Good day all. You may not recall this, but back in 2011, noted guitar manufacturer, Gibson Guitar Corporation was raided by King Putt\u2019s DOIJ Goon squads. The reason? They claimed the wood that Gibson imported from India was not legal to have.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Eventually, Gibson got the wood back. Now they have put it to use, and in just the way they should have. Here are the details from the American Thinker<\/a>:<\/p>\n

In 2011, the Department of Justice conducted raids on the Tennessee facilities of the famed Gibson Guitar company and confiscated large quantities of tonewood that had been imported from India and Madagascar.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And just how did the Department of InJustice conduct this raid? About as you would have expected, if you lived in the Soviet Union or Nazi occupied Europe.<\/p>\n

The action included armed SWAT teams, with automatic weapons, who apparently feared being garroted with a guitar string by an enraged Gibson employee.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Oooh! The Federal Agents were frightened by the little guy with some wire!! Someone call in the Waaahmbulance!<\/p>\n

\"wambulance\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What a load of horse hockey. It was just another chance for the goon squads masquerading as Law Enforcement Officers to look scarey and abuse people. And the reason for the raid?<\/p>\n

These raids were conducted due to the Lacey Act, which bans the importing of certain woods. The issue at hand was not that the wood was endangered or illegally harvested, but that it was not of the proper thickness that would have meant that some labor had been performed on it by workers in India and Madagascar. This was the law in Madagascar and India as a nod to the unions in those countries. Gibson, who hand-makes its guitars, cannot guarantee the craftsmanship of its products if a portion of the work is done outside their facilities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, India and Madagascar complained about this?<\/p>\n

What raised many eyebrows about this governmental action was that the countries involved, India and Madagascar, indicated that they were not interested in pursuing the matter when contacted by the Department of Justice. Also, even if Gibson had been guilty, this would have been a civil, not a criminal matter.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So the two countries that might have requested this, didn\u2019t and if there had ben an issue, it would be a matter for the civil courts, not a criminal matter. Well, I\u2019m sure the DOIJ also raided Gibson\u2019s competitors.<\/p>\n

Finally, this same kind of tonewood is used by other guitar makers such as CF Martin and Company and Fender. Those other companies were not raided.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not raided? But they were doing the exact same thing! What could possibly be the reason they weren\u2019t attacked by a DOIJ goon squad? I\u2019ll give you three guesses, but I wager you will need only one.<\/p>\n

The principle difference seems to be that those companies contributed to Democratic candidates, while Henry Juszkiewicz, the CEO of Gibson, gives openly to Republicans, and Gibson has plants in a right-to-work state.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, just another politically motivated attack on a company that thinks Il Douche is a petty little tyrant with delusions of competence. Gibson jumped through assorted hoops and finally got their property back.<\/p>\n

After spending nearly two and half million dollars in legal fees and paying a $300,000 fine, the government has settled with Gibson and has finally returned the confiscated tonewood.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"DOIJ\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Gee, no wonder they took along a Highly Trained and Professional SWAT Team<\/i><\/span> <\/i>Goon Squad. I\u2019d be a worried too, if I were a federal agent, that the managers and employees of Gibson might want to string me up with guitar strings over this abuse of power. But, Gibson is getting the last laugh on The SCoaMF and his band of thugs.<\/p>\n

Normally that would be the end of the story, with a victory scored for partisan government bullying of political opponents, however, that is not the end. Gibson took that wood and made it into the Government Series II Les Paul. These special edition guitars are hot stamped in gold with the Government Series graphic, which is an American bald eagle holding a Gibson guitar neck. It is an admirable statement of defiance of an abusive government and a refusal of a historic American company to be intimidated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s a pity I have the musical ability of a tree frog. When I was but a small Webmaster, I tried to learn the guitar. After a half dozen lessons, my instructor told my parents that it was a complete waste of time and money for me to study music. If I had been able to learn, I would buy one of these fine musical instruments. Perhaps one or more of our fans does play and would consider buying one of these fine instruments and sticking a thumb in the eye of Der Fubar.<\/p>\n
