Good day all. I just saw this article and it set my blood to boiling. There is a 20 year old female student attending Dartmouth in New Hampshire who is the victim of a dangerous stalker. The young lady asked to be allowed to carry a gun on campus. Dartmouth\u2019s response? No, you can just be murdered as far as we\u2019re concerned.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Now this may seem a bit over the top, and I do like to use hyperbole, but from the story, this woman is in real danger and the university has essentially told her \u201cTo Bad.\u201d Here are the details from Fox News<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\n

A 20-year-old Dartmouth student says she may have to give up her Ivy League dream and drop out of school because the prestigious college won’t allow her to carry a gun — to protect herself against a predator. Taylor Woolrich, a junior, says Dartmouth administrators told her they won\u2019t let her carry a gun on campus, even though she lives in fear of a man who has been stalking her since she was a high school student in San Diego. <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If anyone needs a gun, it\u2019s Ms. Woolrich. However, Dartmouth long ago became a hardcore bastion of left-wing Progressive non-thought. All that matters to the administration is the group, and the individual may be expended as needed. In this case, as you will see, Dartmouth has determined that Ms. Woolrich is expendable.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely unfair,\u201d Woolrich said about her attempts to have the school make an exception to its weapons ban. \u201cIt\u2019s one of the hardest things I\u2019ve had to deal with.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I could say \u201cLife is unfair\u201d Ms. Woolrich, but I won\u2019t. The administration of Dartmouth is dead wrong in this and frankly, if something happens to you, as far as I\u2019m concerned, also criminally liable. You are not demanding that they take care of you, you want the means to do it yourself, in true American style.<\/p>\n

\n

Woolrich was 16 years old and working in a San Diego caf\u00e9 when she says a man came in to buy coffee and then kept returning throughout the day, staring at her for long periods of time and trying to flirt with her. The man, 67-year-old Richard Bennett, kept this up for days, she says, even sitting outside the store for an entire day and then following her home, demanding that she talk to him and saying he was \u201ctrying to protect her.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This guy is definitely a nutbar and probably lives in terror of a mass squirrel attack. Still, people like him have proven to be dangerous and you need a means to defend yourself.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI thought they were empty threats, but when I came home from school last summer, he was at my front door within eight hours of my plane landing,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s when I realized how serious it was.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n

Woolrich and her family called the police, and Bennett was arrested. A search of his car uncovered a slip noose, a knife, gloves and other items. Bennett is currently in jail in San Diego County, accused of violating the restraining order and felony stalking, as well as other charges. His next court date is Aug. 20. If convicted, his maximum sentence would be four years. <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Normally, I would say that \u201cThis being California, getting a conviction is unlikely, and if he was convicted, some idiot judge would simply slap him on the wrist.\u201d but California takes stalking very seriously. They have a large population of celebrities and many of them have had run-ins with whackjob stalkers. Most of them can afford top flight security, but you can\u2019t, obviously.<\/p>\n

Now in New Hampshire, you generally have to be 21 in order to get a Concealed Carry Weapons permit. The same for California, although they don\u2019t believe in the Second Amendment all that much. However, exceptions to the 21 or older law are allowed.<\/p>\n

\n

Woolrich says she inquired about obtaining a permit to carry a concealed weapon in California and learned that the minimum age to get one is 21, though exceptions can be made under special circumstances. She says the Sheriff\u2019s Licensing Division told her she could qualify, and she learned the same exception can be granted in New Hampshire, where Dartmouth is located. <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

New Hampshire has a far more \u201cliberal\u201d view of the Second Amendment. The state allows Open Carry with no permit required and a CCW is very easy to get. All that is required is filling out a form and $10. There are also several places when she can be formally trained to handle a firearm as well as purchase one that would suit her needs. Of course, Dartmouth is dead set against allowing Ms. Woolrich the ability to defend herself or exercise her Constitutional rights. But then, most universities have issues with the Constitution of the United States and have all but banned it on their campuses.<\/p>\n

