If he weren\u2019t the nation\u2019s oldest governor, a ripe 75, Jerry Brown<\/a> would automatically be counted among serious Democratic candidates for president in 2016.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Only among the editorial staff of the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times and other like minded, (Read Hardcore members of the Lunatic Left), periodicals. The rest of America, not so much.<\/p>\n He boasts a household name, an impressive list of accomplishments in the country\u2019s most populous state \u2014 a state some once deemed ungovernable \u2014 glowing national media coverage and a deep familiarity with the pitfalls and rigors of a White House<\/a> bid, having run three times before.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Let\u2019s take a look at this statement shall we? To begin with, Brown does have a lot of name recognition but I doubt he really wants to revisit his nickname of \u201cGovernor Moonbeam\u201d earned from his first term as governor. As to his list of accomplishments? Well, lets see… There is the train to nowhere he wants to spend $100 billion on that no one wants. The unions are out of control and that can be laid on Brown\u2019s first administration. The state is bankrupt and has been stiffing it\u2019s vendors, there are a number of cities that have gone into bankruptcy with more going every year, and taxes are so high that businesses and people are fleeing the state. The good news is that the population levels appear to be climbing as all the illegals and major contingents of the Free Stuff Army move in. Yep, he\u2019s certainly made a number of notable achievements.<\/p>\n Now, some are pushing Brown to consider another try for the White House, even if it means taking on Hillary Rodham Clinton<\/a>, the prohibitive, if still undeclared, Democratic favorite.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Jerry is precisely what America needs,\u201d said Rose Ann DeMoro, the leader of a national nurses union and a strong political ally of Brown. \u201cHe has the courage of his convictions, which we haven\u2019t seen in a very long while.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Hillary Clinton may not run. She has even more baggage today then she did in 2008 including the deaths of an ambassador and three others in Benghazi. It isn\u2019t beyond the realm of possibility she could be criminally charged over that and her so called \u201cTestimony\u201d to congress. As to Brown\u2019s \u201cCourage of his convictions?\u201d Please, don\u2019t make me laugh. His convictions have cost Californians billions of dollars with his blatant incompetence.<\/p>\n Brown, who is up for reelection in 2014, has not yet stated his intention to seek another term, though he has raised millions of dollars for what would appear to be an easy campaign<\/p><\/blockquote>\n He has a problem. California is on the verge of economic collapse. The legislature has decided that the United States Constitution no longer applies to California nor do any federal laws they don\u2019t like. People are really angry in large areas of California and with all the issues out there, Brown may not want to be around for the inevitable collapse.<\/p>\n The Titanic hitting the iceberg was just a glitch<\/p><\/div>\n On the flip side, he could easily win reelection. Why? Who but the most masochistic person would want to be in the hot seat when all the chickens came home to roost and California collapses?<\/p>\n The governor has widely touted California\u2019s comeback and his record as a model for the rest of the country and, especially, a dysfunctional Washington, D.C. With support from an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature \u2014 and a combination of spending cuts and voter-approved tax hikes \u2014 Brown has brought the state\u2019s deficit-ridden budget under control, overhauled the education finance system to benefit poorer students, pushed through major environmental initiatives and reaped the benefits \u2014 job growth, an improved housing market \u2014 of a slow but steady economic recovery.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What recovery? I seem to recall a company that makes a BBQ sauce was basically ordered to close because people didn\u2019t like the aroma. Other companies are fleeing the state in droves. As to the tax hikes? Those were pushed through by the Free Stuff Army. They usually don\u2019t pay taxes, they just suck the money out of the producers. As to job growth? I haven\u2019t seen any, unless it\u2019s the number of formally full time positions that have been dropped to Part time. In that case, yes, since they now have to get two people to do the job of one person, I guess you could say that there was a net increase of jobs. Of course, once Brown and the legislature jack the minimum wage to $25\/hr, all those jobs will be ended and those people will be replaced by robots.<\/p>\n \u201cThings happen in California that are not happening in Washington,\u201d Brown said during an October appearance at an electric-vehicle expo in San Francisco. \u201cWe can do a lot of things in California to shift the [political] climate throughout the whole country.