Here are the details from the Daily Caller<\/a>:<\/p>\n The science on global warming is settled, so settled that 20 climate scientists are asking President Barack Obama to prosecute people who disagree with them on the science behind man-made global warming.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Scientists from several universities and research centers even asked Obama to use the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) to prosecute groups that \u201chave knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change, as a means to forestall America\u2019s response to climate change.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n You just have to love these left-wing thugs. Like their brethren in the totalitarian regimes of the 20th<\/sup> century, their first thought when confronted with people who disagree with them is to have them arrested.<\/p>\n RICO was a law designed to take down organized crime syndicates, but scientists now want it to be used against scientists, activists and organizations that voice their disagreement with the so-called \u201cconsensus\u201d on global warming. The scientists repeated claims made by environmentalists that groups, especially those with ties to fossil fuels, have engaged in a misinformation campaign to confuse the public on global warming. \u201cThe actions of these organizations have been extensively documented in peer-reviewed academic research and in recent books,\u201d the scientists wrote.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n These lunatics are the same sort of people who ran organizations like the NKVD<\/a>, KGB<\/a>, Gestapo<\/a>, or the Kempeitai<\/a>. Anyone who might pose a threat to the regime, or thought in an incorrect manner was deemed an enemy of the state and at best, imprisoned. Usually they were tortured and then killed. This is the same mindset that these clowns and their political operatives are bringing to the table.<\/p>\n But these riled up academics aren\u2019t the first to suggest using RICO to go after global warming skeptics. The idea was first put forward<\/a> by Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, who argued using RICO was effective at taking down the tobacco industry.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIn 1999, the Justice Department filed a civil RICO lawsuit against the major tobacco companies\u2026 alleging that the companies \u2018engaged in and executed \u2014 and continue to engage in and execute \u2014 a massive 50-year scheme to defraud the public, including consumers of cigarettes, in violation of RICO,\u2019\u201d Whitehouse wrote<\/a> in the Washington Post in May.<\/i><\/p>\n I recall the witch hunt against the tobacco industry, and that’s exactly what it was. I don’t recall the specifics, although I do know that internal documents from the industry seemed to indicate that they were trying to hide evidence that smoking was bad for you. Of course, by the 80’s at the latest, everyone knew smoking was bad for you. This was nothing more than a money grab by the government and the private lawyers. And just to clear the air, I don’t and never have smoked or used tobacco. (Filthy habit)<\/p>\n Now, there is a big difference here between the RICO case against tobacco and the arguments regarding Global Warming<\/i><\/span> Climate Change. To begin with, the so called \u201cscience\u201d is anything but settled. We all know that smoking is bad for you, but as for this nonsense called \u201cClimate Change?\u201d Well, the climate is ALWAYS changing. What it isn’t doing is getting any warmer. However, when you start throwing logic in the faces of true believers, well, they get really nasty.<\/p>\n \u201cWe strongly endorse Senator Whitehouse\u2019s call for a RICO investigation,\u201d the scientists wrote to Obama. \u201cThe methods of these organizations are quite similar to those used earlier by the tobacco industry. A RICO investigation (1999 to 2006) played an important role in stopping the tobacco industry from continuing to deceive the American people about the dangers of smoking.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n No, it isn’t. If anything, it’s the Global Warmists\u201d who are deceiving people. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, (Dumbass – Rhode Island), is typical of the Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrats. Now the issue is these swine are destroying anyone who disagrees with them and using the power of the government to do it.<\/p>\n This year has been a trying one for global warming skeptics. Earlier this year, Democratic lawmakers began an investigation<\/a> into scientists who disagreed with the White House\u2019s stance on global warming. Many of these skeptical scientists were often cited by those critical of regulations to curb greenhouse gas emissions.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Arizona Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva went after universities employing these researchers, which resulted in one expert<\/a> being forced to get out of the field of climate research altogether.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI am simply not initiating any new research or papers on the topic and I have ring-fenced my slowly diminishing blogging on the subject,\u201d Dr. Roger Pielke Jr. of the University of Colorado wrote<\/a> on his blog.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cCongressman Grijalva doesn\u2019t have any evidence of any wrongdoing on my part, either ethical or legal, because there is none,\u201d Pielke wrote. \u201cHe simply disagrees with the substance of my testimony \u2013 which is based on peer-reviewed research funded by the US taxpayer, and which also happens to be the consensus of the IPCC (despite Holdren\u2019s incorrect views).\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n And now you see just how evil the Church of Global<\/i><\/span> Warming Climate Change is. Now we have a number of so called \u201cscientists\u201d demanding that anyone who disagrees with their theory be jailed. Frankly, people like these are no different than the \u201cNazi \u201cscientists<\/a>\u201d who experimented on Jews. These people are dangerous. I would prefer that they be taken aside and counseled on how to defend their theories, but they are fanatics. It’s time that they experience what they are dishing out to others.
