And the rats are looking to desert the sinking ship. Good day all. The other day I wrote a post about the GOP(e) donor class<\/a> wondering if they had been wasting their money donating to the Juan! Bush campaign. Now it looks like the Donor class are eyeing the lifeboats.<\/p>\n

The collapse of the Jeb Bush campaign will no doubt be studied for years. Bush raised over $100 million dollars prior to his announcement that he was running for president. He was at 15 percent in some of the polls. Now, some polls have him at 3 percent and the Juan! Bush campaign has blown over $50 million of the $100 million he started out with. Because of this the donors that Bush has been asking for money from, are considering closing their check books. Here are the details from Politico<\/a>:<\/p>\n

When Jeb Bush announced a record fundraising haul in July, the Florida Republican rewarded major donors with a two-day celebratory retreat at the family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine. They also delivered a message: $114 million was just the beginning of how much cash they would need to win.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’ve heard that Juan! Bush was looking for over $1 billion for his campaign.<\/p>\n

Now, seven months later and just 17 days before the first ballots are cast, Bush\u2019s donors are no longer high-fiving or strategizing how to keep funds flowing. Instead, the money spigot is shutting off as the donor class believes it is just a matter of time before the candidate they threw so much money behind drops out of the race.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Paraphrasing Winston Churchill<\/a> regarding the GOP(e) donors, \u201cNever, in the <\/i>the field of politics<\/i>, have so few, so misjudged the anger of so many.<\/i>\u201d By that I mean that the Establishment Republicans have utterly misread the rage the of the American people in general and the Republican base in particular.<\/p>\n

POLITICO talked to nearly two dozen major donors, and most say they are waiting for what one veteran Republican and former Bush 43 administration appointee described as the “family hall pass” to jump to another campaign after the New Hampshire primary. <\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m resigned to it being over, frankly. It\u2019s really disappointing,\u201d said one top Bush Wall Street donor. \u201cI\u2019d urge him to get out after New Hampshire if he doesn\u2019t do well, but he probably won\u2019t.” <\/b><\/p>\n

What? You aren’t going down with the ship? What are you? A fair weather donor?<\/p>\n

The deterioration of the Bush campaign has been a humbling experience for his fundraisers. A year ago, even before he was a candidate, Bush’s team was locking down donors across the country and getting commitments for six- and seven-figure checks with little trouble. Donors were pitted against each other to see who could raise more and be in the good graces of the man who, at the time, was described by many in Bush World as the inevitable nominee. <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Don’t these people actually look around at what the average person is saying? Haven’t they been paying any attention to the number of RINO and GOP(e) hacks that have been getting knocked off in their primaries for the last 6 years? Did they think that Eric Cantor was a fluke? Apparently they did. There’s also the issue of loyalty to the Bush family.<\/p>\n

“Hey, I need you to throw away money on Jeb \u2014 out of loyalty,” a Bush fundraiser has told donors recently. <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Donors I’ve talked to are desperate not to abandon Jeb because of their long bonds and loyalty with the family, but they are also recognizing there is no ROI [return on investment] on this campaign,” said Rick Wilson, a veteran Florida political operative who is backing Rubio. “The sense of these folks is it is so sad. They whisper to each other, ‘When will Jeb go?'”<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Juan! Bush will only give up when someone pushes him in front of a bus. Otherwise, he’s going to cling to the campaign trail like a diseased leech.<\/p>\n

Contingency planning among the donor set is in full force. Much of Bush\u2019s Wall Street support network will shift to Rubio. Even those who still see an outside shot for the former Florida governor expect Rubio to emerge as the establishment alternative to Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hah! These morons are a classic example of \u201cGood money after bad.\u201d Rubio is in as much trouble as Bush and for many of the same reasons. What might those reasons be? In a word, immigration, specifically illegal immigration. According to recent polls, Trump and Cruz have something like 65 percent of the vote in Florida, the home state of Bush and Rubio.<\/p>\n

\u201cExpectations are not super high [for Bush]. But people are giving him room to try and break out in New Hampshire,\u201d that donor said. \u201cBut if it doesn\u2019t happen, pretty much everyone is thinking about the three-way alternative: Trump, Cruz or, gulp, [Hillary] Clinton. There isn’t a sense though that Rubio or Christie have got a much better path than Jeb because they are establishment too.\u201d <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hillary Clinton? You can buy her, but she’s not one to stay bought. There’s also the issue of a criminal indictment. It isn’t helping Cankles that Bernie Sanders is actually ahead of her in several states. I can’t see these idiots giving money to Comrade Bernie since his plan is to take any money they have left. The fact that they are even considering donating to Cankles, and that this information is public, is the reason Trump and Cruz are one and two in the GOP race. Whatever happens this election, the Donor Class is going to be slaughtered, and deservedly so.<\/p>\n
