You\u2019re in good company: Last fall the Climate Prediction Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted that temperatures would be above normal from November through January across much of the Lower 48 states. <\/i>This graphic shows just how wrong<\/i> the official forecast of the U.S. government was. The big red blotch in the top map represents parts of the country in which the Climate Prediction Center forecast above-average temperatures. The frigid-looking blue blotch in the bottom \u201cverification\u201d map shows areas where temperatures turned out to be below average. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n I\u2019m not going to download the image of the map, but I\u2019ve provided a link to it. Suffice to say it has been DAMN COLD! This winter as my heating bills can attest to.<\/p>\n \u201cNot one of our better forecasts,\u201d admits Mike Halpert, the Climate Prediction Center\u2019s acting director. The center grades itself on what it calls the Heidke skill score, which ranges from 100 (perfection) to -50 (monkeys throwing darts would have done better). October\u2019s forecast for the three-month period of November through January came in at -22. Truth be told, the September prediction for October-December was slightly worse, at -23. The main cause in both cases was the same: Underestimating the mammoth December cold wave, which brought snow to Dallas and chilled partiers in Times Square on New Year\u2019s Eve. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n But this can\u2019t be! Pope Algore, the Goracle of the Church of Global Warming has stated that the planet has a fever! We must all buy his Indulgences<\/span><\/i> ((Indulgence<\/a>)) Carbon Credits so that we can SAVE THE PLANET! If we don\u2019t buy his indulgences<\/span><\/i> Carbon Credits, we\u2019re all going to BURN!!<\/p>\n Surely someone must have known? As it turned out, someone did. Here are a few details from the Daily Caller<\/a>:<\/p>\n Who could have predicted such a harsh winter? The Farmers Almanac did, <\/i>according to a CBS News report from August 2013<\/i><\/a>. The nearly 200-year old publication hit newsstands last summer and predicted that \u201ca winter storm will hit the Northeast around the time the Super Bowl is played at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands in New Jersey,\u201d and also predicted \u201ca colder-than-normal winter for two-thirds of the country and heavy snowfall in the Midwest, Great Lakes and New England.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re using a very strong four-letter word to describe this winter, which is C-O-L-D. It\u2019s going to be very cold,\u201d Sandi Duncan, the almanac\u2019s managing editor, told CBS News in August.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Gee, why does this sound so familiar to me? I know! I wrote about this last August<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Midwest and Great Lakes regions also saw terribly cold weather and record levels of snowfall this winter. Major Midwest cities like Chicago, Cincinnati and Detroit have seen record levels of snowfall<\/a>. Chicago alone saw 45.8 inches of snow by the end of January, and, as of Friday, the Great Lakes were 90 percent frozen over.<\/em><\/p>\n The Midwest and New England were hit with frigid weather and snow for long periods of time. So long, in fact, that there were propane shortages<\/a> and natural gas prices spiked<\/a> due to increased need for heating and supply bottlenecks.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n I will state for the record that I was also caught by surprise at the increase in the cost of Natural Gas. We heat the Anger Central Primary Dwelling with Gas as well as the main offices of Anger Central. The bills for the last few months were much higher then the Angry Account anticipated. We should have prebought, but we lost money on that the last few years and decided to skip it this year.<\/p>\n Now, we\u2019re seeing the Global Warmists doubling down on Stupid. Last week we had Secretary of State For North Vietnam and France<\/span><\/i> John LiveShot Kerry making his usual complete ass of himself in Indonesia with this line:<\/p>\n \u201cClimate change can now be considered another weapon of mass destruction, perhaps even the world\u2019s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction.\u201d (<\/i>H\/T The Washington Post<\/i><\/a>))<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n We also have a stupid Moonbat billionaire who is dedicated to spending whatever it takes to stop the Keystone XL Pipeline and elect Progressive Liberal Democrats into office. Again from the Washington Post<\/a>:<\/p>\n Additionally, a California billionaire and anti-Keystone XL pipeline activist, Tom Steyer, has burst onto the stage pledging to spend $100 million<\/a> to try to elect Democrats who share his views on climate change\/global warming.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n So why is these idiots pushing what is so obviously a failed scientific theory?<\/p>\n The bottom line is the left is obsessed with raising people\u2019s power bills.<\/i><\/p>\n That\u2019s really what this is all about. The 2014 election should be a referendum on the economy, and I hope voters \u2014 in part \u2014 vote on whether or not they want to let the Obama administration and the likes of Mr. Steyer raise their power bills. The Democrats have made it a crusade. The left cannot get enough of bogus reasons why Americans should have to pay more for the electricity they use. Liberals want to blame everything on climate change, from any significant weather event to beached whales to the <\/i>proliferation of boring beetles<\/i>. The latest is that the left even wants to blame earthquakes on global<\/i> warming. Well, not exactly. But they do claim that oil and gas extraction is causing earthquakes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The writer of the column, Ed Rogers even came up with his own theories on what else Global Warming is causing:<\/p>\n Well, I have my own theory. I\u2019m not a scientist, but I do watch a lot of the Discovery Channel with my 11-year-old daughter, and I say global warming will result in more meteorites hitting the Earth. That\u2019s right. I say carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases are displacing oxygen, resulting in an atmospheric shift that will deplete the accelerants that are necessary to completely incinerate asteroids before they impact the Earth\u2019s surface. Why not? Sounds about as reasonable as a lot of the other wacky claims about global warming that are out there. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n You got that right! 10 years ago it was called global warming.\u00a0 We were all going to have to suffer to the point of collapsing our economy so that the Earth would not turn into another Venus. When one Global Warming protest after another was canceled due to massive snow storms and arctic like cold weather, and people started pushing back, they changed it to \u201cClimate Change.\u201d After all, billions of dollars in taxpayer money used to fund phony research into a nonexistent problem were on the line. Al Gore would no longer be able to sell Snake Oil<\/span><\/i> Carbon Credits to fund his lavish lifestyle of private planes and multimillion dollar mansions.<\/p>\n Secretary Kerry\u2019s latest comments and Mr. Steyer\u2019s millions have made the climate-change debate even more surreal than it already was. They are crowding out any rational discussion about the diplomacy, mitigation and technology that might actually make sense to voters and make a difference. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The whole Global Warming<\/span><\/i> Climate Change business is now a religion who\u2019s followers rival the Radical Islamic Fundamentalists in their fanaticism. Really, the only difference between the two groups is the the followers of the Goracle don\u2019t strap on bomb vests and blow themselves up in gas stations filled with SUV\u2019s filling their tanks. People have had enough of their antics, and they are pushing back hard at the Goracles Inquisition Teams from the Environmental Protection Agency. Make no mistake, this is a war for control of your life. People like Al Gore, John Kerry and Tom Steyer are interested in absolute power and controlling every little bit of your life. They are simply using Climate Change as a means towards an end. If they win, it\u2019s over for freedom and liberty and a technological society. They will turn the world into their version of North Korea.<\/p>\n Now if you will excuse me, I have more shoveling to do.
