The Brady Center is named after Sarah Brady, who has been in the forefront of suppressing the 2nd<\/sup> Amendment for decades. This group has worked tirelessly to get laws passed that make it harder for law abiding citizens to exercise their right to keep and bear arms.<\/p>\n Recently, they filed a lawsuit against an online ammunition supplier called Lucky Gunner<\/a>. The suit accused the company of aiding the nutjob that shot up the theater in Colorado. Here are some of the details of the case and the dismissal from the Washington Times<\/a>:<\/p>\n A federal judge has ordered the Brady Center<\/a> to Prevent Gun Violence pay the legal fees of an online ammunition dealer it sued for the Aurora movie theater shooting. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n [youtuber youtube=’http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Gbp_JQ7RxqM’]<\/p>\n The order, which was issued last week, comes after Judge Richard P. Matsch<\/a> dismissed the gun control group\u2019s suit that sought to hold Lucky Gunner<\/a> legally responsible for the 2012 shooting. The Brady Center<\/a> had argued in their suit that the way Lucky Gunner<\/a> sells ammunition is \u201cunreasonably dangerous and create a public nuisance.\u201d \u201cA crazed, homicidal killer should not be able to amass a military arsenal, without showing his face or answering a single question, with the simple click of a mouse,\u201d Brady Center<\/a>\u2019s Legal Action Project Director Jonathan Lowy said at the time. \u201cIf businesses choose to sell military-grade equipment online, they must screen purchasers to prevent arming people like James Holmes.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n That argument went over with the judge like a lead balloon, and not one made by Mythbusters<\/a>.<\/p>\n Judge Matsch<\/a> disagreed with the Brady Center\u2019s argument. He said the suit was filed for propaganda purposes. \u201cIt is apparent that this case was filed to pursue the political purposes of the Brady Center and, given the failure to present any cognizable legal claim, bringing these defendants into the Colorado court where the prosecution of James Holmes was proceeding appears to be more of an opportunity to propagandize the public and stigmatize the defendants than to obtain a court order,\u201d he said in his order.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Brady Center, along with His Majesty, King Bloomberg, might want to pay attention to this case. They have been trying this stunt for years, and finally congress had enough and passed a law protecting firearm and ammunition suppliers from these harassing lawsuits.<\/p>\n Now, as I was finishing up this post, an update came out from the original story on the Free Beacon<\/a>. They made an error in their original article. Here is their update:<\/p>\n Update 4:15 P.M., Tuesday, June 30:<\/strong> An earlier version of this report incorrectly stated that Judge Matsch ordered the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence to pay the defendants\u2019 legal fees in this case. In fact, Judge Matsch ordered the plaintiffs in the suit, Sandy and Lonnie Phillips, to pay the fees. Although the Brady Center has publicly described the lawsuit as their own, Lucky Gunner has vowed to recover their fees from the Brady Center, and Judge Matsch addressed the Brady Center\u2019s involvement in his opinion, the Brady Center is not named as a plaintiff in the order. We regret the error.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Well, as they said, it was an understandable mistake, since the Brady Center was claiming this as their lawsuit. In fact, it looks like they were just taking credit and supporting the actual plaintiffs in the case. I wonder if they will pick up the tab for the Phillips since the legal fees Lucky Gunner incurred will probably be in the 6 figures or better.<\/p>\n Lucky Gunner appears to be planning to go after the Brady Center anyway, probably to spare the Phillips any more pain.
