Good day all. Yesterday the Federal Communications Commission voted to seize control of the Internet. They are doing this by declaring that the Internet is actually a utility and will be regulating it using a law passed in the 1930’s.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The rule was passed on what in Congress would be called a party line vote. The three Democrats voted to take control and the two Republicans voted to oppose the take over. I’ve been watching a lot of liberal media types who think that this is actually a good thing. They fail to understand that all it will do is create a regulated monopoly just like we had with the old AT&T. The plan, which was kept secret, has been released and it appears to be as bad as we feared. Here are the details from Fox News:<\/p>\n

Of all the government interventions by the Obama administration, the plan released Thursday by the Federal Communications Commission to regulate the Internet is the worst. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Obamacare is horrible. If they think this is worse, we are in trouble.<\/p>\n

The two Republican FCC Commissioners (out of a total of five) know exactly how important this new plan really is. Commissioner Ajit Pai has called the new FCC plan \u201ca massive shift in favor of government control of the Internet\u2026everything from your wireless service plan, to your wire line connection at home.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Which is exactly what the PLFD’s want, but it doesn’t end there.<\/p>\n

These new rules would not only affect your services, it would also give FCC regulators the power to decide what content on the Internet was \u201cjust and reasonable.\u201d Commissioner Tom Wheeler makes the absurd comment that the FCC would never use those powers. But in a February 4 issue of Wired, he already hints at ways bureaucrats could start dictating what they view as \u201cthreats\u201d on the Internet: <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Get ready for it.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026my proposal includes a general conduct rule that can be used to stop new and novel threats to the Internet. This means the action we take will be strong enough and flexible enough not only to deal with the realities of today, but also to establish ground rules for the as yet unimagined.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

In other words, they want to establish new rules and regulations for stuff that hasn\u2019t even been imagined yet! <\/i><\/p>\n

Basically, you will start seeing FCC mandated censorship. Think it can’t happen? Do you recall the Fairness Doctrine? Yes, they were censoring television and radio up until the 1980’s when under Reagan they finally ditched that rule. The results were people like Rush Limbaugh taking to the airwaves and the breaking of the stranglehold the PLFD’s had on what information people could get. This new rule was pushed through by the Tyrant in Chief in the White House. Barack Obama, who once said that the FCC publish proposed rules before they were voted one, once again showed he is nothing more then a blatant liar.<\/p>\n

Also inappropriate has been the White House\u2019s role in developing up the new Internet rules. The FCC is supposedly an \u201cindependent\u201d agency\u2026it\u2019s supposed to draw up its own rules. But in this process, the White House injected itself right into the rule making process. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are no \u201cindependent agencies\u201d in the Obama Regime. They all do as he tells them to do or else. You might also think the Republicans would do something about this. Don’t hold your breath.<\/p>\n

But Congressional Republicans seem clueless about what to do now. Republican Senator John Thune, head of the Commerce Committee, has ruled out a Congressional vote against the new rules.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why am I not surprised?<\/p>\n

Republicans have been very vocal and have voted regularly for the Keystone pipeline. But they have been largely silent about the administration\u2019s plan to regulate our information pipeline, which is far more vital to national concerns about liberty, freedom of speech and commerce. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That’s because the Republicans are actually supportive of crushing free speech. The Establishment Republicans despise the Internet for one simple reason. It has been used to show them to be the liars and cowards they are. As for the Democrats, Well they have been trying to reestablish slavery for over a century.<\/p>\n

Make no mistake. The greatest tool for freedom of expression to come along in our lifetime is in danger. One cannot have genuine freedom of expression with a government monitor, an overseer, a censor prepared to immediately shut down any \u201cthreats\u201d to the state. This is Orwellian, even if even opponents are reluctant to say it. But they must remember that the greatest miscalculations in history are those that underrate the determination of the power hungry to grab even more power. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I expect to see regulations regarding what people can post on the internet regarding elections, politicians and all sorts of things in fairly short order. I can even see orders coming out to shut down web sites and arresting people who violate the orders of the bureaucrats.<\/p>\n
