The Governor of Georgia, Nathan Deal has signed a new bill into law that improves things for gun owners greatly.

Now, like most people, I thought that Georgia had very basic laws with regards to guns. If you are a criminal or insane, you can’t have one. Apparently this wasn’t the case. Here are some of the details from CNN:

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed a wide-ranging gun bill into law Wednesday that has critics howling and proponents applauding. House Bill 60, or the Safe Carry Protection Act of 2014 — which opponents have nicknamed the “guns everywhere bill” — specifies where Georgia residents can carry weapons. Included are provisions that allow residents who have concealed carry permits to take guns into some bars, churches, school zones, government buildings and certain parts of airports.

GeorgiaCarry, which lobbied for the bill, calls it “meaningful pro-gun legislation,” despite it being watered down from the group’s perspective. Still, the group has lauded the legislation, which will go into effect July 1.

I’ll freely admit that I don’t know anything about this law, but I agree with the GeorgiaCarry people, even if this was watered down from what they asked for, it is a significant improvement over what was in place. I assume that private organizations and businesses can request people not to bring in guns. I also assume that if you go into a bar, drink and do something stupid with a gun, you are going to be punished…provided someone else doesn’t shoot you in self defense. Personal responsibility, don’t you know. Now on the other side, we have the aforementioned Americans for Responsible Solutions.

Americans for Responsible Solutions opposed the original bill that GeorgiaCarry pushed for, and while the group is pleased that the version Deal signed Wednesday doesn’t allow guns on college campuses or in churches, except in certain cases, it feels the legislation “takes Georgia out of the mainstream.”

Mainstream? Mainstream what? Oh, I know! Mainstream Progressive Liberal Fascism of course.

“Among its many extreme provisions, it allows guns in TSA lines at the country’s busiest airport, forces community school boards into bitter, divisive debates about whether they should allow guns in their children’s classrooms, and broadens the conceal carry eligibility to people who have previously committed crimes with guns,” said Pia Carusone, the group’s senior adviser. “So it is no surprise that while being trumpeted by the NRA as the ‘most comprehensive’ gun bill in state history, the legislation … was opposed by Georgia law enforcement, county commissioners, municipal leaders, and the Transportation Security Administration for its potentially harmful impact on Georgians’ safety.”

Now the part about letting felons to have guns? I did see something mentioned elsewhere regarding a felon using a firearm in lawful self defense. Without knowing the specifics here, I am going to assume that the law is not restoring their rights that they lost under due process, but is taking into account the possibility of a felon who is in a home of a gun owner and a home invasion takes place and the felon grabs one of the homeowners firearms to aid in their defense. There have been a few incidents where this has happened. Again, I’m assuming that certain factors are taken into account.

As to the part allowing people to carry into airports? It doesn’t allow people to carry past security checkpoints.

While the bill says no one is allowed to carry a firearm past an airport’s security screening checkpoint, it allows guns in other areas, including “an airport drive, general parking area, walkway, or shops and areas of the terminal that are outside the screening checkpoint.”

If you recall, there have been a few incidents where nutcases came in with guns with the intent of committing murder. Also, an airport is just the place terrorists would go into with automatic weapons and start blasting away. Well, in Georgia, Mohammad and Achmed are in for a very rude surprise if they try replicating the Rome and Vienna airport massacres. Compare this with states such as New York, or the ever popular Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In fact, here is a video of just what people have to go through in order to get a gun in Massachusetts.

[youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7PJstjs17c’]

Massachusetts, like all of the states run by the Progressive Liberal Democrat Fascists, has revoked the Second Amendment and has decided that it’s perfectly OK if innocent people are robbed, raped, beaten and murdered by criminal vermin. Rather interesting considering that Massachusetts was where the “Shot heard round the World” was fired ((Battles of Lexington and Concord)).

Thatisall

~The Angry Webmaster~

(1 votes, average: 5.00 out of 5)
Loading...

Good day all.
