Over the last few weeks, the Spanish have been dealing with a province that wants to become independent, not unlike the moonbats in California. Last week, the Spanish government decided to go full ham handed and came down hard on Catalonia.

I’m not going to go into why Catalonia wants to break away from Spain. I do not have the information about what’s happening there, and like pretty much everyone in the United States, don’t care one way or the other. However, we have our own province, or what we call a state, that wants to do the same thing. Since Donald Trump crushed Felonia von Pantsuit, there have been a number of people calling for “Calexit”, (Based in Brexit, Great Britain’s vote to leave the EU).

It occurred to me, after my 12th martini, just how the two peoples, Americans and Spanish, are viewing the two secession movements. As I mentioned, the Spanish Government has decided to go full oppression and take over all governmental functions in Catalonia. The equivalent would be the Federal government declaring martial law in California and removing the governor, the entire legislature, all the judges and most if not all the city governments.

However, there might be a different point of view here. Frankly, most of America is pretty fed up with the totalitarian tendencies of California and we might not actually complain all that much if they bailed out. In fact, there are a number of people asking California, “HEY! You idiots, why are you still here? Go on, get out already!”

This seems to be different from what’s happening in Spain with regards to Catalonia. From what little I can see, when I actually care to look, it seems that people in Spain aren’t at all thrilled with Catalonia’s desires to leave the building. This is why the Spanish government is now moving in and crushing all dissent, just like Francisco Franco used to do.

I can’t say what would happen if California actually tried to leave, but I can guess what may happen. First, we don’t want another Civil War in this country, which is what would happen if we had to deploy troops into the State. Second, only about 30% of the residents actually think it would be a great idea to leave the union. Most of these are the Moonbats who live in the coastal areas along with Silicon Valley. The rest don’t want to leave the United States.

If “Calexit” occurred, you can bet that the other 70% of the residents would promptly secede from the newly formed “People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornistan” and petition for admittance back into the United States. They would be welcomed back, probably as several new states. This would put a major hole in what passes for California’s tax base.

Another thing that would happen would be the cutting off of all the water and power now sent into Kalifornistan from other states. Currently, California doesn’t generate all the power it needs internally, and their water issues are legendary. The next problem would be food production. California has the ability to feed itself, provided the proglodytes in Sacramento are kept in check. A large number of those farms will be in areas that decided to remain in the United States. Even so, enough could remain to feed the remainders. Of course, the Sacramento Socialists will decided who farms should work, and in short order, rationing would be required.

As for any military, all Kalifornistan might get is the old bases. I should say, they will get the land. If we pull our forces out of the “New Nation”, we won’t leave anything, and that includes rolling up the runways and bringing them out as well.

Now the new People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornistan might decide to lease bases to nations not entirely friendly with the United States. I can say with certainty, that won’t be allowed. If the Chinese or the Russians were offered basing rights, the new People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornistan would find their ports blockaded, and any ships trying to bring in foreign troops and equipment flat out threatened.

The very attempt to make such a treaty might even be all it takes for the United States to invade and occupy the People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornistan. The occupation would not be gentle either. Since the residents who were formally citizens of the United States had given up that citizenship, they would be considered enemies and their rights severely limited.

Basically, what appears to be happening in Catalonia now is what would happen if the People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornistan became hostile. The difference is, we would wait a while before we crushed the rebels.

However, that scenario isn’t all that likely. Other countries that might like to take advantage of such a situation would be flat out told, probably in private, that any attempt to move into North America would be met with force. Therefore, they wouldn’t risk it. What is far more likely, if Calexit were to occur, is total economic collapse within a couple of years

California likes to brag that they’re the 8th largest economy in the world. This was once true, but that was long ago. Today, California is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. They are taxing and regulating the productive citizens of the state right into Texas, Nevada, Arizona and the other 49 states. (Well, actually closer to 45 states. The ones run by Democrats all are facing financial collapse)

California has a massive structural debt, and the state legislature is so full of incompetent Marxists, that they can’t see what a disaster is heading in their direction. If California seceded, they would lose all federal money, and would have to arrange trade deals with the United States. In fairly short order, the People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornistan would run out of other people’s money and quickly become the North American version of Venezuela. They would be begging to be let back into the Union.

Now I’ve heard, and I may be very wrong here, that Catalonia actually does have a good economy and potentially could pull off being independent. As I don’t know much about the region, I can’t say. I doubt that the European Union would want to have anything to do with them, but the rest of the world, starting with the United States, would. If they have stuff we want to buy, and we have stuff they want, we will do a deal. As for the EU?

Well, there’s my thought piece for the day. How accurate I am, I have absolutely no idea, and an even bigger lack of giving a damn. From what I”m reading regarding Catalonia, I think the Spanish Government may have just put their foot in it big time. Hopefully, everything over there can be resolved without violence from either side. As for Calexit? I think a majority of Americans might just say…

Thatisall

~The Angry Webmaster~

[yasr_visitor_votes size=”large”]

Good day all.
