Good day all. California is going through a severe drought, made worse by the incompetence and stupidity of the political class. Thanks to Governor Moonbeam and the moonbats, California has not been able to build any sort of water reservoir in decades.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This isn’t the worst of it though. That goes to the stupidity of pouring millions of gallons of drinking water into the ocean to save a nearly extinct, and essentially useless fish. This was brought about by a lawsuit years ago by the Environmentalist Whackos and some judges who are to stupid to come in out of the rain. Now, with farmers watching their land turn into desert, people are wondering about that damn fish. Here are some details from Fox News:<\/p>\n

At three inches long, the delta smelt is one of the smallest fish in California — but ounce for ounce, no species statewide carries more weight. <\/i>Endangered since 1993, the plankton-eating silver minnow is blamed by farmers, lawmakers and water officials up and down the Golden State for locking down billions of gallons of water that otherwise would go to them. That’s because, since the smelt’s listing as a protected species, biologists have tried saving the fish, in part, by withholding fresh river runoff annually to maintain smelt-friendly temperature and salinity levels.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Farmers and downstate cities — already suffering the effects of the drought — claim that water was allocated to them, and withholding it for a fish with no commercial purpose is bad policy. <\/i>\u201cCalifornia fruits and vegetables are sent all over the world,\u201d said Republican state Assemblyman Travis Allen. \u201cWhen we are diverting our water to save a few pinky-size fish and leaving hundreds of thousands of acres fallow \u2013 there is something wrong with our priorities.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Actually, it makes perfect sense if you are a brain dead Moonbat. Animals before people! However, there may be hope yet for the farmers. The fish isn’t doing very well at all.<\/p>\n

But major farm organizations are exploring a new option in the increasingly contentious fight, as the fish population continues to plummet despite conservation efforts: Declare the species extinct, and delist it as an endangered species, thus allowing regulators to turn on the pumps that appear lethal to the tiny minnows. The numbers suggest the delta smelt, indeed, could be wiped out soon anyway.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That’s just the way nature works. It’s survival of the fittest, and those that can’t adapt, die out. Don’t forget the something like 99% of all the species of animals and plants that ever lived on this planet are now extinct. Do you see any dinosaurs wandering around? Nope. They got taken out by a rabid right-wing Tea party supporting asteroid some 65 million years ago.<\/p>\n

Dr. Peter Moyle, an expert at UC Davis, predicts the smelt will likely be gone for good in about two years. But those considering a push to delist could be in for a fight.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Moyle and other fish biologists say the U.S. has a moral obligation to save the species, and making it the poster child for California\u2019s drought is unfair. \u201cTrying to blame fish for a shortage of water just isn\u2019t right and isn\u2019t true,\u201d Moyle said. \u201cThe delta smelt is in decline because the delta is in decline.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n

The back and forth in the story comes down to those who want to put people first, and those who really don’t like people very much. This fish is finished. There’s nothing that can be done to save it, or it would have already started making a comeback. There have been success stories of wildlife that had been brought to the point of extinction, but to my knowledge, they were all land based and could be bred in captivity until enough existed to return them to the wild.<\/p>\n

This creature is unable to survive a changing environment. It’s time for it to join the dinosaurs. Stick the fork in, dip it into some tarter sauce, it’s all done.<\/p>\n
