The MSM has been denying that there was any voter fraud at all. They\u2019re just accusing those who think it happened with being racists, sexists, homophobes and Republicans. However, there is this little story that came out of Texas last week. A Mexican national, who is legally in the United States, (Green card holder), was just sentenced to 8 years in prison for committing voter fraud. Here are some of the details from the Star-Telegram<\/a>:<\/p>\n In a case that state Attorney General Ken Paxton said \u201cshows how serious Texas is about keeping its elections secure,\u201d a Grand Prairie woman who isn\u2019t a U.S. citizen was sentenced to eight years in prison Thursday for voting illegally. <\/b><\/p>\n A Tarrant County jury handed down the sentence after finding Rosa Maria Ortega, 37, guilty Wednesday <\/a>of voting in Dallas County in the 2012 general election and the 2014 Republican primary runoff. Ortega has a green card. <\/b><\/p>\n Ortega, a mother of four children ages 12 to 16, was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined $5,000 on each of two counts of illegal voting. The sentences will be served concurrently. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cThis case shows how serious Texas is about keeping its elections secure, and the outcome sends a message that violators of the state\u2019s election law will be prosecuted to the fullest,\u201d Paxton said in an emailed statement. \u201cSafeguarding the integrity of our elections is essential to preserving our democracy.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n Ms. Ortega has been in the United States legally for a long time. She easily met the requirements to apply for and be granted United States citizenship. If she had done that, then she wouldn\u2019t be on her way to \u201cThe house of many doors\u201d for the next 8 years, followed by getting booted from the United States forever.<\/p>\n Ortega will be eligible for parole after she serves two years in prison, her attorney, Clark Birdsall, said, but she will be immediately deported after she finishes her sentence. Birdsall said he blamed Ortega\u2019s sentence on President Donald Trump\u2019s insistence that illegal voting by illegal immigrants cost him the popular vote. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cDonald Trump has this country at war with one another over this illegal immigration situation,\u201d Birdsall said. \u201cWhat should have been reduced to a misdemeanor or pled out has resulted in an eight-year sentence. And the ironic thing is she voted Republican.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t matter who she voted for, she was not entitled to vote. If she couldn\u2019t be bothered to apply for citizenship, then she broke the law and is now being punished for it.<\/p>\n Prosecutors presented evidence during Ortega\u2019s trial this week <\/a>that she had voted in five Dallas County elections since 2004 before she moved to the Tarrant County portion of Grand Prairie and submitted a voter registration application for her new address. <\/b><\/p>\n Ortega testified on Wednesday that until \u2014 and even after \u2014 she got a letter in October 2013 from the Tarrant County elections office rejecting her application, she believed she had the right to vote. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cI was shocked,\u201d Ortega testified about being turned down. <\/b><\/p>\n I think I can see why she was able to vote in Dallas county. That is a heavily Democrat area, and as we all know, Democrats really aren\u2019t interested in anything except the Democrat party. However, there was another little problem for Ms. Ortega.<\/p>\n Prosecutors said that Ortega, after being rejected, requested another voter registration application by phone, completed it and returned it to Tarrant County, checking the box that indicated that she was a U.S. citizen<\/i>. <\/b>(Italics mine, AW)<\/i><\/p>\n She knew she wasn\u2019t a U.S. Citizen and checked off the box indicating she was. If you read those forms, they all say that lying on them is considered perjury and is a crime. Even then, she still could have avoided prosecution and conviction.<\/p>\n \u201cShe put herself here,\u201d Jonathan White, assistant attorney general, said during his closing arguments Wednesday. \u201cWe would not be here today had she not picked up the phone and called [Tarrant County elections clerk] Delores Stevens. If she had taken no for an answer, all of this would have been swept away.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n And now she has thrown it all away. In 2 years or so, she will be paroled, and then she will be handed over to ICE and kicked out of the country. She will never be allowed back in.
