Yes, it\u2019s true. There are actual businesses out there that are stating they will \u201cGive sanctuary\u201d to illegal aliens. It won\u2019t surprise you one bit that this is happening in San Francisco. The Bay Area is home to about two dozen participating restaurants, including Alfred\u2019s Steakhouse in San Francisco, Cancun Sabor Mexicano in Berkeley and Flea Street in Menlo Park. <\/b><\/p>\n So how does this work? You hire known illegal aliens and you don\u2019t bother with things like E-Verify, taxes or anything you would with American citizens and legal aliens?<\/p>\n Largely symbolic in nature, the collaboration is led by the Restaurant Opportunities Center United and promotes safe, tolerant spaces to restaurant workers, employers and consumers. While the sanctuary restaurant label doesn\u2019t protect immigrants from law enforcement, the classification does spur business owners to educate themselves and their staff about how to handle federal officials during possible raids. <\/b><\/p>\n Well now, the correct way to deal with an ICE raid is to cooperate fully. Why is this? Because if you don\u2019t, and they find you have illegal aliens working under the table, you\u2019re going to be arrested, charged, and in all probability, convicted. Once she completes her prison sentence, she\u2019s gone.<\/p>\n Finally, in case you think it\u2019s a good idea to knowingly hire or otherwise protect an illegal alien, here\u2019s the relevant statute<\/a>:<\/p>\n 8 U.S. Code \u00a7 1324 – Bringing in and harboring certain aliens<\/b><\/p>\n (A) Any person who\u2014 <\/b><\/p>\n (i) knowing that a person is an alien, brings to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien;<\/b><\/p>\n (ii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law;<\/b><\/p>\n (iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;<\/b><\/p>\n (iv) encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law; or<\/b><\/p>\n (v) <\/b><\/p>\n (I) engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or<\/b><\/p>\n (II) aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts,<\/b><\/p>\n shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B).<\/b><\/p>\n And what is the specified punishment in subparagraph (B)? Depending on what happens, the minimum is 5 years, and the maximum is death. So you Moonbats might want to consider what the new political environment is going to be these days. You have placed a very large bullseye on your businesses. You will be investigated, although I expect it will be very subtle, and if ICE has reason to believe you are harboring criminal aliens, they are going to raid you. If you have been harboring them, expect to be prosecuted.
