Pretty low it seems. Good day all. As the Florida electric companies work to restore power, they\u2019ve started running into an unanticipated situation. There are looters who are stealing the power poles.<\/p>\n

In a situation such as what\u2019s happened in Florida due to the hurricane, line crews fully expect to have to replace snapped power poles. They have spares and they have a rough idea how many they may need. What they never planned for was these incredibly stupid idiots thinking that it was a great idea to steal the poles. Here are some of the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Two men were arrested Wednesday after an officer found a utility pole strapped to the top of a vehicle in Jacksonville, days after Hurricane Irma<\/a> spawned severe flooding in the city, as cops across the Sunshine State work overtime to nab thieves impeding recovery efforts. <\/b>The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office tweeted a picture of the shirtless men sitting handcuffed on the sidewalk. <\/b><\/p>\n

“These two were caught stealing a JEA pole just this morning! Citizens watching out and officers cleaning up = partnership! #Irma #JSO,” the sheriff’s office wrote. <\/b><\/p>\n

I won\u2019t bother posting the picture<\/b><\/a>, you can see it on Fox News\u2019s site. Suffice to say, even though it doesn\u2019t give a clear picture of these moron\u2019s faces, what you can see is enough to ask, \u201cWhy didn\u2019t your mothers keep their legs closed and pants on?\u201d<\/p>\n

Police said 42-year-old Blake Lee Waller and 46-year-old Victor Walter Apeler were arrested on grand theft charges after someone reported seeing them load the pole onto a sports utility vehicle. <\/b><\/p>\n

When I first saw the headline, I thought the poles in question were the wooden ones. Nope, these were made of metal. I suspect they stole it for the scrap value. I also doubt that they just happened to find this lying on the ground. They probably dismantled it. Of course, the accused idiots claim \u201cIt\u2019s all just a misunderstanding officer! Really!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Apeler told investigators he was moving the pole because it was on the ground close to traffic lanes, according to the report. <\/b><\/p>\n

Among the many faults of this criminal mastermind, one of them seems to be a complete lack of understanding about how computers and two-way radios work.<\/p>\n

A database search found Apeler had 72 scrap metal-related transactions for recycling since January.<\/b><\/p>\n

I wonder how many other poles have gone missing thanks to these slug brains? In my honest opinion, they should make these two reinstall the pole, under the supervision of a line crew, then hang them from it along with all the other looters they\u2019re catching.<\/p>\n

More than 50 suspected looters were arrested during Hurricane Irma, with 26 of them accused of breaking into the same Walmart store on the north side of Miami, Reuters reported. Miami Deputy Chief Luis Cabrera issued a stern warning to would-be looters as officers began their 12-hour shifts. <\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cI said we would not tolerate criminal activity or looting or anybody who takes advantage of our residents,\u201d Cabrera said at a news conference Tuesday. \u201cI was not joking.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n

Nice, but the correct statement should be \u201cLooter will be shot on sight! Survivors will be shot again!\u201d From what I\u2019ve been hearing, the average citizen is not looking at looters in a forgiving manner. Some people are putting out the traditional \u201cYou loot, we shoot!\u201d billboards in hurricane ravaged areas. I have a suspicion someone is going to turn a few looters into gator chow pretty soon. I, for one, am only concerned that the gators might get upset stomachs. We don\u2019t need PETA making a nuisance of themselves over alleged poisoning of alligators.<\/p>\n