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n And their idea of shifting the climate is to force people and businesses to toe the Party Line. California has a long history of shoving their rules and regulations on the rest of America and being allowed to get away with it by the Federal Government. The problem is, the rest of the country is now starting to tell California to shove it up where the sun don\u2019t shine.<\/p>\n In a victory lap a few weeks later, he traveled to the nation\u2019s capital and ticked off the bills he had signed, including immigration-friendly legislation and laws promoting green energy. \u201cWe didn\u2019t wait for the federal government,\u201d he crowed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n And lets see, California\u2019s immigration laws are in direct violation of federal laws and put criminals ahead of lawful resident aliens and American Citizens. As to energy? California gets a major chunk of their power from out of state. Other than giant bird Cuisinarts, California hasn\u2019t allowed a new powerplant to be built in years. Not only that, but California is sitting on a sea of oil. Good luck getting it out of the ground though. Those Moonbats won\u2019t allow you to even think of drilling.<\/p>\n At the same time, Brown has established himself as a moderating force in Sacramento, pushing back against liberals on issues such as gun control and business regulation, which, to some, suggests an effort to shed the kooky Left Coast image of his first time as governor, more than 20 years ago, and craft a more centrist profile ahead of 2016.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The only reason Governor Moonbat, (Formally Governor Moonbeam), vetoed the gun control bills was one simple fact. They were so unconstitutional they would have been thrown out in days. As to his pushing back on regulations? Please! He might have shut a few of them down, but California is now considered a state that is manifestly business unfriendly. Even Hollywood doesn\u2019t actually film in California all that much due to the taxes and regulations.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery move he\u2019s making is the move of a presidential candidate,\u201d said Ralph Nader, the consumer advocate, who has run several times himself and would like to see Brown make another try for the White House in two years. \u201cIt\u2019s almost a blueprint.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Well now, Brown has the endorsement from on of the biggest hypocrites out there. Nader has been pretty much ignored for decades as nothing more then a mealymouth nanny who says one thing but does another. No one pays any attention to him these days.<\/p>\n Clinton has traveled the country extensively since stepping down as secretary of state in February, boasts a vast fundraising network and has a small army of volunteers ready to work on her behalf. But she has not formally committed to the race. Absent a Clinton bid, the Democratic contest would break wide open and many believe Brown would be much more inclined to run, trading on his high name-recognition, status as a Washington outsider and achievements in Sacramento.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Talk about a target rich environment! If Brown runs and claims what a genius he is, he is going to get hammered so hard they will have to use a backhoe to dig him out. And there is his age. He\u2019ll be pushing 77 in 2016 and if by some miracle he should win, 78 when he takes office. Ronald Reagan was leaving office at age 79. The odds of Brown completing one term of the toughest job on earth are very low.<\/p>\n His age, however, would doubtless be an issue. If elected, Brown would be 78 at his swearing-in, making him by far the oldest first-term president in the nation\u2019s history. Brown does have longevity in his family; at his 2011 inauguration he introduced his 99-year-old aunt and joked about his strong health and good genes. Still, he is more than nine years older than Clinton and more than four years older than Vice President Joseph Biden, another Democrat who may take a look at the race.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Gee, and I thought the Democrat Party was the party of Youth? So why are these relics of the 1960\u2019s considering anything more then the early bird special, the cost of Geritol and whether or not their Depends need to be changed? These fossils haven\u2019t had an original idea, other then taking care of themselves at the expense of everyone else, in decades. Surely the Progressive Liberal Democrat Elites have Someone who is less then 80 who can run? Frankly, I don\u2019t think it paints a good picture for a candidate to have a team of paramedics with a crash cart<\/a> ((A crash cart or code cart (crash trolley in UK medical jargon)<\/a>)) following them around.<\/p>\n Brown should just retire when this term is up and move into one of those nice retirement homes the state of California stiffs all the time.
