Greetings everyone, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. I don\u2019t know about you, but I\u2019m tired of the Blithering idiot\u2019s rantings and ravings about everything in the Multiverse. So, in the spirit of \u201cTaking a break today\u201d I have a recipe I just tried this morning.<\/p>\n

Basically, I had a hankering for grilled tomatoes after watching something on Netflix. The movie doesn\u2019t matter, it was just a throw away moment. What I saw was someone being observed eating grilled tomatoes, and I had a thought. \u201cI want to try those!\u201d<\/p>\n

Now I don\u2019t own an actual grill so there was no way I could actually grill some tomatoes. Instead, I went to allrecipes.com<\/b><\/a> and did a search, and came up with Italian Nutthouse Broiled Tomatoes<\/a>. They looked simple to make and very tasty, so I made a quick run to the supermarket and got what I needed.<\/p>\n

This morning I tried them with a nice fried egg, sunny side up and some corned beef hash. All I can say is YUM! I should have taken a picture, but I was hungry, they were there and..well, you know what had to happen. In any case, here is the recipe in case you might want to give it a try. First the ingredients. To begin with, this recipe is for up to 4 servings. Since I was by myself, I cut it back to one.<\/p>\n

4 tomatoes, cut into 1\/4 inch slices<\/strong><\/p>\n

1\/4 cup olive oil<\/b><\/p>\n

1 teaspoon kosher salt<\/b><\/p>\n

1 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste<\/b><\/p>\n

4 cloves garlic, minced<\/b><\/p>\n

1 pinch monosodium glutamate (MSG) (optional)<\/b><\/p>\n

3 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano<\/b><\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t bother with the MSG. I don\u2019t particularly care for it and I know that some people have a reaction to it. Preparation was quite simple though. I sliced up the tomato into three sections, put a little olive oil on it and then the rest of the ingredients. Then it was into my toaster oven.<\/p>\n

Preheat your oven’s broiler. Cover a broiler pan or baking sheet with aluminum foil, and coat with non-stick cooking spray.<\/b><\/p>\n

Arrange tomato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle each slice lightly with olive oil, spreading oil evenly with finger if necessary. Season with salt, pepper, garlic, monosodium glutamate (if using), and oregano. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top.<\/b><\/p>\n

Broil, 3 inches from the heat until cheese is browned and bubbly, 3 minutes.<\/b><\/p>\n

It actually took a bit longer then three minutes, probably due to not bothering with the preheating. Still, it was quick and simple to make. Clean up was incredibly easy. Clean the knife, clean the cutting board I used when slicing the tomato and tossing the foil into the trash once it had cooled off. Then it was eating time.<\/p>\n

It was rather good. In fact, I think with a few modifications, it will be exceptionally good. It was easy to make and easy to clean up. That\u2019s all I ask for when I cook. I hope you wil enjoy it as much as I did.<\/p>\n
