The reason for the panic was Barack Obama. This would give him the chance to flip the Supreme Court to the hard left and basically end the constitutional rights of anyone who disagreed with the Progressives. However, there was one small issue for Obama. The Senate had turned Republican and Senate Majority leader Mitch \u201cThe Turtle\u201d McConnell wasn\u2019t about to let Obama put yet another progressive on the bench.<\/p>\n
Obama put forward Merrick Garland as his choice to replace Scalia. Garland is currently a judge on the D.C. circuit court of appeals. When he was nominated, people started looking into his rulings and his writings and didn\u2019t like what they saw. To begin with, Garland never met a regulation he didn\u2019t like if it favored the government, and he was not fond of the 2nd<\/sup> Amendment. Because of this, McConnell sat on the appointment and wouldn\u2019t let hearings be held on Garland. As it turns out, McConnell was correct in his decision.<\/p>\n Now we have President Trump, and he\u2019s been looking at good people to replace Justice Scalia. Some of the names that have been floated have made Conservatives and constitutionalists rather happy and Progressive Liberal Democrats stark raving bonkers. Now the Progressives Democrats in the senate are gearing up to \u201cStop Trump\u2019s Nominee!!\u201d Here are the details from the New York Slime<\/i><\/span> Times<\/a>:<\/p>\n Democrats and their allies remain furious that Senate Republicans refused to even consider Judge Garland, President Barack Obama\u2019s nominee to the high court, with 10 months remaining in Mr. Obama\u2019s second term. That deep resentment is certain to color their handling of Mr. Trump\u2019s choice just as it has contributed to their resistance to moving quickly on Mr. Trump\u2019s cabinet selections. <\/b><\/p>\n All indications are that they see the forthcoming nomination as a chance to take a strong stand against the new president, since they still have the power to filibuster<\/a> a Supreme Court choice \u2014 at least for now. <\/b><\/p>\n Well now, about that filibuster. To paraphrase Barack Obama, \u201cIf you like your filibuster, you can keep your filibuster.” Right up until Mitch McConnell channels former majority leader Dingy Harry Reid and nukes it.<\/p>\n Top Democrats say they don\u2019t intend to play \u201ctit for tat\u201d with the nomination. But they say they will insist on what they consider to be a mainstream candidate capable of securing at least the 60 votes needed to thwart any filibuster. Otherwise, they promise to do whatever they can to block the nominee. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cWe are not going to do what the Republicans did,\u201d said Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, \u201cbut if the candidate\u2019s out of the mainstream, I can tell you I will fight and my caucus will fight tooth and nail against them.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n For UpChuck Schumer and the rest of the totalitarian Progressive Democrats, their idea of a \u201cMainstream\u201d nominee for the Supreme Court is one who considers the Constitution to be an obsolete document that is no longer valid in today\u2019s world, and that it should be \u201cinterpreted\u201d right out of existence.<\/p>\n The New York Slime<\/i><\/span> Times takes a while to come out and say what the results will be for UpChuck and the rest of the Hitler Youth<\/i><\/span> Progressive Democrats. That thanks to the previous majority leader, the precedent for doing away with the filibuster is now on the table, and that the Democrats don\u2019t have a leg to stand on. Whoever is Trump\u2019s choice, he or she will be the next associate justice of the United States Supreme Court.<\/p>\n In addition, there may be as many three more justices who will either retire or die, and this will allow Trump to crush the progressives alternate means of tyranny once and for all. There are way to many judges, primarily on the left, who think that they should be the ones who make law, and that the Constitution doesn\u2019t mean what it says. For decades, the progressive Democrats, knowing that most people don\u2019t agree with what they want, used the courts to bypass congress and impose, by judicial fiat, their progressive, totalitarian agenda. Now things have changed and the progressives are seeing the writing on the wall.
