The Beltway Uniparty is looking forward to Mittens taking over for Hatch. They see him as the new \u201cJohn McCain,\u201d someone who will \u201cReach across the aisle\u201d and give the Progressive Democrats everything they want. Here are some of the details from The Washington Compost<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n In more ways than one, followers of traditional Republican orthodoxy are facing an emotional inflection point this week. <\/b><\/p>\n Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), at home battling an aggressive form of brain cancer, will not attend this weekend\u2019s Munich Security Conference, an annual gathering of foreign policy leaders from NATO nations that has become a central clearinghouse for global security matters and a celebration of Western values and democratic institutions. <\/b><\/p>\n Yeah, I\u2019m having a conspiracy moment here.<\/p>\n McCain, an avatar of all of the above, has been a regular attendee for decades. Last year, less than a month after President Trump took office, he stole the show with a speech that denounced the new president\u2019s refusal to condemn Russian President Vladimir Putin. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cOur fellow citizens seem to be flirting with authoritarianism and romanticizing it as our moral equivalent,\u201d McCain said there last February. <\/b><\/p>\n John McSlime despises President Trump. Why? Because Donald Trump won where McSlime lost. McSlime has also been a very big interventionist, ready and willing to send American troops anywhere<\/a> that might benefit his benefactors in the United Fruit company<\/a>. This puts him at odds with President Trump who mirrors the American population\u2019s tendency towards isolationism. (Stay out unless we are directly threatened, but if we go, make sure we utterly destroy that which we see as a threat)<\/p>\n But with McCain\u2019s retreat comes the reemergence of another man: Mitt Romney, his political rival for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination. Romney had been scheduled to begin his campaign for senator from Utah on Thursday, but he delayed the announcement Wednesday \u201cout of respect for the victims and their families\u201d of a shooting at a South Florida high school. <\/b><\/p>\n Romney\u2019s reasoning wasn\u2019t \u201cOut of respect,\u201d for the families, it was fear of being overshadowed by the horror of that scumbag\u2019s actions. Like McSlime, it\u2019s all about Mittens Romney.<\/p>\n It\u2019s not clear how Romney, a heavy favorite to win, would approach his role as a senator, particularly in the era of Trump. His aides say that on the campaign trail he will avoid the role of chief foil to the president. <\/b><\/p>\n Oh I think we know what his approach will be. He said it. His goal is to \u201cStop Trump!\u201d As to his being the \u201cHeavy favorite?\u201d I wouldn\u2019t count on it. I don\u2019t make any claims to the mindset of the voters in Utah, but the only reason Mittens thinks he can win is his religion. He, like a majority of voters in Utah, is a member of the Church of Later Day Saints. He\u2019s counting on that putting him over the top.<\/p>\n But at times, Romney has sounded like just that \u2014 and a defender of Western values, and a deep antagonist of Putin and a free-market globalist. <\/b><\/p>\n Oh really? Please explain.<\/p>\n Romney took to Twitter, for instance, to lash out at Trump last month after The Washington Post reported that the president, in a meeting with senators, said that he did not want more immigrants from countries such as Haiti or in Africa, using an obscenity to describe such nations.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe poverty of an aspiring immigrant\u2019s nation of origin is as irrelevant as their race,\u201d Romney tweeted. \u201cThe sentiment attributed to POTUS is inconsistent [with] America\u2019s history and antithetical to American values.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n And now we see Mittens for what he is. Another out of touch, big government, open borders Globalist. Somehow, I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what the voters in Utah want right now. Of course, as far as the Establishment Republicans are concerned, what the voters actually want isn\u2019t important.<\/p>\n Friends of both Romney and McCain say Romney\u2019s willingness to jump back into the political arena provides them with another high-profile antagonist to Trump\u2019s America-first worldview. <\/b><\/p>\n And this is why a lot of \u201cRepublicans\u201d are going to face primary challengers this year, and why others have given up any hope of being reelected.<\/p>\n Plenty of other Republicans on Capitol Hill maintain those traditional Republican values of global dominance and free trade, but most of their voices have been quieted in the era of Trump. <\/b><\/p>\n And who might these \u201cTraditional Republicans\u201d be?<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019ll have a big impact. He comes with immediate gravitas, credibility and stature, and it will be a whole new power structure, I think, in the Senate, as people gravitate to him,\u201d Senator Jeff Flake, (Rino-AZ), said of Romney. <\/b><\/p>\n He\u2019s also going to bring a truckload of baggage with him. Can we say \u201cRomneycare?\u201d Sure we can! As for Flake, he\u2019s history. Both he and McSlime have lied to the Arizona voters for the last time. In Flake\u2019s case, he knows he has no chance at all in the Republican primary, so he\u2019s quit. McDiaperStain? He\u2019ll be dead soon, but not soon enough. He should be forced from Congress on medical grounds. He is no longer of sound mind. (If he ever was)<\/p>\n The anti-Trump Republicans need all the help they can get. McCain returned to Arizona before Christmas and has not appeared in the Senate since. Flake is retiring at the end of this year. Sen. Bob Corker (Tenn.), after a public dispute with Trump about his behavior related to race riots in Charlottesville, announced that he, too, would retire. <\/b><\/p>\n The thing about the Deep State swamp dwellers of the Beltway Uniparty. They lie. A lot.<\/p>\n Corker is reconsidering whether to run for reelection, but he probably would do so only if Trump supports his bid \u2014 a move that might make criticism of the president more difficult. <\/b><\/p>\n Corker has his own problems with the GOP primary if he runs. First, he will be called a two timing liar, which he is. The second problem is Obama\u2019s Iran treaty. Corker was the GOP point man for pushing it in the Senate. Basically, this weasel had Obama\u2019s back as he sold out the United States. Of course, Corker, like most of the Establishment Republicans, (When they aren\u2019t sitting around their country clubs sipping gin and tonic), is totally out of touch with the mood of the Republican base.<\/p>\n Senators in both parties say that in world travels, gravitas matters. World leaders take McCain far more seriously than any other senator traveling abroad. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cWhen John McCain speaks, the world listens,\u201d Sen. Lindsey O.
