ISIS has come to the conclusion that they must have a spy in their midst, and now they are in the process of finding the spy, if he or she exists. When groups, organizations or nations start conducting these types of investigations, they are called \u201cMole Hunts.\u201d Mole hunts can end the careers of totally innocent people. In the case of ISIS, it usually ends with a beheading or two…dozen. Here are some of the details from Fox News<\/a>:<\/p>\n In March, a senior commander with the Islamic State group was driving through northern Syria on orders to lead militants in the fighting there when a drone blasted his vehicle to oblivion.<\/b><\/p>\n The killing of Abu Hayjaa al-Tunsi, a Tunisian jihadi, sparked a panicked hunt within the group’s ranks for spies who could have tipped off the U.S-led coalition about his closely guarded movements. By the time it was over, the group would kill 38 of its own members on suspicion of acting as informants.<\/b><\/p>\n They were among dozens of ISIS members killed by their own leadership in recent months in a vicious purge after a string of airstrikes killed prominent figures. Others have disappeared into prisons and still more have fled, fearing they could be next as the jihadi group turns on itself in the hunt for moles, according to Syrian opposition activists, Kurdish militia commanders, several Iraqi intelligence officials and an informant for the Iraqi government who worked within ISIS’ ranks.<\/b><\/p>\n And I should care about ISIS doing everyone a favor and killing each other, why?<\/p>\n The fear of informants has fueled paranoia among the militants’ ranks. A mobile phone or internet connection can raise suspicions.<\/b><\/p>\n Honestly, if there was an informant, the odds of ISIS finding him or her are close to zero. Once he identified the target, he would have been pulled out of the area. Usually, when we find someone we want to turn into small burnt pieces, it\u2019s usually through a signal intercept or a drone spots them. If the latter, the drones usually watch for a while to get confirmation, then KABOOM!<\/p>\n As a warning to others, ISIS has displayed the bodies of some suspected spies in public \u2014 or used particularly gruesome methods, including reportedly dropping some into a vat of acid.<\/b><\/p>\n Nothing encourages the troops like a nice bath in acid.<\/p>\n In the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the biggest city held by ISIS across its “caliphate” stretching across Syria and Iraq, a succession of militants who held the post of “wali,” or governor, in the province have died in airstrikes.<\/b><\/p>\n As a result, those appointed to governor posts have asked not to be identified and they limit their movements, the Iraqi informant told The Associated Press.<\/b><\/p>\n Iraqi intelligence officials allowed the AP to speak by phone with the informant, who spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing for his life.<\/b><\/p>\n I guess Iraq wants this guy dead anyway, unless he\u2019s already in Germany collecting welfare. Any competent intelligence service would keep their sources as far away as possible from the media in general and Associated (with terrorists) Press in particular.<\/p>\n Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said some ISIS fighters began feeding information to the coalition about targets and movements of the group’s officials because they needed money after the extremist group sharply reduced salaries in the wake of coalition and Russian airstrikes on ISIS-held oil facilities earlier this year.<\/b><\/p>\n BWAHAHAHAHA! I can see it now. The CIA offering cold hard cash for information, the greedy animals that ISIS recruits providing the info and then the CIA carefully pointing the finger at someone who is totally loyal to ISIS and getting them a nice bath in acid. As for those who gave them the information? We own them. They give us any trouble and \u201cHello, ISIS? Did you know that Achmed is selling information to the American infidels?\u201d Since most of these \u201cinformants\u201d are vermin anyway, I can see doing that once their usefulness is over.<\/p>\n “They have executed dozens of fighters on charges of giving information to the coalition or putting (GPS) chips in order for the aircraft to strike at a specific area,” said Abdurrahman, referring to ISIS in Syria.<\/b><\/p>\n I can see lots of mischief the intelligence services can commit. Little things like planting a GPS transmitter on someone and then dropping a hint to ISIS. Paranoia can be so much fun for people with a really vicious sense of humor, and when they\u2019re let off the leash, the CIA and other services can be very amusing.<\/p>\n The militants have responded with methods of their own for rooting out spies, said the informant. For example, they have fed false information to a suspect member about the movements of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and if an airstrike follows on the alleged location, they know the suspect is a spy, he said.<\/b><\/p>\n That\u2019s actually a fairly standard counterintelligence technique. You can read about it in almost any spy novel. What they don\u2019t tell you is there are ways to use that to frame innocent terrorists and protect their sources.<\/p>\n They stop fighters in the street and inspect their mobile phones, sometimes making the fighter call any unusual numbers in front of them to see who they are. <\/b><\/p>\n And the way to defeat that is a burner phone that you don\u2019t carry with you. You leave it someplace carefully hidden and turned off, with the battery removed. Or you get a SIM card and put it into different phones. You do NOT use you\u2019re regular phone to call \u201cReaper Drones \u201cR\u201d Us.\u201d<\/p>\n After the killing of al-Anbari, seven or eight ISIS officials in Mosul were taken into custody and have since disappeared, their fates unknown, said the informant.<\/b><\/p>\n Oh I think we can take a guess as to their fates. They were probably interrogated by the most horrible of torturers alive today. Here\u2019s a picture.<\/p>\n Obviously, I have no idea how we\u2019re getting our targeting information on ISIS. However, the paranoia being generated by the constant killing of high ranking ISIS scum opens the door for all sorts of fun and games by the \u201cDepartment of Dirty Tricks\u201d most intelligence services have.
