Good day all. In a story that appeared in the Sunday Times of London<\/a>, they reported that former Mayor of New York City, and closet totalitarian, Michael Bloomberg was considering running for the office of Mayor of London, England.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg, who did such a bang up job of running New York City…into the ground, is actually considering standing for election for the office in London. Here are the details from Fox News:<\/p>\n

A former New York City mayor is reportedly being persuaded to run next year in the London mayoral election by prominent government officials across the Atlantic. <\/i>The Sunday Times of London<\/a>, citing the former mayor\u2019s friends, reports that Michael Bloomberg is \u201cconsidering\u201d running as the Tory candidate in next year\u2019s election in London. The city will elect Boris Johnson\u2019s successor in May 2016.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are a few problems with this. First, if Bloomberg runs and then takes office, he loses his United States citizenship. This is the law under Title 8 \u203a Chapter 12 \u203a Subchapter III \u203a Part III \u203a \u00a7 1481<\/a> of the U.S. Code. Bloomberg, if he runs and the people of London are stupid enough to vote him in, will be required to swear an oath of allegiance to the British Crown. Of course, considering Bloomberg’s proven contempt for the United States Constitution, he probably doesn’t see a problem with swearing an oath to the Crown.<\/p>\n

Besides losing his U.S. citizenship, there is another issue with the idea of his running for Mayor of London. Who in their right mind, after seeing his actions in New York City, would want this megalomaniac as mayor of the most important city in Great Britain?<\/p>\n

Powerful Brits are apparently publicly backing the idea as well. Steve Hilton, a top adviser to British Prime Minister Cameron, is urging Bloomberg to run, the newspaper reported. \u201cIt would be an incredible coup for London if Mike Bloomberg could be persuaded to run for mayor here,\u201d Hilton said. \u201cHis kind of pragmatic, problem-solving leadership is exactly what London needs.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Problem solving? Problem causing you mean. Granted, England has mutated into just the sort of state George Orwell wrote about in his novel, \u201c1984<\/a>.\u201d Bloomberg is a typical progressive elitist. He considers people to stupid run their own lives so he must tell them what to do. Bloomberg as Mayor of London would make Stalin look like a libertarian. However, according to Fox News, Bloomberg might not be interested.<\/p>\n

However, Bloomberg aides shot down the report. <\/i>\u201cYou can quote me on the record of ruling it out,\u201d former Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson told The New York Post.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With absolutely no due respect, until I hear a refusal from Bloomberg himself, then his running still on the table.<\/p>\n

For Bloomberg to run he would have to become a citizen of the country of the European Union, a prerequisite for running for mayor. Wealthy foreigners could fast-track applications for British residency by investing $15 million in the country, but it would still take up to two years. A source told the Sunday Times that they did not think it would be a problem.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The current mayor, Boris Johnson, won reelection in 2012. The term of office is 4 years. If Bloomberg decides that he should be mayor of London, then he would need to make the changes to his citizenship now. Of course, Bloomberg would have no problem buying his citizenship<\/i><\/span> investing in England. And I would be surprised if he doesn’t already have large holdings over there.<\/p>\n

Now, here is the question. Should he do it? I think that he should be encouraged to buy<\/i><\/span> run for the office. In fact, I would say we should trade Bloomberg for Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond and a Stig to be named later. Throw in all the rights to the Top Gear brand<\/a> and we’ll happily put Bloomberg on Air Force One and fly him over on the Taxpayer’s dime. It will be well worth the cost.<\/p>\n
