This all started when the video of Laquan McDonald being shot in the back by a Chicago police officer, (Now being tried for murder in the case), came out a couple of months ago. The problem was that McDonald had been killed a year earlier and that the Chicago PD tried to cover up the shooting. Because of the delay in charging the officer, people believe that Emanuel knew how bad it made him and hid the video until after he won reelection. Now the whole thing has detonated in his face. Here are the details of what’s happening from the Washington Post<\/a>:<\/p>\n Mayor Rahm Emanuel cut short a family vacation this past week and returned to a city in crisis: On the North Side, more than a dozen people stood outside his house, hurling insults. On the West Side, a close aide was punched and kicked while attending a prayer vigil for a police shooting victim. And all week long, there were protesters, haunting one of Emanuel\u2019s biggest political donors, haranguing his police force, beating a papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 likeness of his face at City Hall. <\/b><\/p>\n More than a month has passed since a judge forced Emanuel (D) and other city officials to release a graphic video<\/a> of a white Chicago police officer shooting a black teenager 16 times. But public anger over the fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald in October 2014 has not dissipated. Instead, it has grown bitter and more personal. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cOh, it\u2019s personal, all right. We\u2019re making it personal,\u201d yelled Ja\u2019Mal Green, 20, a former Emanuel supporter who spent hours in bone-cold weather on the sidewalk outside the mayor\u2019s spacious Ravenswood home, mocking him and urging him to resign.<\/b><\/p>\n Rahm Emanuel<\/a> was Obama’s Chief of Staff and was well known for \u201cNever letting a crises go to waste.\u201d He is a hardcore member of the Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrat party and is a true believer in rule by the elite. He’s also a long time supporter and friend of the Clintons. His rule in Chicago has also managed to piss off a number of groups that \u201cShould not be pissed off.\u201d<\/p>\n Leaders of the Chicago Teachers Union, a longtime political foe, are threatening a \u201cprotracted strike\u201d this year, the union\u2019s second since Emanuel took office in 2011. <\/b><\/p>\n Because Chicago is a classic Democrat controlled city, the Democrat elites that have run things have always caved into the unions. If the teachers union does go on strike for political reasons, a real city leadership would simply PATCO<\/a> them and start hiring replacement teachers. However, this is Chicago, and whatever the unions want, (in general), the unions get. This is the primary reason the city is essentially bankrupt and massive new taxes are about to be levied.<\/p>\n A<\/b> massive tax and fee increase that Emanuel ushered through the City Council this past fall is about to take effect, including the largest property tax increase in modern Chicago history.<\/b><\/p>\n Businesses and people are already leaving Chicago. These tax hikes will only accelerate the process. Before to much longer, Chicago will be the next Detroit. The list of grievances against Emanuel goes on and on, and I will refer you back to the story<\/a>. However, it is the shooting of Laquan McDonald that appears to be the straw that’s breaking the camels back.<\/p>\n The shooting of Laquan McDonald, 17, occurred Oct. 20, 2014, just before Emanuel announced he was running for a second term. Police said they were responding to reports of a man with a knife. Police then said that McDonald refused to drop the four-inch blade and that Officer Jason Van Dyke emptied his 16-round handgun into McDonald because he felt that the teenager posed an imminent threat.<\/b><\/p>\n Which we now know was a flat out lie. McDonald was stoned, and was walking away from the police, not approaching them. This is why the officer is now going to trial on charges of murder.<\/p>\n When journalists demanded to see the dashboard-camera video of the incident, officials in Emanuel\u2019s administration refused to release it for more than a year until a judge ordered them to comply. <\/b><\/p>\n The video \u2014 released Nov. 24, a day before the judge\u2019s deadline \u2014 shows<\/a> Van Dyke shooting McDonald 16 times even as McDonald is walking away. Heightening suspicions, prosecutors waited until hours before the video\u2019s release to charge Van Dyke with first-degree murder. <\/b><\/p>\n It is extremely suspicious that this took a year to bring an indictment. If this had been a normal citizen, the charges and arrest would have been done within a week or two. The video is shows a pretty blatant abuse of police authority.<\/p>\n The streets of Chicago erupted in protests, which continued last weekend after police fatally shot an emotionally disturbed college student and his neighbor, a 55-year-old woman.<\/p>\n The Chicago police have a long history of being rather trigger happy. The now former Police Superintendent, Garry McCarthy, is on record threatening law abiding citizens who carry guns. According to an article in Western Journalism back in 2013, McCarthy issued this threat:<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care if they\u2019re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained\u2026 putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I\u2019ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we\u2019re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I\u2019m telling you right up front.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Is it any wonder people no longer trust the police? Fortunately for the police, no incident as described by that jackbooted thug came to pass. Considering the generally low quality of the marksmanship of Chicago’s police department, if they came up on someone defending him\/herself and just opened fire on them without warning, they would miss. The gun owner, if forced to return fire, probably wouldn’t. In any case, Emanuel has since thrown McCarthy under the bus to save his own skin.<\/p>\n Emanuel expressed confidence in Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy \u2014 until firing him under pressure December 1st<\/sup>. <\/b><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
