Good day all, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. I\u2019m going to let the Loudmouth Idiot<\/i><\/span> Angry Webmaster handle the politics stuff today. I\u2019m going to write about the formally great BBC car show, Top Gear.<\/p>\n

Top Gear is completing it\u2019s latest series, what we on the correct side of the Atlantic call \u201cThe season,\u201d with the new team of presenters, what we call, hosts. Prior to this season, the Top Gear hosts were Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.<\/p>\n

If you recall, about 2 years ago, Jeremy Clarkson got into a small disagreement with a moronic producer and was basically given the sack. (Or as we call it over here, he was fired) James May and Richard Hammond told the BBC to piss off and resigned.<\/p>\n

The BBC owned the Top Gear property and decided \u201cNo problem! We don\u2019t need those three politically incorrect cavemen. We\u2019ll just hire some nice new politically correct, well diversified presenters. They selected someone called Chris Evens. They also added a few others including an American, Matt LeBlanc. Well the ratings are in and it isn\u2019t good news for Stripped Gears. Here are the details from The Verge<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Chris Evans, who headed the Top Gear reboot after the departure of Jeremy Clarkson, has stepped down from the show. Evans was brought in alongside Matt LeBlanc and host of other new faces<\/a> to fill the positions left by Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. The first series of the show had poor ratings<\/a>, with fewer than 2 million viewers tuning into its series finale this weekend \u2014 lower than any episode helmed by Clarkson.<\/b><\/p>\n

Those ratings were bot so much as poor as catastrophic. Evans apparently was a complete prima donna and really didn\u2019t know much about cars. Then another little problem with Mr. Evans cropped up.<\/p>\n

According to <\/b>The Telegraph<\/b><\/i><\/a>, Evans is also being investigated by the police for allegations of sexual assault. The paper reports that Evans is accused of grabbing the breasts of a female colleague in the 1990s. The Metropolitan police confirmed the investigation, adding: “There have been no arrests and no person has been interviewed under caution.” Evans has previously denied these<\/a> and other claims (including that he repeatedly exposed himself to colleagues), describing them as a “witch hunt.”<\/b><\/p>\n

To be honest I would have some serious questions on that accusation. There is no way to prove or disprove it. It\u2019s entirely possible that the woman in question is making the whole thing up and will be looking for a settlement later on. Well that\u2019s for the British legal system to deal with. At least all he is charged with is grabbing some boobs, not punching a boob in the face like Mr. Clarkson. And speaking of Jeremy Clarkson and the rest? What\u2019s going on with them?<\/p>\n

Clarkson, May, and Hammond, have meanwhile moved to Amazon for a new motoring show titled <\/b>The Grand Tour<\/b><\/i>. Amazon has already ordered 36 episodes, with the show expected to air some time later this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

And I have my Amazon Prime account<\/a> all set to go. When the BBC fired Clarkson, and the other two along with the Producer who helped launch the \u201cNew Top Gear,\u201d (which is not the dismal failure of this joke of a Top Gear), it was almost certain that the BBC would have their heads handed to them, and it looks like they have.<\/p>\n

Their version of Top Gear may muddle on for a few more seasons, but if these trends continue, then the show will end and one of the biggest cash generators the BBC has ever had will go away. Meanwhile, Amazon may have a major hit on it\u2019s hands and more money will be rolling into Bezo\u2019s pockets.<\/p>\n
