The Establishment Republicans have been going after Cruz for years, and when he started running for the Republican Presidential nomination, they doubled down on attacking him. Now, all those people are playing kissy face with Cruz. What\u2019s changed? In two words, Donald Trump. Here are some of the details from the Washington Times<\/a>:<\/p>\n Former Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush endorsed erstwhile rival Sen. Ted Cruz<\/a> on Wednesday, giving Mr. Cruz<\/a> a further boost just hours after he posted a resounding victory in Utah\u2019s caucuses with a stunning 69 percent of the vote.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice that no mention was made regarding Ted Cruz\u2019s crushing defeat by Donald Trump in Arizona, which had more delegates to award? Funny that.<\/p>\n Mr. Bush, who dropped his own bid last month, said Mr. Cruz<\/a> is a \u201cconsistent and principled conservative\u201d and that he gives Republicans their best chance to stop front-runner Donald Trump<\/a> and capture the White House in November.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n First, Juan! Bush wouldn\u2019t know a conservative if one came up and kicked him in his nonexistent testicles. Cruz is what many call a conservative, and for many people he is the second choice after Donald Trump. Mr. Bush joins other former presidential candidates Sen. Lindsey Graham, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and businesswoman Carly Fiorina in backing Mr. Cruz<\/a>. <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Wow! A veritable Who\u2019s Who of RINO\u2019s, political and business failures. Perry alone has failed miserably in two attempts at the White House. Granted he was the Governor of Texas and Cruz is the Senator from Texas, which is one reason he would be expected to endorse him. Juan! Bush? Yeah, nothing like getting the endorsement of someone so thoroughly rejected by everyone.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we\u2019re seeing is that old Reagan coalition coming together,\u201d Mr. Cruz<\/a> said at a campaign stop in New York City. \u201cAcross the spectrum, Republicans are uniting. Independents are uniting, libertarians are uniting, Democrats who are tired of what we\u2019re doing are uniting.\u201d<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Well, Cruz is partially correct. There is a new broad based coalition growing, but it isn\u2019t backing you. It looks like they\u2019re all going for Trump.<\/p>\n Mr. Graham, a South Carolina Republican who has battled Mr. Cruz<\/a> in the Senate, has openly acknowledged that the Texan wasn\u2019t his first choice. But Mr. Graham said he is now the only one left who can stop Mr. Trump<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Lindsey \u201cOh look! A new fabric store!\u201d Graham? Someone who has constantly belittled Cruz? Someone who actually though it would be a good idea if Cruz was assassinated?<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Mr. Graham said that choosing between a Cruz<\/a> nomination and a Trump<\/a> nomination is \u201clike being shot or poisoned.\u201d At a recent press dinner in Washington, Mr. Graham also joked that if someone killed Mr. Cruz<\/a> on the floor of the U.S. Senate and the trial were held there, nobody would vote for a conviction. <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n \u201cThat really was a first for me,\u201d Mr. Cruz<\/a> joked Wednesday. \u201cI\u2019d never before had an event hosted by someone who three weeks earlier publicly called for my murder.\u201d<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Ted Cruz may think these endorsements will help him, and they might help a little. However, he\u2019s failing to see the bigger picture which is to stop Donald Trump at all costs. The plan here is to force a brokered convention. If Cruz manages to keep Trump from getting the nomination on the first ballot, he\u2019s going to find out just how much his new \u201cFriends\u201d really support him.<\/p>\n Bluntly, if it goes that way, a brokered convention, the GOP(e) will toss Cruz over the side with Trump and put a RINO loser in like Mittens Romney or Paul Ryan with an outside possibility of the Hunchback of Ohio, John Kasich. There is no way in Hell they will really allow Cruz to run and possibly win the election.
