkite)), Chet Huntley ((Chet Huntley)) and David Brinkley ((David Brinkley)) reporting on the moon landing.

Neil Armstrong was one of the Greatest Americans in History. They don’t make people like him very often. He will be missed.
