Part of the back story was the weather, which was actually entering into a mini ice age due to a “Maunder Minimum.”

We won’t go into the plot of the book, it’s far to varied and downright scary how close Mr. Ringo’s fictional story is to what is actually happening today. Yeah, he did get the president wrong, but not much else.

I saw our first snow 10 days ago. This is the earliest I can remember seeing it snow in this area. Farmers have been complaining about shorter growing seasons, and I anticipate my heating bill to be much higher this year due to usage. (We won’t go into the costs of Crap and Tax)

Global Warming is not about science, it’s about a new religion. People following this religion are as fanatical about it as those who strap on explosive belts and blow themselves up for “Allah.”

The actual science now being done is showing what a load of horse manure Global Warming is. Every day new information comes out how the original “Scientists” and I use that term loosely, basically made up their data. They either didn’t use a large enough sample or totally misunderstood what they saw in the first place.

These “Scientists” then refuse to submit their findings for peer review and attack anyone who disagrees with them. Al Gore was notorious for attacking anyone who dared disagree with him when he was a U.S. Senator.

The Global Warming fanatics have managed to get their disciples into positions of power. One of the fanatics is the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Carol Browner.

Carol Browner first came to notice under the Clinton Administration. She was notorious for abusing her authority and then covering up her antics. Back in late 2008 when it looked like she was going to be put in charge of the EPA, Columnist Michelle Malkin wrote an article on her. She was trying to warn our elected officials just how corrupt Browner is. Of course, they didn’t listen. Now Browner is starting to impose her ideas on the nation.

Carol Browner and her minions at the EPA are apparently trying to do an end run and impose their version of Cap & trade. She is in the process of destroying the coal industry in this country through massive over regulation. She intends to regulate carbon dioxide.

Ok people! Stop breathing and polluting the Earth!

Carol Browner fits in perfectly with the Obama Administration. She is a socialist and despises this country and everything it stands for. She is a high priestess of Global warming and will crucify any non-believers who dare oppose her.

CO2 is a gas that is required for life to exist on this planet. The planet has been here four and a half billion years. We’ve been here, what, a hundred thousand? Maybe two hundred thousand? And we’ve only been engaged in heavy industry for a little over two hundred years. Two hundred years versus four and a half billion. And we have the CONCEIT to think that somehow we’re a threat? That somehow we’re gonna put in jeopardy this beautiful little blue-green ball that’s just a-floatin’ around the sun?

The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through all kinds of things worse than us. Or how about those people in Kilowaia, Hawaii, who built their homes right next to an active volcano, and then wonder why they have lava in the living room.

The planet will be here for a long, long, LONG time after we’re gone, and it will heal itself, it will cleanse itself, ’cause that’s what it does. It’s a self-correcting system. The air and the water will recover, the earth will be renewed, and if it’s true that plastic is not degradable, well, the planet will simply incorporate plastic into a new pardigm: the earth plus plastic. The earth doesn’t share our prejudice towards plastic. Plastic came out of the earth. The earth probably sees plastic as just another one of its children. Could be the only reason the earth allowed us to be spawned from it in the first place. It wanted plastic for itself. Didn’t know how to make it. Needed us. Could be the answer to our age-old egocentric philosophical question, “Why are we here?” Plastic…a******.

So, the plastic is here, our job is done, we can be phased out now. And the planet can defend itself in an organized, collective way, the way a beehive or an ant colony can. A collective defense mechanism. The planet will think of something. What would you do if you were the planet? How would you defend yourself against this troublesome, pesky species? Let’s see… Viruses. Viruses might be good. They seem vulnerable to viruses. And, uh…viruses are tricky, always mutating and forming new strains whenever a vaccine is developed. Perhaps, this first virus could be one that compromises the immune system of these creatures. Perhaps a human immunodeficiency virus, making them vulnerable to all sorts of other diseases and infections that might come along. And maybe it could be spread sexually, making them a little reluctant to engage in the act of reproduction.

Well, that’s a poetic note. And it’s a start.
