Good day all, while I was traveling I saw this amusing story about an Iranian admiral threatening to attack American aircraft carriers.<\/p>\n

When I saw the headline from the story I just rolled my eyes. Here are the details from The Hill<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Iran will target U.S. aircraft carriers based in the Persian Gulf if a war were to ever erupt between both countries, an Iranian naval chief warned Tuesday.<\/i><\/p>\n

“Aircraft carriers are the symbol of America’s military might,” Adm. Ali Fadavi, according to the Fars news agency<\/a>. “The carriers are responsible for supplying America’s air power. So, it’s natural that we want to sink the carriers.”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Now the Admiral is correct that our carriers are a legitimate target. Actually sinking one? That isn\u2019t so easy. Since it isn\u2019t easy, the Iranians decided to practice a bit.<\/p>\n

Fadavi is naval chief of Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guard and made the remarks as Iran completes a large-scale mock-up of a U.S. carrier. Iran is currently building a replica of the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier, which will be used in future military exercises. The Revolutionary Guard\u2019s navy has already targeted mock-up U.S. warships, Fadavi said, adding it took only 50 seconds to destroy one of them.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s always easier to destroy a fake ship that isn\u2019t shooting at you then a real one that is you moron. The United States Navy isn\u2019t all that concerned either.<\/p>\n

A U.S. Navy official in the Persian Gulf dismissed Iran\u2019s warnings.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Whatever Iran hopes to do with the mock-up, it is likely to have zero impact on U.S. Navy operations in the Gulf,” Cmdr. Jason Salata, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, told the Associated Press.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Iran might like to think it\u2019s easy to sink a carrier. Perhaps they should reflect on what nations have actual experience in fighting carrier battle groups and how well they did. That would be:<\/p>\n
