First, I did not watch this debate. I am going by the stories on various web sites on what happened, and that includes the Mostly Stupid Media. In general, they are saying that the debate was won by Mike Pence in a landslide. Consider that the first Trump\/Felon<\/i><\/span> Clinton debate, it was scored as a narrow win on points for Cankles. This debate isn\u2019t being scored narrowly, it\u2019s showing that Pence torpedoed and sank Kaine. Here is one remark on the debate from Melissa Clouthier<\/a> writing for the American Spectator<\/a>:<\/p>\n This election cycle, a huge percentage of voters are voting against who they hate\/distrust the most. People dislike Hillary Clinton and think she\u2019s a criminal who is above the law and disdains average voters. People worry that Donald Trump has bad judgment and makes stupid decisions. <\/b><\/p>\n For the fence-sitters, Mike Pence made the decision easy: Even-tempered and reasonable, factual and clear-headed, informed and sympathetic, Mike Pence sounded like he could be president. He was reassuring. Tim Kaine made Hillary\u2019s job harder, not easier. He was rude, disrespectful, lied and was just generally a jerk. He looked juvenile and defensive. <\/b><\/p>\n The moderator, Clinton Broadcasting Service, (CBS), anchor, Elaine Quijano, decided to hammer on Pence and generally give Kaine a pass. However, there were several cases where even she had to basically tell Kaine to put a sock in it. Still, according to Fox News<\/a>:<\/p>\n Quijano turned left from the very first question \u2013 citing 1988 liberal, Democratic vice presidential candidate Lloyd Bentsen\u2019s comment about the responsibility of being vice president. She recalled that he said, \u201cif tragedy should occur, the vice president has to step in without any margin for error.\u201d That set the stage perfectly and signaled viewers that the debate was to be seen consistently from the left. And Quijano didn\u2019t disappoint. <\/b><\/p>\n And it also blew Kaine right out of the water and elevated Pence, although that was not her intent. Ms. Quijano gave the Conservative public one question in their favor.<\/p>\n Quijano started out fine, asking Kaine<\/a> how he, \u201cpraised Secretary Clinton’s character, including her commitment to public service, yet 60 percent of voters don’t think she’s trustworthy. Why do so many people distrust her? Is it because they have questions about her emails and the Clinton Foundation?\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n That was it for tough questions to Kaine. After that, she went after Pence. The only problem was, he came off as able to deal with her attacks and appearing to look very vice-presidential, if not presidential. This brings us back to Ms. Clouthier\u2019s column in the American Spectator<\/a>.<\/p>\n Some talking heads are arguing that Pence\u2019s competence outshines Donald Trump\u2019s and reveals Trump\u2019s weaknesses. In fact, that\u2019s the narrative the lefty media is building right now. They can try, but that argument falls flat. Trump\u2019s decision to hire to his weaknesses with Mike Pence shows leadership ability. It\u2019s the first big choice a candidate makes. His decision to pick Mike Pence shows excellent judgment. If his choice of Veep indicates his decision-making as president, Trump is the good manager he claims to be. <\/b><\/p>\n Hillary Clinton\u2019s decision to pick a toady like Kaine also demonstrates her judgment. He\u2019s as likable as her\u2013nasty, aggressive and hostile. So two unlikable Democrats. Swell. <\/b><\/p>\n There has been some talk that Trump isn\u2019t so interested in policy and that his Vice President will be given power that few other Vice Presidents have ever enjoyed. If true, that also bodes well. Pence is adept policy-wise and worked for twelve years in Congress. As he reminded Tim Kaine twice, he\u2019ll be happy to work with the opposition on the Hill.<\/b><\/p>\n And that is the thing. Trump, unlike Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, doesn\u2019t consider himself the smartest guy in the room. He knows that he doesn\u2019t know everything, and he will then move to either educate himself, or hire someone who can handle the job for him. His most important hire has just demonstrated that he is up to the job.<\/p>\n In perusing the Internet, the word \u201cDebacle\u201d is being used with regards to Tim Kaine\u2019s performance. All of the \u201cMain Stream Media\u201d are saying that he failed completely to show that if required, he could step in and take over in case Cankles is unable to carry out the duties of Supreme Leader and Overlord<\/i><\/span> President of the United States. How this will play out in the polls remains to be seen. If Trump does significantly better in the next debate, then he will be the next president.
