Normally, I check out the upcoming films to see what I might be interested in paying money to watch. Like most people, I will give a pass to most of what’s coming out. It’s very rare for me to decide to actively avoid a movie, but there is one now coming out that I absolutely will not see under any circumstances.

This includes someone else paying for it, or even if I’m offered money to go see it. The movie that is upcoming that has set off all my alarm bells is the movie “47 Ronin” starring Keanu Reeves. Now before I start ripping this apart, a little background. Like most Americans who are somewhat familier with the story of the 47 Ronin, the movie we all remember is the 1962 film version directed by Hiroshi Inagaki starring Toshiru Mifune ((Japanese Actor Toshiru Mifune)), titled Chushingura: Hana no Maki, Yuki no Maki in Japan, and called the 47 Ronin in America.

The movies, with the exception of the current one, are all based on the Japanese story of 47 actual Samurai ((The Story of the 47 Ronin)) who lost their lord when he was forced to commit Seppuku ((Seppuku)). This is an actual occurrence and happened around 1701 in Japan. The Samurai, now considered Ronin ((Ronin)) since they had no lord, considered what happened to their lord to be dishonorable and plotted their revenge. When they finally carried out their revenge and killed the lord who caused their lord to commit Seppuku, they surrendered to authorities and were convicted of his murder. They were allowed to commit Seppuku rather then be executed as common criminals.

This is a very brief synopsis and I recommend you research the story. It is considered in Japanese culture as emblematic of the loyalty, sacrifice, persistence, and honor that people should preserve in their daily lives. From what I have seen of the previews from Keanu Reeves version, the Japanese people should go after him and collect HIS head for dishonoring the 47 Ronin. For good measure, they should add the head of the Director, Carl Rinsch, and the writers as well.

Just watching the trailer, knowing what the story is actually about, makes me sick. Watch the trailer and see for yourself.

[youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8cKdDkkIYY’]

This story bears absolutely no connection to what actually happened. It’s like retelling the story of the Alamo and skipping the parts involving the Mexican Army, Santana, Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett and putting the Alamo in a shopping mall in Toledo. It just isn’t going to work at all, not to mention just how insulting it would be to those who died there on both sides. Heck, even Hitler is upset at this pile of garbage calling itself a movie.

[youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_N4TolEFHCQ’]

No, I am not going to waste my time watching this train wreck. From what I’ve read, early reviews from Japan are not being kind to this fiasco. Here’s hoping it flops totally and Keanu Reeves actually does commit Seppuku to atone for accepting the part.

Thatisall

~The Angry Webmaster~

(1 votes, average: 1.00 out of 5)
Loading...

Good day all.
