Good day all. Yesterday I wrote about the former Pennsylvania Attorney General, Kathleen Kane<\/a> being sentenced to prison for her crimes, including perjury. Now we have another member of the judicial branch, Arnold Ogden Jones II.<\/p>\n

What makes Mr. Jones special is that he is, or was, now that he is a convict, a judge in North Carolina. What makes him stupid is what he was charged with. Here are the details on this criminal genius from Fox News:<\/p>\n

Federal prosecutors say a North Carolina judge has been convicted of bribery after he offered Bud Light and cash to an officer in exchange for text messages from his wife’s cellphone because he suspected she was cheating on him.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ok, the cash I can understand, but the Bud Light? That\u2019s just insulting.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Attorney’s office said Friday that a jury deliberated for 33 minutes before finding Superior Court Judge Arnold Ogden Jones II guilty of paying a bribe and other charges. <\/b><\/p>\n

33 minutes? Wasn\u2019t that an episode of the reimaged version of Battlestar Galactica? Why yes, It was<\/a>. In any case, that was a jury that took all of 2 minutes to convict this idiot. The rest of the time would have been taken up by paperwork, selecting a foreman and moving between the jury room and the court room. I believe the phrase used here is \u201cOpen and shut\u201d.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say Jones asked a Wayne County deputy, who is also a member of an FBI gang task force, to get him copies of the text messages in October 2015, even though the law prevents him from receiving them.<\/b><\/p>\n

Jones offered \u201ca couple of cases of beer\u201d to the officer but ultimately agreed to hand over $100 instead, according to the indictment. <\/b><\/p>\n

Cash would be a lot easier to present to a jury than the equivalent in equine urine<\/i><\/span> Budweiser\u2019s Bud Light.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe jury\u2019s verdict affirms a bedrock principle of the rule of law,\u201d John Bruce, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, responded.<\/b><\/p>\n

I think the jury couldn\u2019t believe this guy was that stupid.<\/p>\n

An attorney for Jones told The News & Observer of Raleigh<\/a> that his client remains on the November ballot and plans to appeal the verdict.<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure his opponent is all set with his latest campaign commercials. \u201cAt least I\u2019m not a convicted felon, and I have much better taste in beer, much like the voters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe and his family appreciate all the support he has had,\u201d defense attorney Geoff Hulse said. <\/b><\/p>\n
