Good bye, good riddance and don’t let the door knob hit you in the ass on the way out you worthless, incompetent coward. Boehner is a lying, conniving little weasel who’s first and only interest, other than a large number of stiff drinks, was his personal power and prestige.<\/p>\n
Now that he’s on his way out the door, the various pundits are reviewing his speakership. They basically come down on two sides. One side thinks that Boehner got a raw deal and that the Tea Party and conservative wings of the Republican party should be suppressed, and then there are the rest who think that Boehner was the wrong man for the job and that he should have been removed years ago.<\/p>\n
Boehner, for his part, is bitter and letting it show. Here are some of his remarks from Face the Nation<\/a>:<\/p>\n Days after abruptly announcing that he would resign from the House<\/a> at the end of October, Speaker John Boehner reflected on some of the “unrealistic” promises made by his colleagues. <\/i>“Absolutely they’re unrealistic,” he said in response to a question from “Face the Nation” moderator John Dickerson. “The Bible says beware of false prophets. And there are people out there spreading noise about how much can get done,” Boehner said.<\/i><\/p>\n Whether or not the conservative\/Tea party wish list could have gotten through, the problem with Boehner and his drinking buddy McConnell is the fact they wouldn’t even try. When Boehner was forced into doing something he didn’t want to do, he would refuse to fight, preferring to surrender to a bottle of scotch in his office. (After spending time in his personal tanning bed of course)<\/p>\n He specifically referenced promises by his GOP colleagues in 2013 that they would be able to get rid of Obamacare<\/a> through the process of funding the government – a tactic which ultimately led to the 16-day government shutdown<\/a> that fall. <\/i><\/p>\n “This plan never had a chance. But over the course of the August recess in 2013 and the course of September, a lot of my Republican colleagues who knew it was a fool’s errand, they were getting a lot of pressure at home to do this. And so we got groups here in town, members, the House and Senate here in town who whipped people into a frenzy believing they could accomplish things that they know, they know are never going to happen,” he said. <\/i><\/p>\n The problem with the shutdown wasn’t that it wouldn’t work, it was that this drunken, worthless coward wouldn’t fight Obama and defend the conservatives fighting the good fight. When Obama moved to make the shutdown as painful as possible, what did Boehner do? Smoke, drink and play golf. He didn’t move to correct the impressions, lets call them what they were, outright lies by Obama and the Democrats over what was happening.<\/p>\n Boehner goes on in the interview, insulting Senator Ted Cruz, refusing to consider shutting down the government and in general being the self pitying loser he always was. Now the fight is on to replace him, and truth be told, I have no idea who they might choose. Personally, I wold love to see former representative Alan West selected to be the next Speaker.<\/p>\n What? He isn’t a member of congress now? Well here’s a dirty little secret. The Speaker of the house does NOT have to be an elected member of Congress. Theoretically, they could go outside and bring someone in.
