Good day all. The winter Olympics in South Korea have begun. One of the problems is, no one is paying any attention to them. This has led to stories coming out to try and generate interest and controversy.<\/p>\n

One such story, that first appeared on the Drudge Report<\/a>, reported on a few culinary problems. Here are the details from CBS News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Canadian figure skater Meagan Duhamel is hoping to win a gold medal in South Korea this month – though no prize could be more life-changing than her previous Pyeongchang<\/a> souvenir. <\/b>Not after last year, when the two-time world champion pairs skater brought home Moo-tae – an affable miniature dachshund mix with big ears, bowed legs and the bad luck of being born into the Korean dog meat trade. Duhamel, a vegan and animal lover, helped rescue Moo-tae by accompanying him on his flight from South Korea to Canada last February. <\/b><\/p>\n

So, Ms. Duhamel, a visitor to South Korea, objects to the culinary choices of her hosts? How Spoiled Brat<\/i><\/span> Progressive of her, desiring to impose her views on others.<\/p>\n

D<\/b>espite pressure from animal rights groups<\/a> – particularly from Western countries – Pyeongchang won’t completely shelter Olympic visitors from the trade this month. Area restaurants were offered government aid if they stopped selling dog meat, but some declined to change their menus, fearing they’d spurn regular patrons and be left without customers once the tourists left town. <\/b><\/p>\n

“I have been selling dog meat for decades. It is really difficult for me to change my menu just because of the Olympics,” said Park Young-ae, 60, whose Young Hoon Restaurant is nearly in the shadow of the Olympic Stadium. <\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Good for her! She knows her customers and these Olympic level precious snowflakes will melt away in a couple of weeks. Screw them!<\/p>\n

A Gangwon province official told The Associated Press there were no plans to relocate dog farms situated near Olympic areas. There is one farm near Pyeongchang; six near Jeongseon, where the downhill skiing course is located; and 10 in Gangnueng, the coastal town that will host events like figure skating and hockey. Gangwon has 196 registered dog farms, though most are closer to Seoul. <\/b><\/p>\n

Personally I have no interest in chowing down on Fido. However, I suspect that I may have had some Fido with the possibility of a side of Fluffy. I have visited China and the interesting grins of my hosts was…concerning.<\/p>\n

I simply didn\u2019t ask and just ate. I certainly did NOT lecture my hosts on why Americans don\u2019t consider Fido to be an appropriate item on the menu. But then, I\u2019m a polite guest, and if I don\u2019t care for something, I politely decline and move on. I don\u2019t try telling my hosts they are cruel and bad people. Unfortunately, Progressives are rude, obnoxious guests, and they will tell others how to live their lives and what to eat. Then they will go home feeling all superior, leaving a really bad taste in the host country\u2019s collective mouths.<\/p>\n

As a public service, and as a dig at the Moonbats out there, allow me to provide a recipe or two from Cook your pet<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Flat Iron Puppy Steak With Three Pepper Rub<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a treat your whole family can enjoy. Puppy meat is one of the tenderest meats there is. My personal favorite is lab puppies, though any breed will do (use more puppies for smaller breeds). One medium-sized puppy will serve two adults or four children. It is preferable to slaughter the puppies while they are still weaning.<\/p>\n

Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n

2 lbs flat iron puppy steaks (no older than six weeks)
\n1 tablespoon smoked paprika
\n2 teaspoons salt
\n1 teaspoon brown sugar
\n2 teaspoons chili powder
\n1 teaspoon dried chipotle powder
\n1\/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
\n1\/2 teaspoon garlic powder
\n1\/2 teaspoon onion powder
\n1\/2 teaspoon ground cumin<\/p>\n

Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stir together the paprika, salt, sugar, chili powder, chipotle powder, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin in a small bowl until blended. Rub the seasoning mix all over the flat iron puppy steaks, then wrap them tightly with plastic wrap. Marinate in the refrigerator 2 to 8 hours (the longer the better). Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil grate. Cook the steaks on the preheated grill until cooked to your desired degree of doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium. Allow the steaks to rest for 5 minutes in a warm location before slicing.<\/p>\n

Serving Suggestion<\/strong><\/p>\n

Use the puppy’s heads to top off the display, Place a small cut-out portion of the puppy’s fur adhered to toothpicks to garnish each serving. Eat up and enjoy!<\/p>\n

Brown Rice Kitten Cassarole<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is nothing tastier than kitten meat. Properly cooked, it tastes like a cross between chicken and cornish game hen. For true kitten meat connosiers, there is nothing better than kitten meat from kittens that were skinned alive. My six and eight year old just love it, and not only that, but I get them to help by holding the kittens as I remove their fur just prior to slitting their little throats (the kittens, not my kids:) We can hardly wait as each new littler is born to be able to make this tasty meal. And, by the way, the meat from newly-born kittens makes for great hors d’oeuvres if you’re having any kind of get together, though plan ahead and freeze the kitten meat so you have at least four or five litters worth.<\/p>\n

Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n

2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of asparagus soup
\n10 3\/4 fluid ounces milk
\n1 1\/2 cups water
\n1 pound chopped cooked kittens (use 6 kittens for a family of four)
\n1 cup uncooked brown rice
\n2 (14.5 ounce) cans French cut green beans
\n1 1\/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
\n1 cup chopped onion
\n3 cloves garlic, crushed
\n1 tablespoon dried parsley
\n1 1\/2 teaspoons dried basil
\n1 teaspoon dried dill weed
\nsalt and pepper to taste<\/p>\n

Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium casserole dish. In a large bowl, mix the soup, milk, water, chicken, rice, green beans, cheddar cheese, onion, and garlic. Season with parsley, basil, dill, salt, and pepper. Transfer to the prepared casserole dish. Bake 1 1\/2 hours in the preheated oven, until rice is tender. If water is absorbed too quickly, add more as needed.<\/p>\n

Serving Suggestion<\/strong>
\nBrighten your plates with kitten paws and tails. Use them to garnish the meal like parsley.<\/p>\n
