The story of Pervy Winestain, aka Harvey Weinstein, continues and is now dragging down others. These were people who covered for Pervy. The story begins on MSNBC when Rachel Maddow asked the reporter, Ronan Farrow, who broke the story on Pervy Winestain why it wasn\u2019t run on NBC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>When Maddow asked why Farrow&#8217;s feature ended up at <\/b><em><b>The New Yorker <\/b><\/em><b>rather than at NBC, where he is employed as a correspondent, he replied, &#8220;You would have to ask NBC and NBC executives about the details. I&#8217;m not going to comment on any news organization&#8217;s story that they did or did not run.&#8221; <\/b><\/p>\n<p>This has set NBC scrambling. Bluntly, spiking this story is similar to what happened back in the 90\u2019s when Time spiked the Monica Lewinski story and Matt Drudge, founder of the Drudge Report found it and ran with it. That was the story that made the Drudge Report. As for NBC\u2019s excuses, here are some of the details, NOT from NBC, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180305214053\/http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/2017\/10\/11\/embarrassment-at-nbc-as-it-passes-on-another-explosive-sex-harassment-story.html\"><b>but from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>NBC News is under fire inside and outside of 30 Rock for passing on the story that has turned Hollywood on its head &#8211; movie producer Harvey Weinstein&#8217;s decades of preying on women seeking to break into the movie business. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/07\/fa\/ab\/07faab830c127e5375f061bdc022bf21.jpg?resize=388%2C218&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"388\" height=\"218\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>The Peacock&#8217;s attempts to explain why former MSNBC host Ronan Farrow&#8217;s expose on Weinstein never made it on the air, despite extensive, on-the-record interviews and a damning audiotape of Weinstein himself, have fallen flat as the story has exploded. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-23127\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner-246x300.jpg?resize=246%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"246\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner.jpg?resize=246%2C300&amp;ssl=1 246w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner.jpg?w=442&amp;ssl=1 442w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201c<b>Who at NBC News passed on this story?&#8221; asked Mediaite columnist and Managing Editor Colby Hall. &#8220;Why would they choose not to cover such an enormous and important story? And was there some sort of mandate from above?\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Oh I think we know the answer to this. The story was ordered killed since it would have done just what it is doing now. Torpedoing Pervy Winestain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Farrow, who took his story to The New Yorker with an 7,741-word opus that may have driven a stake through the heart of one of Hollywood&#8217;s biggest power players, reportedly worked on the story for nearly a year. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>This, ladies and gentlemen, is what old school reporting is. Doing the hard work and taking the time to get all the facts. Something that people who call themselves \u201cJournalists\u201d are loathe to do. As to the excuse used by NBC News to spike the story?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Farrow, who had his show canceled in 2015 and now has a non-exclusive relationship with NBC, was told months before publication his Weinstein scoop didn\u2019t meet NBC\u2019s standards. An NBC insider said Farrow\u2019s story didn\u2019t have a specific accuser willing to go on the record at the time <\/b><\/p>\n<p>NBC has standards? Actually, I think it went into the equivalent of lunar orbit in newsworthiness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Well, it was not only newsworthy, it dominated the entire news cycle and rocked the entertainment industry with new allegations of rape and harassment by one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Donald-Trump.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-20619\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Donald-Trump-300x214.jpg?resize=300%2C214\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Donald-Trump.jpg?resize=300%2C214&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Donald-Trump.jpg?resize=768%2C548&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Donald-Trump.jpg?resize=1024%2C731&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Donald-Trump.jpg?resize=500%2C357&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Donald-Trump.jpg?w=1180&amp;ssl=1 1180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the second time NBC blew a story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Roughly one year ago, NBC News sat on the infamous \u201cAccess Hollywood\u201d tape of then-candidate Trump making lewd sexual comments about women. The Washington Post broke the story while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/style\/nbc-delayed-publication-of-lewd-trump-tape-because-of-lawsuit-fears\/2016\/10\/08\/a3c6850e-8db9-11e6-875e-2c1bfe943b66_story.html?utm_term=.07234c2e64b5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NBC News corporate lawyers reportedly considered<\/a> what to do with the video \u2013 and the Post took just five hours to vet the same footage.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Trump locker room story was basically an attempt to kill his campaign and get Felonia von Pantsuit elected. It did do some damage, but failed in it\u2019s goal of getting Felonia elected. What it did do was show just how many in the GOP(e) were perfectly willing to have President von Pantsuit if it meant stopping Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, it showed that Trump talks like your average guy in a locker room. He never assaulted women. Pervy Winestain used his position to do just that. Basically, President Trump talked the talk, but Pervy Winestain walked the walk&#8230;right into a buzzsaw.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>NBC News President Noah Oppenheim made the decision not to run Farrow\u2019s story, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/how-nbc-killed-ronan-farrows-weinstein-expose\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Daily Beast<\/a>. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-20636\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face-300x225.png?resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Oppenheim is a screenwriter who has often told industry colleagues that he\u2019s likely to one day return to Hollywood and resume that career. