Now that you have stopped laughing, allow me to explain. First, I have not gone barking mad. There are a few people who think Obama and other presidents, should be allowed to run for more then two terms. I don\u2019t happen to be one of them.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In this case, we have an editorial written by one Professor Jonathon Zimmerman ((Jonathan Zimmerman)), Ph.D. Professor Zimmerman teaches at New York University. Taking a quick look at his bio, it\u2019s pretty obvious this clown has no clue what is going on outside of his ivory tower ((The Ivory Tower<\/a>)). He opined in the November 28th<\/sup> edition<\/a>, (When they knew no one would be paying attention), of the Washington Post that Obama should be allowed to run for a third term. Here are the details with a few choice comments from yours truly.<\/p>\n

In 1947, Sen. Harley Kilgore (D-W.Va.) condemned a proposed constitutional amendment that would restrict presidents to two terms. \u201cThe executive\u2019s effectiveness will be seriously impaired,\u201d Kilgore argued on the Senate floor, \u201c as no one will obey and respect him if he knows that the executive cannot run again.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been thinking about Kilgore\u2019s comments as I watch President Obama, whose approval rating has dipped to 37? percent in CBS News polling<\/a> \u2014 the lowest ever for him<\/a> \u2014 during the troubled rollout of his health-care reform. Many of Obama\u2019s fellow Democrats have distanced themselves from the reform<\/a> and from the president. Even former president Bill Clinton has said<\/a> that Americans should be allowed to keep the health insurance they have.<\/p>\n

Or consider the reaction to the Iran nuclear deal<\/a>. Regardless of his political approval ratings, Obama could expect Republican senators such as Lindsey Graham<\/a> (S.C.) and John McCain (Ariz.) to attack the agreement. But if Obama could run again, would he be facing such fervent objections<\/a> from Sens. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.)? Probably not. Democratic lawmakers would worry about provoking the wrath of a president who could be reelected. Thanks to term limits, though, they\u2019ve got little to fear.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Lets take this apart a little bit at a time, shall we? First, with regards to Iran, only a moonbat who has never worked outside of academia would think that Congress would roll over on Iran. They know that if Iran gets nuclear weapons and a means to deliver them, Israel and the United States, and possible Europe, are going to start sprouting mushroom clouds. As to Graham and McCain? Obviously, he hasn\u2019t been paying attention to how much their constituents want to string the pair of them up.<\/p>\n

Then we have the \u201cTroubled Rollout\u201d as Prof. Zimmerman refers to the disaster that is Obamacare. If he thinks that Obama might actually consider a repeal of that mess because he wants a third term, he might want to have a brain scan done. Of course, they will have to remove his head from his ass before they do the scan. Obama is a doctrinaire socialist as well as a megalomaniac. He doesn\u2019t care what other think, and as we are seeing from the recent scandals, is not above using various government agencies to suppress opposition votes, (IRS scandal), as well as rigging unemployment numbers.<\/p>\n

Nor does Obama have to fear the voters, which might be the scariest problem of all. If he chooses, he could simply ignore their will. And if the people wanted him to serve another term, why shouldn\u2019t they be allowed to award him one?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hey doofus! He was ignoring the will of the people when he rammed through Obamacare in the first place! If he decided to run again, we know that he would have the Main Stream Media, such as the newspaper your editorial has been printed in, watching his back and doing everything to cover up for him. If he wanted a third term, he would get it.<\/p>\n

The first president to openly challenge the two-term tradition was Theodore Roosevelt, who ran for a third term as president in 1912 on the Bull Moose ticket. When he stepped down in 1908, Roosevelt pledged not to seek a third term; reminded of this promise in 1912, he said that he had meant he would not seek a \u201cthird consecutive term.\u201d The New York Times called Roosevelt\u2019s explanation a \u201cpitiful sophistication,\u201d and the voters sent Woodrow Wilson to the White House.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The voters bounced him for that and several other reasons. Considering what a dirtbag and outright racist the Democrat Woodrow Wilson was, we might have been better off with a third term fro TR. Still, at that time, people generally thought \u201cTwo terms was good enough for George Washington, it\u2019s good enough for TR!\u201d<\/p>\n

Only in 1940, amid what George Washington might have called a \u201cgreat emergency,\u201d did a president successfully stand for a third term. Citing the outbreak of war overseas and the Depression at home, Democrats renominated Franklin D. Roosevelt. They pegged him for a fourth time in 1944 despite his health problems, which were serious enough to send him to his grave the following year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

FDR would probably have run and won a third and fourth term even if Hitler and Nazi Germany didn\u2019t exist. He had a tremendous propaganda machine, otherwise he would have been bounced out after only one term. His New Deal and other economic policies were a disaster for the nation. Not unlike those of the current administration that Prof. Zimmerman is so enamored with.<\/p>\n

