Good day all. Just after I posted my review of Season IV of House of Cards<\/a>, I saw a headline on Fox saying that Ted Cruz thinks that the Trump supporters are ‘relatively low information,’ not very ‘engaged’.<\/p>\n

If that is Cruz\u2019s way of winning friends and influencing potential voters to switch from Trump to himself, well, it isn\u2019t working. Here are the details from Fox News<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Ted Cruz said in an interview ahead of next week\u2019s critical primaries that Donald Trump\u2019s supporters have \u201crelatively low information\u201d and are \u201cnot that engaged\u201d \u2013 an oblique dig at the very voters Cruz is aggressively courting. <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dig is right. The one thing you don\u2019t want to do is call any potential supporters morons, which is just what Senator Cruz has done, even if he doesn\u2019t realize it.<\/p>\n

The Texas senator, though, said in the interview with CBN News<\/a> that he\u2019s winning over these voters as they \u201cinform themselves\u201d and learn more about Trump\u2019s record. Explaining his comments, he referred to Trump\u2019s past remarks about the \u201cpoorly educated\u201d supporting him. <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I\u2019m not so sure about that. Trump\u2019s people are a cross section of America, covering every income and education level. As I understand it, Trump is doing better with those who didn\u2019t go to collage, but to call them \u201cLow information\u201d is not only insulting, it\u2019s also dead wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cDonald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice,\u201d Cruz told CBN. \u201cWhere we are beating him is when voters get more engaged and they get more informed. When they inform themselves, they realize his record. He\u2019s what they\u2019re angry at. He is the corruption, and if you want someone to stand up to Washington, the only one who has been doing so in this race is me.\u201d<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Is that why Trump is leading in Florida and is either leading, or is close to the lead in Ohio? Are all those voters \u201cUninformed?\u201d<\/p>\n

Cruz\u2019s comments about Trump\u2019s supporters comes ahead of another Republican debate Thursday night in Florida, the site of one of five big primaries next Tuesday. The stakes are higher than ever, as those five primaries could decide the fate of Trump\u2019s remaining rivals.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I have a feeling that Donald Trump is going to drop yet another nuke on Ted Cruz over this remark, just as soon as he gets the wording right. Cruz is not doing himself any favors with all the Frank Underwood<\/a> style dirty tricks. At least Frank Underwood doesn\u2019t insult his supporters where they can hear him. (Note to Ted: House of Cards<\/a> is a novel, not a training manual)<\/p>\n

Originally, I was hoping that Trump and Cruz could pull themselves up from the mud a bit and come together as President and Vice President. Trumps deal making abilities as well and his not being a politician could balance with Ted Cruz\u2019s knowledge of the Senate. (Trump\/Cruz would be the ticket) Cruz seems determined to end any possibility of this. Granted, Trump has been lobbing his share of artillery rounds at Cruz, but I don\u2019t think he\u2019s been insulting the Cruz supporters. We shall see what the primaries bring next week regarding who might be the Republican nominee.<\/p>\n