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>I think we just found the reason why the story was spiked. I think Oppenheim can kiss his plans goodbye now. I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if he ended up being invited to seek other opportunities elsewhere by NBC\u2019s board of directors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/nelson2.gif\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14000\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/nelson2.gif?resize=300%2C217\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When Farrow was told his story wasn\u2019t going to be run, he went to the New Yorker. As they say, what happened next is why some periodicals get Pulitzers and others get shown the door.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Farrow disagreed when Maddow brought up NBC\u2019s claim that the story didn\u2019t meet the network\u2019s standards, saying he \u201cwalked into the door\u201d of The New Yorker and the magazine \u201cimmediately\u201d recognized that the story was ready for publication. Farrow said it is not accurate to say the story wasn\u2019t ready for publication when NBC passed on it. <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201c<b>In fact, there were multiple determinations that it was reportable at NBC,\u201d he said. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/headdesk.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-17445\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/headdesk-300x225.jpg?resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/headdesk.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/headdesk.jpg?w=449&amp;ssl=1 449w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As for NBC\u2019s Oppenheim, he had this load of horse manure to say.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Oppenheim <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Erik_Hayden\/status\/918161298214363136\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">issued a statement<\/a> saying, among other things, \u201cThe notion that we would try to cover for a powerful person is deeply offensive to all of us\u2026 we didn\u2019t feel we had all the elements that we needed to air it.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/41\/77\/65\/417765e51dfcfcb4b4c62fd53e32dac0.jpg?resize=393%2C185&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"393\" height=\"185\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yashar\/status\/918147994901536769\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the HuffPost reporter<\/a> who brought NBC\u2019s decision to light responded to the statement, reminding readers that NBC News had audio of Weinstein admitting sexual assault.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/35\/3b\/cd\/353bcd3d24ce03c0b3d66439c851b4c7.jpg?resize=276%2C182&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"276\" height=\"182\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>NBC\u2019s handling of Weinstein\u2019s sexual harassment allegations have been curious from the start. The HuffPost\u2019s Yashar Ali <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/entry\/harvey-weinstein-nbc-news_us_59d7e4eee4b046f5ad983597\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pointed out last week<\/a> that CBS and ABC covered the initial New York Times report, but \u201cNBC Nightly News\u201d failed to cover it and \u201cToday\u201d didn\u2019t give it nearly as much attention as NBC\u2019s rivals. In addition, NBC\u2019s \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d failed to address the Weinstein scandal. The show\u2019s creator, Lorne Michaels, told the Daily Mail that, \u201cIt\u2019s a New York thing,\u201d when he was asked why the show avoided the Weinstein allegations. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Oh I think it\u2019s safe to say Oppenheim was trying to protect Pervy Winestain, and his potential return to Hollywood. This begs the question, what was NBC Management thinking when they hired a screenwriter to manage the News division? Shouldn\u2019t they have put someone in place who has a history of, oh I don\u2019t know, working in the news field?<\/p>\n<p>Now a few facts. Roan Farrow is Mia Farrow\u2019s son. His mother accused Woody Allen of molesting her adopted daughter, who he later married. This was the excuse used by NBC to spike the story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Insiders tell Fox News that Farrow &#8212; who\u2019s publicly supported his mother Mia Farrow\u2019s campaign to accuse Farrow\u2019s father, Woody Allen, of molesting an adopted daughter \u2013 lacked credibility within NBC as a journalist, especially on the topic of celebrities accused of sexual offenses. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Well, I guess Farrow has proven them wrong, hasn\u2019t he?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>NBC denies these issues had anything to do with their decision to kill the Weinstein story. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/steaming_pile_of_horseshit.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-20194\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/steaming_pile_of_horseshit-300x223.jpg?resize=300%2C223\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/steaming_pile_of_horseshit.jpg?resize=300%2C223&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/steaming_pile_of_horseshit.jpg?w=500&amp;ssl=1 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>But Oppenheim and his boss, Andy Lack &#8212; already under considerable pressure over their hugely expensive hire of Megyn Kelly \u2013 are now scrambling again to give a credible explanation for why they sat on an explosive audiotape of a powerful man behaving badly. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Good luck with that. NBC was scooped big time, and it\u2019s beginning to look like the bigwigs were actively protecting Pervy Winestain. The one thing any news agency can\u2019t afford to have, (Or at least they used to), is a loss of credibility. We\u2019ve been watching most of the Main Stream Media going after President Trump tooth and nail, publishing stories that later turned out to be wrong, and in many cases, outright false.<\/p>\n<p>I really doubt that Roan Farrow likes President Trump, but that does not lessen the hard work and good reporting he did in writing this story. Besides sinking Pervy Winestain, he may have taken out a few bigwigs at NBC, as well as a few of Pervy\u2019s enablers in Hollywood. He definitely should be given a pat on the back for this one.
