When President Trump was elected, he understood what a threat the EPA was to America and the environment. The agency was staffed with \u201cTrue Believers\u201d who never let the rule of law get in the way of their goals of \u201cSaving the Planet.\u201d This is why he brought in Scott Pruitt to clean house, and cleaning house he has been doing. The True Believers have been busy trying to suborn and undermine both President Trump and Director Pruitt. Now we can add \u201cThreat to national security\u201d to the list. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n Environmental red tape is causing \u201clong delays\u201d for border agents as they try to fill tunnels used to smuggle people and dangerous drugs into the U.S. from Mexico, according to border officials and Republican lawmakers who have discussed the problem with agents. Frustrated agents complain the lengthy federal review process can stall critical tunnel-plugging efforts for months after passageways are first discovered.<\/b><\/p>\n The tunnels are being used to move people, illegal drugs and even fake pharmaceuticals. But regulations stemming from laws like the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act are putting “remediation” on hold.<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cI heard firsthand accounts from our Border Patrol agents that environmental red tape is hindering their ability to secure the border,\u201d Utah Rep. Rob Bishop, the Republican chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources, told Fox News this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n These tunnels started being dug and discovered about 15 or so years ago. The drug cartels dug them to move drugs into the United States. They saw it as a fairly cheap and easy way to get through the increasingly tough security measures now in place in the airways and sea lanes that were previously used.<\/p>\n This is the same thing the Israelis have been dealing with from the Palestinians on the Gaza Strip. Since they put up the prototype for the \u201cTrump Wall\u201d, Hamas has been digging under it and using the tunnels to get terrorists in with their weapons. When Israel finds a tunnel, they collapse it in very short order. For them, it means protecting their children. Apparently, in the mindset of the militant EnviroThugs in the EPA Bureaucracy, dead children are good children, and the best way to achieve their goal is to block the Border Patrol from filling these things in.<\/p>\n A Customs and Border Protection official confirmed to Fox News they’ve encountered \u201clong delays\u201d in remediating tunnels, acknowledging environmental regulations make up a \u201cgood portion of the delay.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n The official said other delays come with \u201cclearing out a tunnel, mapping out the tunnel underground to know where to remediate from above, getting funding for the remediation and fulfilling a contract to a construction company to carry out the remediation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Some of that is just plain logistics. Finding out where the tunnel goes, as well as making sure you don\u2019t do any damage to property when you fill it in, is very important. Also, determining the best way to collapse the thing, considering the other parts, takes some seriously specialized engineering. Then, of course, paying for it is also something that generally requires congressional budgetary action. The last thing that is needed is some pin-headed envirowhacko stalling things because a precious worm might be affected.<\/p>\n One particularly protracted response revolved around a sophisticated border tunnel — the length of three football fields — discovered in the town of Naco, Ariz., in February 2015. Photos show the tunnel complete with wooden supports and a cement shaft with a hydraulic lift. <\/b>Fox News learned it took between nine months and a year before it was fully remediated. Agents were told it was because of environmental concerns.<\/b><\/p>\n Why is the EPA even involved in any of this? Do they think the drug Cartels spent one second thinking about the environment when they started tunneling. Of course they didn\u2019t! This is something Congress should be helping him with. They could also use this to shiv the CommuNazis furing the midterms. \u201cThey are aiding the drug cartels in poisoning our Children!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBorder security should never take a backseat to the EPA, when you consider the dangerous drugs that come into this country, such as fentanyl,” Brandon Judd, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, said in an interview. “That tunnel was assuredly used to bring fentanyl into this country, and other dangerous drugs. They don\u2019t use tunnels like that simply to bring in illegal immigrants. They use those for their high-dollar products, such as illicit drugs.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n Tunnels are most common in the San Diego sector, according to the Natural Resources Committee. But even the most seemingly simple tunnels to fix can take several months. In 2014, according to the committee, San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents discovered a small tunnel that used a rail system to move items under the border into the United States. <\/b><\/p>\n The tunnel itself was nearly 4 feet, 6 inches high and 2 feet wide. It ran 2,500 feet in length and ran about 1,000 feet into the United States. The area contained a small wetland. It took about four months to complete a bird study and fill in the tunnel. he committee has cited that example as a \u201cbest-case scenario,\u201d in comparison with other tunnels, where remediation has taken longer because of various regulations. <\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
