As those who have followed Anger Central over the years have noticed, we don’t like Google very much. Yes, we do use some of their services, but not by choice.<\/p>\n
“Why don’t you like Google” you ask?<\/p>\n
Well it goes back to Google’s Adsense\u00a0falsely\u00a0accusing us of Click fraud. Then there’s Google’s motto, “Don’t be evil.” When it comes to evil, Google could teach Microsoft a thing or two. Gates, Balmer and the others just wanted to own the desktop. Google wants to rule the world.<\/p>\n
Now, what has set me off this time? Google street view. Granted, this is a useful idea, but Google hasn’t been very forthcoming when it comes to hiding people’s faces or identities. Additionally they also won’t delete data that intrudes on people’s privacy.<\/p>\n
Now? It came out a couple of weeks ago that Google’s street view camera cars were also collecting data on WiFi access points.<\/p>\n
“Excuse me? What did you say?”<\/p>\n
Yep, the boneheads at Google apparently were also scanning for open WiFi access points. They found a number of these along with MAC addresses and SSID’s. In other words, they have just provided every cracker on Earth with the means to break into people’s and businesses networks.<\/p>\n
Google claims it was an accident and that they are\u00a0separating\u00a0the data from the Street View database. Sure they are.<\/p>\n
Google’s history towards privacy \u00a0is only slightly better then Facebook’s. If they don’t start cleaning up their acts, they will find themselves getting hammered by our Elected Idiots who know nothing about anything. (Which is why they ran for office)<\/p>\n
Does this Affect Anger Central?<\/p>\n
Yes it does. We have a pair of access points. One is open and the other is locked down tight. The open one is done for a reason. (Compatibility issues) Would you like to see the Anger Central HQ? I’m sure you would.<\/p>\n
Like HELL we’re giving THAT out!<\/p>\n
So, just be aware that if your home or business shows up on Street View, and you have an access point that was in range, they know about it and you. Feel free to be enraged. We are.<\/p>\n