\n

But Dartmouth administrators told her she was \u201cabsolutely not\u201d allowed to carry a weapon on campus. She says she tried to plead her case and was told to speak with several campus officials, all of whom provided little to no help. \u201cThere\u2019s no option. There\u2019s no one to go to. They don\u2019t want to hear my case,\u201d she said. <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Actually, I think it\u2019s time you contact a lawyer. There are a number of attorneys who specialize in Second Amendment issues that would be salivating over a case like this. The usual bogus reasons for denying Ms. Woolrich, or anyone else from lawfully carrying a gun are laughable. One reason is to prevent mass shootings by students. As we all know, that hasn\u2019t worked out to well since people who intend to commit a mass shooting aren\u2019t to concerned with a university\u2019s \u201cNo Guns Allowed\u201d policy. In fact they like it since it means they don\u2019t have to worry about an armed citizen shooting back.<\/p>\n

\"gun-Free2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The other reason, somewhat plausible, is the worry that an armed student might get drunk and start waving his gun around. Now I said, \u201cSomewhat\u201d plausible for a good reason. People who carry a gun tend to be very level headed and know that booze and bullets don\u2019t mix. If a student with a CCW is going to a party, the odds are he or she, will leave the gun locked up in their domicile. Frankly, the only gun that any of the students might hold is a permanently attached part of the male anatomy.<\/p>\n

\n

The pro-gun rights Crime Prevention Research Center, in a study <\/a>published on Monday, said there have been no reported problems or issues with college-age permit holders on campuses in the nine states \u2013Colorado, Florida, Wisconsin, Utah, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Mississippi, Kansas and Idaho \u2013 whose laws mandate that students and others be permitted to carry concealed handguns on public college grounds.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s this fear about the possibility of students causing problems, but people talk about these things without actual examples,\u201d the center\u2019s president, John Lott, told FoxNews.com<\/a>. \u201cBy far, the safest course of action is to carry a gun for protection, especially for female victims.\u201d \u201c[Woolrich] has legitimate concern,\u201d he added. \u201cThere\u2019s only so much a restraining order can do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There is a very famous quote regarding guns:<\/p>\n

\u201cGod Made Man But Samuel Colt Made Them Equal\u201d<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n

This was the advertising slogan for Colt Firearms after the civil war. There have been many variations of it, but it all comes down to the same thing. A woman with a gun is far more able to defend herself against attack then a woman with a weak bladder ((College women told to urinate or vomit to deter a rapist<\/a>)) and a whistle.<\/p>\n

\"Rape<\/a><\/p>\n

Ms. Woolrich, after being told that she wasn\u2019t allowed to have any means of self defense, was told to talk to Campus security, better known as Mall Cops.<\/p>\n

\n

Woolrich says Dartmouth\u2019s Department of Safety and Security told her that instead of carrying a gun, she should call campus security and arrange for an escort if she felt unsafe after dark. But she says she was often asked to justify her requests when she called, and security officers gave her a hard time for calling often. <\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Gee what a surprise. Calling for help from the Collage Mall Cops and getting blown off. I\u2019m sure they will be right along in case this clown Bennett gets out and Ms. Woolrich\u2019s bloody corpse is found. Fortunately, it looks like Bennett isn\u2019t going anywhere right now.<\/p>\n

\n

For now, Bennett sits in jail on $30,000 bail, and Woolrich is not in danger. But she says she still lives in fear and feels she might have to take drastic measures if he manages to post bond and becomes a threat again.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cEvery morning I check the inmate lookup online to see if he has made bail,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel safe for now, but the day he gets out is the day I will have to leave Dartmouth.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Why should Ms. Woolrich be forced to go on the run? Oh, that\u2019s right. She isn\u2019t important in the \u201cGreater Progressive Scheme\u201d and if she should be brutally killed, why I\u2019m sure Dartmouth will have a nice memorial for her with calls to further suppress the rights of the law abiding. One of the actions they are looking at is a way to keep guns out of the hands of stalkers. The problem with that is that stalkers are, to put it bluntly, nuts and living in their own fantasy land. A gun might help them, but it isn\u2019t needed. A knife, Tazer, or a simple punch in the stomach and they will have their target. Remember, when Bennett was arrested, he didn\u2019t have a gun, he had a knife and some rope. A fat lot of good those anti-gun rules and laws are going to do then. Personally, I hope that someone in the legal profession contacts Ms. Woolrich and offers his or her services. It\u2019s time to put universities like Dartmouth on notice that they will suffer if they continue to violate people\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n
