Over the last few years, I\u2019ve been criticizing the United States Supreme Court for any number of boneheaded decisions. They have all but ended the 4th<\/sup> Amendment and have shown serious lack of understanding the roots of the Constitution and the role it plays in limiting the power of government. The Obamacare decision is a case in point.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

However, every once in a while, they get something right. In this case, they have finally figured out that giving anyone a preference due to their skin color is a really bad idea. The whole point of the United States is that we are all created equal. In this case, the court ruled that Michigan\u2019s ban on the use of racial preferences for collage admission was within the constitution\/ Here are the details from the Washington Times<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court on Tuesday restored common sense as well as the word of the Constitution by upholding Michigan\u2019s ban of racial preferences in state college admissions. Michigan voters had put the ban in their state constitution, ordering state colleges and universities not to \u201cdiscriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

This was clear, straightforward language that even a judge could understand, and the vote as an unequivocal 6 to 2, with the liberal Justice Stephen Breyer joining the usual five conservative justices. They understood George Orwell\u2019s point, in his novel \u201c1984,\u201d that proclaiming that war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength \u2014 and, in this case, colorblindness is racism \u2014 does not make it so.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This is a fairly major ruling ((Schuette v. Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action<\/a>)) in many ways, the biggest one was that it was 6 justices to 2 justices. (Justice Kagan recused herself) To have Comrade Justice Breyer voting with the conservative justices is, in itself, a surprise. What wasn\u2019t a surprise was Justices \u201cI hate the US Constitution ((Why Does Justice Ginsburg Prefer the South African Constitution?<\/a>))\u201d Bader-Ginsberg and \u201cWise Latina ((Sotomayor’s ‘wise Latina’ comment a staple of her speeches<\/a>))\u201d Sotomayor dissenting.<\/p>\n

Now the reasons for the decision are rather straightforward. You don\u2019t fix racism with more racism, no matter what the PLFD\u2019s think.<\/p>\n

\n

After decades of affirmative-action nonsense the public understands that however well-intentioned such policies may be, affirmative action reinforces the notion that minorities can\u2019t succeed on their own merits. Sometimes, when they do, accomplishment means little.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The truth hurts doesn\u2019t it? I recall that UCLA used to troll through the poorer schools looking for minority candidates. Very few completed the classes at UCLA, and most dropped out. This wasn\u2019t due to their being \u201cInferior,\u201d it was due to their being forced to attend inferior public schools.<\/p>\n

\n

When white applicants for admissions are rejected to favor less-qualified minorities, it invariably fuels racial resentment. The quota system once used by the University of California at Berkeley meant that highly qualified Asian students were rejected to favor other minorities so admissions could create a \u201cdesirable\u201d and arbitrary \u201cmix.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Typical of the PLFD\u2019s. Don\u2019t try to get the best and brightest, no matter what their skin tone or eye shape was, just make the pictures look good. You know, if these universities did something useful, like work to improve the public schools these poor kids are forced to attend, why I would wager they would see a large uptick in the numbers of applicants of recent African decent that were actually qualified. But know, that would mean actually doing something useful.<\/p>\n

By Any Means Necessary, a coalition of the left that sought to overturn the Michigan amendment, demands admissions based on racial calculus.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Oh I like that name. By Any Means Necessary? Sounds like they are one step short of bomb throwing.<\/p>\n

\n

The group\u2019s spokesman called Tuesday\u2019s ruling in Schuette v. Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action \u201cracist\u201d and said that \u201cthis court is declaring its intention to uphold white privilege and to create a new Jim Crow legal system.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I\u2019ll have more on that barking moonbat screaming racism since she didn\u2019t get what they wanted in another post. She\u2019s a real prize winning knothead. Which brings us to another pair of Liberal Moonbat knotheads. That would be the dissenting justices.<\/p>\n

In her dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor bought into the convoluted reasoning that banning the use of racial preferences unfairly targets minorities. \u201cToday\u2019s decision eviscerates an important strand of our equal-protection jurisprudence,\u201d she wrote, joined only by the hopelessly liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

By her very words, that racist Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrat, Sonia Sotomayor, has demonstrated her unfitness to be a member of the Bar, never mind the United States Supreme Court. And Ruth Bader Ginsburg? I really wonder if she could be impeached for treason considering her past comments and ruling. (Please note I am not talking about criminal arrest and trial on charges of treason. Impeachment is a political process, not a criminal one)<\/p>\n

Most of all, the decision was a victory for common sense. School administrators shouldn\u2019t be in the position of treating the student body like a television set where it can be lightened or darkened with the turn of a knob. It makes only good sense to say that a qualified student is welcome, regardless of his \u2014 or her \u2014 race or creed.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Exactly. America is the Great Melting Pot. We take in people from all across the globe, (Legally that is, not those jumping the border), and we make them part of us. Americans. My wife is a Chinese national. My brother in-law is Hispanic. I used to work with a woman who adopted a Chinese girl the same time I married my wife. (And she is cute as a button too!)<\/p>\n

I see couples who cover the entire spectrum of skin tones, and you know what? It doesn\u2019t matter. The problem with this \u201cRace Relations\u201d nonsense is those who can\u2019t get past someone\u2019s skin color. Most of them are on the political left. The ones on the right generally don\u2019t give a damn about how well someone handles direct sunlight, they only care about how they are as a person. Oh wait. PLFD\u2019s don\u2019t do \u201cIndividuality\u201d and \u201cPersonal Responsibility.\u201d It\u2019s all about pitting one group against another. Progressive Liberal Democrats. They live by the creed, \u201cDivide and Rule.\u201d I\u2019m glad a large majority of the USSC finally is coming to understand that skin tone doesn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n