To Republicans, these developments echoed the fascist trends enveloping Europe. \u201cYou will be serving under an American totalitarian government before the long third term is finished,\u201d warned Wendell Wilkie, Roosevelt\u2019s opponent in 1940. Once the two-term tradition was broken, Wilkie added, nobody could put it back together. \u201cIf this principle dies, it will be dead forever,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He was right of course. FDR would have kept running and winning until he died in office. Oh wait, that was just what the Progressive Elitist and his socialist cronies did.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why the GOP moved to codify it in the Constitution in 1947, when a large Republican majority took over Congress. Ratified by the states in 1951, the 22nd<\/sup> Amendment was an \u201cundisguised slap at the memory of Franklin D. Roosevelt,\u201d wrote Clinton Rossiter ((Clinton Rossiter<\/a>)), one of the era\u2019s leading political scientists. It also reflected \u201ca shocking lack of faith in the common sense and good judgment of the people,\u201d Rossiter said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I did a quick search of Rossiter and he was also another pointy headed academic who never dealt with the real world. His entire career was in academia. I would also suggest that he utterly failed to understand that the only way the 22nd<\/sup> Amendment was ratified is that the state legislators talked to their constituents and figured out that they wanted it. If they had been opposed to it, they would have let their Reps know and the Amendment would have failed. Why those dirty, ignorant masses! How dare they tell their betters what to do!<\/p>\n

He was right. Every Republican in Congress voted for the amendment, while its handful of Democratic supporters were mostly legislators who had broken with FDR and his New Deal. When they succeeded in limiting the presidency to two terms, they limited democracy itself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No, he, like you, was dead wrong. They had seen the mess FDR made of things and just how tyrannical he actually was. I would think a Professor of History would have studied FDR\u2019s dictatorial tendencies. I guess you forgot about his attempt to pack ((The Court Packing Plan<\/a>)) the Supreme Court ((Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937<\/a>)) when they wouldn\u2019t rule the way he wanted? Oh wait, I forgot that you are one of those who worships the ground FDR rolled his wheel chair over ((FDR and Polio<\/a>)).<\/p>\n

It\u2019s time to put that power back where it belongs. When Ronald Reagan was serving his second term, some Republicans briefly floated the idea of removing term limits so he could run again. The effort went nowhere, but it was right on principle. Barack Obama should be allowed to stand for re election just as citizens should be allowed to vote for \u2014 or against \u2014 him. Anything less diminishes our leaders and ourselves.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When Reagan completed his second term, he learned that he was at the beginning stages of Alzheimer\u2019s Disease. He knew he would have been unfit to serve a third term even if the opportunity was there to do so. You see, Reagan, unlike FDR or Woodrow Wilson ((Woodrow Wilson\u2019s incapacity<\/a>)), was an honorable man and would not have tried to hide the mental degradation that horrible illness creates. (FDR\u2019s physical infirmity due to Polio did not affect his mental judgment)<\/p>\n

You will also note something not mentioned by Professor Zimmerman in his demand to allow his hero, Barack, (The Perfect One), Obama to run for a third term. That would be repealing the 22nd<\/sup> Amendment. His opinion piece makes it seem that he just wants to ignore that amendment and let Obama run. Of course, like most Moonbats…Ok, ALL Moonbats, Zimmerman probably considers the Constitution to be an archaic document that no one can possibly understand ((WashPost’s Ezra Klein Laments ‘Confusing’ Nature of Our Old Constitution<\/a>)).<\/p>\n

Now, there is also another story in the Washington Post<\/a> that makes me think there is more going on here than a Moonbat showing what an over-educated idiot he is. According to the Post:<\/p>\n

Obama has raised the possibility that he might remain a resident of the capital after his lease on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. expires in January 2017.<\/p>\n

In an interview this week with Barbara Walters of ABC News, Obama and the first lady, Michelle, said they may live in Washington beyond their time in the White House to allow their younger daughter, Sasha, to graduate from Sidwell Friends School.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hmm, Now if Obama could renew that lease for another four years, not to mention the really cool bennies that come with that lease, (Unlimited travel on Air Force One, Tee times at the finest golf courses any time he wants to play a round, all the sycophants in the media bowing down to him), I could see him going for a third term. Then, of course, there will be the inevitable, \u201cWe need to stay longer for the girls collage education at Georgetown University\u201d and then \u201cWell they both want to get married in the White House, so I think I\u2019ll stay on a little longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Allow me to explain this to you in a way even one as educated as yourself, Professor Zimmerman, will understand. HELL NO! There is no way in HELL we will allow the repeal of the 22nd<\/sup> Amendment. In fact, a large segment of the people think we should look at limiting terms for members of the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the judicial branch. As usual, you and everyone in your little circle of friends have no idea what is going on out here in \u201cFlyover Country.\u201d We are angry, and we are rapidly reaching the point of \u201cWe aren\u2019t going to take it anymore! Where\u2019s my gun?\u201d<\/p>\n

Now why don\u2019t you be a Dear and just slither back into your classroom and leave things like running the country for the grownups to handle?<\/p>\n
