Good day all. The Progressives of New York City are at it again. Now they want to ban people from walking and smoking at the same time.<\/p>\n

Now let me be honest. I don\u2019t smoke. I don\u2019t like being around smokers. I dislike the smell of cigarette smoke blowing in my face as I happen to walk past someone. I really don\u2019t like being next to a smoker who reeks of stale tobacco smoke. Saying all that, if you want to suck in smoke, go right ahead. It\u2019s your body, feel free to wreck it. The problem here is that there are always people who don\u2019t like something and then say \u201cThere ought to be a law!\u201d Here is what some totalitarian idiot wants to do from Fox 5 NYC<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

If you don’t smoke and you find yourself walking behind someone who does, it can be unpleasant. Now a New York City Councilman wants to do something about it. <\/b><\/p>\n

“My bill is very simple, no smoking and walking on New York City Sidewalks,” said Queens Councilman Peter Koo (Dist. 20). <\/b><\/p>\n

His bill would make it a misdemeanor to walk while smoking, likely punishable by a fine of $50. <\/b><\/p>\n

I did a quick look up on this guy. He\u2019s basically a cipher. Originally a Republican, he switched to Democrat. I suspect he thinks this is an easy win against something most people these days don\u2019t like, smoking. Needless to say, the affected parties aren\u2019t to thrilled with being further restricted.<\/p>\n

Smokers, already banned from lighting up in public parks among many other places in the city, weren’t thrilled at the idea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I’m not standing in one spot, it’s not gonna happen,” said Ian, a smoker in Flushing. “As I’m walking, it’s outside, I’m not blowing it in anyone’s faces.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is going to be a complete waste of police resources, and with a very good chance of going sideways. We\u2019ve already had one incident of a cop killing someone who was selling singles, (Single cigarettes). Granted, it wasn\u2019t the intent, but the guy is still dead.<\/p>\n

Smoking while standing in one spot would still be allowed. While some questioned whether a ban on walking and smoking would infringe on civil liberties, Koo said he’s not concerned. <\/b><\/p>\n

“This bill is not against smoking just don’t do both together,” Koo said.<\/b><\/p>\n

Spoken like a true totalitarian. I fully expect this bill to pass into law, since this is New York City, which is a constitutional rights free zone. I also expect that the law of unintended consequences will kick in shortly thereafter, either with a smoker getting killed or some police officer getting beaten to a pulp. But at least Koos will feel good about doing something, and after all, for Progressives, it\u2019s all about \u201cThe Feelz.\u201d<\/p>\n
