The reaction to this surprise ban was massive and overwhelming. Tens of thousands of comments were received, almost all of them opposed to the ban. Congress also made their unhappiness with this attempt at backdoor gun control known to the BATFE. Then it came out that a manual had been released prior to the announcement stating that the Green Tip projectile was going to be ban.<\/p>\n
With all this, the BATFE finally caved in and canceled the ban, although they did make noises about a possibility of reinstating the ban \u201cIn the future.\u201d This whole exercise was obviously a plan by Der Fubar to ban first the ammunition used in the popular AR-15 rifle series, and use it as a backdoor way to ban all ammunition down the road. They denied this of course, but as we know, King Putt wants a total ban on the private ownership of firearms and will do anything to get it. He wasn’t happy that the BATFE caved in, and now the Democrats are demanding that it be reinstated. Here are a few details from The Hill<\/a>:<\/p>\n Congressional Democrats are pressuring the Obama administration to move ahead \u201cswiftly\u201d with a proposal that would ban a form of armor-piercing ammunition.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n As I<\/a> and many others said, this ammunition is not armor piercing, and is not used in handguns. It’s also not all that great and the military is moving away from it. Still, the Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrats are what they are. Closet Nazi’s.<\/i><\/p>\n In a draft letter first obtained by The Hill, Democrats are urging the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to use his \u201cexisting authority\u201d to keep \u201cdangerous ammunition out of our communities.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Would that be the director who just handed in his notice and walked out the door?<\/p>\n \u201cWe hope that the Bureau will swiftly review comments on the proposed framework and issue a revised proposal that will address the danger posed by handguns that fire 5.56mm and other rifle ammunition,\u201d Democrats write in the letter.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The 5.56mm\/.223 caliber round is not a pistol round. It is a rifle round. There is one variant of the AR-15 platform that has a cut down barrel and no stock that \u201ctechnically\u201d is considered a handgun. In reality, it’s a short barreled rifle. It is large, awkward, and can’t be concealed. It’s also expensive. However, trying to explain things like this to the Moonbats is like talking to a brick wall.<\/p>\n But the proposal generated a firestorm of opposition from Republicans and gun groups, who denounced it as an attack on the Second Amendment that could open the door to sweeping restrictions on ammunition.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Gee, ya think?<\/p>\n With the backlash growing, the ATF <\/i>backed down earlier this week<\/i><\/a>, shelving the proposal indefinitely to allow time for \u201cfurther study.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n That is an excuse they’re using for cover. The fact is, they were trying to pull a back door ban on any rifle that uses the 5.56mm cartridge. The idea was \u201cYou can have your Evil Black Rifles, but you can’t have any ammunition for them.\u201d Of course, the reality was that it’s easy to change calibers on the AR platform. It can be a bit pricey, since you will have to buy a few new parts, but changing calibers is as simply as pulling a couple of pins and switching out the upper part of the rifle. There is a reason the AR-15 is called the \u201cLego\u201d of modern firearms. It’s a modular design and is easily modified. Needles to say, the PLFD’s are very disappointed with the cave in.<\/p>\n House Democrats in their letter say they are \u201cvery disappointed\u201d that the ATF delayed the rule. The proposal, they say, is true to the spirit of the Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act, which Congress passed in 1986 to ensure that officers do \u201cnot face extreme safety risk from firearm technology.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n And do you know how many police officers were killed or injured by purpose built armor piercing ammunition? Try none. If you were to use an AP, (Armor Piercing) round on someone, the bullet would go right through and frankly, probably not kill or incapacitate whoever was shot with it. Yes, they will be hurt and need a doctor, but unless it hit a vital organ like the heart or the head, or punched through the spine, it’s not going to put the target down in a hurry.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is critical to update this legislation as new technologies are developed in order to keep law enforcement officers and our communities safe,” they write. “That is why we urge you not to drag out this delay and to act swiftly to keep armor-piercing ammunition that can be used in handguns off the street.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n There is no AP pistol ammunition available to the public. However, and here is the dirty little secret, rifle ammunition will punch through bullet proof vests. It will also far out range a pistol round, and, depending on certain variables, will be at least twice as fast out of the barrel than the standard pistol round. Honestly, I don’t know of any AP ammunition that is made for handguns outside of a few special purpose, one off batch made for the military.<\/p>\n Dozens of House Democrats, including Reps. Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.), Jackie Speier (Calif.) and Steve Israel (N.Y.), are expected to sign the letter, which will be sent on Friday to ATF Director B. I didn’t have time last week with the press of work. Now the Republicans, along with tens of millions of other people saw right through the ban.<\/p>\n Republicans and gun groups railed against the ATF proposal, calling it a \u201cbackdoor\u201d attempt to restrict high-powered rifles, which are popular among hunters and sportsmen. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n And the response from Obama?<\/p>\n The White House declined Wednesday to weigh in directly on the bullet ban proposal, instead stressing that President Obama remains committed to reasonable gun regulations. <\/i><\/p>\n \u201cThe president\u2019s commitment to putting in place common-sense rules that will protect Second Amendment rights, but also prevent those who shouldn\u2019t have firearms from getting them, is as strong as ever,\u201d White House press secretary Josh Earnest said. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n And that was a lie of course. Nowhere does the word \u201cReasonable\u201d appear in the Second Amendment, or as far as I know, any other part of the Constitution. (I am prepared to be corrected of course) The Democrat Party detests the Second Amendment and the people who own guns. Why? For one simple reason. They know that as long as Americans are armed, they can’t push their totalitarian trash to far, otherwise those people that they hate will \u201cPush the Second Amendment Reset Button\u201d and remove them from office, as well as this plane of existence.<\/p>\n The American people have spoken on this and have voted with the ballots as well as with dollars. More and more people are buying firearms of all types for a number of reasons. A big one is self defense. Defense against criminals, and it seems, defense against our own government. Leave it to the Moonbats to refuse to understand what they have wrought.
