Good day all. Last week, the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, B. Todd Jones, suddenly handed in his resignation to take effect March 31st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The suddenness of his resignation along with how quickly he will be leaving is making a number of people think he was fired by President Valarie Jarrett<\/i><\/span> Barack Obama over his caving in on the recent attempt by the BATFE to ban the M588 cartridge. Here are a few details from My Fox DC:<\/p>\n

ATF director B. Todd Jones announced his resignation Friday after less than two years in office. Jones was the first Senate-confirmed director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives \u2013 a process that took 6 months.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Six Months? I don’t recall why the confirmation took so long, If I recall correctly, the Democrats controlled the Senate then and I think that was about the time Dingy Harry Reid nuked the fillibuster.<\/p>\n

Oh well, it doesn’t matter since this pinhead is out in a couple of days. Now the political obituaries are coming out.<\/p>\n

“He has made bold changes, advanced forward-looking policies, and taken innovative steps to strengthen ATF’s investigative capabilities, including ballistic imaging technology that recently played a critical role in the investigation of the shooting of two police officers,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement. “And as a result of Todd’s leadership, ATF has built a proactive, creative, and effective team that is well-prepared to drive the agency into the future.”<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

*SNORT* Now that’s funny! As I recall, the most common nickname for the BATFE is \u201cF-Troop<\/a>,\u201d and for good reason. Botched investigations, losing automatic weapons, violating international agreements, causing the deaths of hundreds of Mexican citizens as well as a federal agent. Yep, a highly competent agency…NOT!<\/p>\n

B. Todd Jones is the former U.S. Attorney in Minnesota. He spent nearly two years as acting director, following a house cleaning that stemmed from the failed “Fast and Furious\u201d operation, in which the agency allowed illegal gun sales in hopes of baiting Mexican drug cartels into arrests.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

House cleaning? What house cleaning? All I’ve seen is the construction of a massive set of stone walls and cover ups.<\/p>\n

Under Jones, the ATF had its own bumps and bruises. A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel investigation found a storefront sting operation in the city was robbed of an agent’s machine gun and $35,000 in merchandise. The Milwaukee operation also lost track of a document that listed the identities of undercover agents.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Just last month, gun rights supporters blasted the ATF<\/a> for proposing a ban on the steel-tipped .223 caliber bullets that serve as ammunition for AR-15s and other rifles. The ATF said the ammunition has no legitimate sporting purpose.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The cave in by Jones to the Constitution is probably what got him invited to \u201cSeek other opportunities elsewhere.\u201d The BATFE’s sole purpose is the stripping away of the right of the people to keep and bear arms. The very fact that the BATFE said that the M855 cartridge served no \u201cSporting Purpose\u201d tells you all you need to know.<\/p>\n

\"Texas_Flag_Come_and_Take_It\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Second Amendment, contrary to the beliefs of the PLFD’s, is not about the \u201cSporting use of firearms,\u201d it was written to insure that the American People had the tools they would need to remove a corrupt, tyrannical government. The BATFE does have a few good agents who really mean well, but they are outnumbered by those who are incompetent and\/or are only interested in their own careers.<\/p>\n

The agency is redundant and needs to be disbanded. Representative James Sensenbrenner is now proposing a bill to do just that. According to the Washington Free Beacon<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Citing ATF\u2019s recent operational failures and its overlap with other federal law enforcement, Sensenbrenner is preparing a bill to dissolve the agency and have existing agencies in the U.S. Justice Department take on its duties. <\/i>\u201cBy absorbing the ATF into existing law enforcement entities, we can preserve the areas where the ATF adds value for substantially less taxpayer money,\u201d Sensenbrenner said. \u201cWhile searching for its mission, the ATF has been plagued by decades of high-profile blunders. \u2026We cannot afford to ignore clear changes that will greatly enhance the government\u2019s efficiency.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The budget of the BATFE is $1,150,000,000.00. For that we get repeated civil rights abuses, entrapment, perjury and malicious prosecutions. Instead of find a replacement for Todd, the entire agency should follow him into the \u201cDreaded Private Sector.\u201d I’m sure many of the current employees would make excellent Mall Cops.<\/p>\n
