The request was for some documents on a study NOAA conducted on co called \u201cClimate Change.\u201d The study is controversial and the Republicans who were questioning it wanted to see the actual data. Asking to see the report and all the information with it is within the oversight purview of Congress. Pity that NOAA thinks it’s above all that. Here are the details from The Hill<\/a>:<\/p>\n The federal government\u2019s chief climate research agency is refusing to give House Republicans the detailed information they want on a controversial study on climate change. <\/i>Citing confidentiality concerns and the integrity of the scientific process, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said it won\u2019t give Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) the research documents he subpoenaed.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n So what’s so interesting about this study that Senator Smith wanted to see it?<\/p>\n At the center of the controversy is a study that concluded there has not been a 15-year \u201cpause\u201d in global warming. Some NOAA scientists contributed to the report.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n I recall that report. There has been a real bruhaha over that study since it goes against many other studies that do show that temperatures have remained stable. Some have wondered if the Obama Regime and it’s followers may have doctored the report to fit their agenda.<\/p>\n Smith, the chairman of the House Science Committee, vehemently disagreed with the study\u2019s findings. He issued a subpoena for communications among the scientists and some data, leading to charges from Democrats that he was trying to intimidate the researchers.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Democrats accusing the Republicans of intimidating scientists?<\/p>\n [youtuber youtube=’http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Gbp_JQ7RxqM’]<\/p>\n May I bring the remarks of DEMOCRAT Senator Sheldon Whitehouse<\/a>? He wants to throw anyone who disagrees with Global Warming into prison. And then we have a group of Moonbats in various universities<\/a> that want to use the RICO laws to go after anyone who disagrees with their religious belief in Global Warming. Now we have a Republican senator who is asking for all the paperwork and data so he can review it and see how NOAA came to it’s conclusions. Sounds to me like someone has something to hide. Why else would all the Democrats start circling the wagons?<\/p>\n Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (Texas), the committee\u2019s ranking Democrat, has sharply criticized Smith\u2019s requests. \u201cBy issuing this subpoena, you have instigated a constitutional conflict with an inquiry that seems more designed to harass climate scientists than to further any legitimate legislative purpose,\u201d she wrote last week. \u201cThis is a serious misuse of congressional oversight powers.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Considering the abuse by DEMOCRATS when they had control of the house and senate, and how they’ve historically used their offices to go after anyone who wasn’t toeing the party line, simply requesting information and then issuing a subpoena when the agency refuses is perfectly legitimate.<\/p>\n Smith also said NOAA\u2019s assertion of confidentiality is incorrect. \u201cThe agency has yet to identify any legal basis for withholding these documents,\u201d he said, adding that his panel would use \u201call tools at its disposal\u201d to continue investigating. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n That’s because they have no legal basis, but then we also have an administration that considers things like Congress, the Constitution and the Rule of Law a petty annoyance in their drive to \u201cFundamentally Transform America<\/a>.<\/p>\n Global Warming collapsed under many feet of snow. When Global Warming protests kept getting snowed under, the moonbats decided they had to come up with another way to scam money from the ignorant. They came up with \u201cClimate Change!\u201d The only problem with all this \u201cGlobal Warming\u201d and Climate Change\u201d baloney is the problem with their computer models.<\/p>\n They don’t work.<\/p>\n When they feed in historical weather data, which they know is correct, the computer models always come back with the wrong results. Yet, these are the same models they are using to restrict the freedom of Americans. The problem with the Global Warmists is that people have caught on to their fraud and aren’t rolling over like good little serfs and peons.<\/p>\n To top it off, the Republicans have a few members who actually consider it their job to determine how taxpayer funds are being spent. When you have an agency that issues a study that goes against a number of other studies, then asking to see all the information in how the study was done is a requirement.
