This is not a surprise to anyone who has honestly looked at how things are changing in the United States these days. More and more people are taking up the shooting sports, (Not necessarily hunting), as well as buying guns for self defense. People are finally understanding that they have to be the first line when it comes to defending themselves, their families and their neighbors. The police can’t do it. Here are the details from the Washington Examiner<\/a>:<\/p>\n Exactly two years after President Obama’s bid for gun control following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting died in Congress, a new poll has discovered a huge shift in public opinion to backing Second Amendment gun rights and away from controlling gun ownership. <\/i>The reason: Americans now believe having a gun is the best way to protect against crime, 63 percent to 30 percent.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This isn’t a surprise. We are seeing more and more reports of people who are armed either stopping a crime or a mass murder attempts. We’re also seeing areas where they still push \u201cGun Free Zone, Criminals and psychos welcome\u201d getting hit time and time again.<\/p>\n Pew Research Center<\/a> found that while support for gun control once reached 66 percent, it has dropped to 46 percent while support for gun rights has jumped 52 percent, the highest ever in the past 25 years. <\/i>“We are at a moment when most Americans believe crime rates are rising and when most believe gun ownership \u2013 not gun control \u2013 makes people safer,” said the survey. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n To say the shift in opinion is radical is not an understatement. It follows a short period where Americans were torn over gun ownership, but eventually sided with gun rights groups during the Obama years.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n And why do you think Americans moved in that direction? The answer is simple. People have watched Obama ignore the constitution and rule by decree. We have watched a congress that either was nothing more then a rubber stamp for Obama or simply rolled over and gave up rather then make a stand that might make the New York Times angry.<\/p>\n Pew suggested that the change is the result of Americans believing that crime is a big problem, despite statistics showing the opposite. “In the 1990s, the rate of violent crimes plummeted by more than half nationwide. Public perceptions tracked right along, with the share saying there was more crime in the U.S. over the past year falling from 87 percent in 1993 to just 41 percent by 2001,” said Pew, adding: “In the new century, however, there’s been a disconnect. A majority of Americans (63%) said in a Gallup survey last year that crime was on the rise, despite crime statistics holding near 20-year lows.” <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n There are a few reasons why people believe this. First is the 24 hour news cycle. Cable news services such as Fox and CNN have to fill their broadcast day, so they will hype anything that happens. (Fox isn’t quite as bad as CNN, but they’ve put their foot in it on occasion)<\/p>\n Another reason is the current administration. We have seen them lie about everything, and instead of prosecuting criminals, they go after people and groups based on skin color and eye shape. They are also now backing one particular religion over all the others in a direct violation of the Constitution. (Seen any Muslims get hammered the way Christians have been over the last few years?) The Pew Research Center is having problems understanding why people are perceiving a rise in the crime rate when there isn’t one.<\/p>\n Pew said it is hard to explain the disconnect. “Why public views on crime have grown more dire is unclear, though many blame it on the nature of news coverage, reality TV and political rhetoric.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n So they do understand.<\/p>\n Whatever the cause, this trend is not without consequence. Today, those who say that crime is rising are the most opposed to gun control: Just 45% want to see gun laws made more strict, compared with 53% of those who see crime rates as unchanged or dropping.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n It isn’t just crime that causes people to want to get a gun. People are also starting to remember the Constitution and what it means. They are also growing afraid of our own government. The American people now see the Federal United States Government as a true threat to their freedoms and safety. We have seen how the government wants to strip our Good\/Nature given rights away from us and give more and more power to the central government.
