While an accurate statement, Admiral Yamamoto, (The architect of the Pearl Harbor attack), never actually said it. Yamamoto was quite familiar with the United States and America, having spent some serious time here before the war. It\u2019s the main reason he never wanted Japan to go to war with us. He knew what were were capable of. He also knew that Americans are the most heavily armed civilian population on earth.<\/p>\n
Since then, Americans have only gotten better armed. This, of course, has always concerned the Ruling Elites, both here and abroad. All those Americans with all those guns make it very difficult for those who think they know what\u2019s best to actually impose their ideas on us. Time Magazine has an article on this and it\u2019s frightening…if you are a Progressive Elitist<\/b>:<\/p>\n
There are over 1 billion firearms in the world today, including 857 million in civilian hands \u2014 with American men and women the dominant owners, according to a study released Monday. <\/b><\/p>\n
The Small Arms Survey says 393 million of the civilian-held firearms, 46 percent, are in the United States, which is \u201cmore than those held by civilians in the other top 25 countries combined.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cThe key to the United States, of course, is its unique gun culture,\u201d the report\u2019s author, Aaron Karp, said at a news conference. \u201cAmerican civilians buy an average of 14 million new firearms every year, and that means the United States is an overwhelming presence on civilian markets.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n Actually, that number may be on the low side. Most Americans who own guns generally own more then one…or two…or five.<\/p>\n The report said the numbers include legal and illegal firearms in civilian hands, ranging from improvised craft weapons to factory-made handguns, rifles, shotguns and, in some countries, even machine guns. <\/b><\/p>\n And if it hadn\u2019t been for that unconstitutional law that President Reagan stupidly signed, (Hey, even great president make mistakes once in a while), there would be a lot more automatic weapons in American Citizens hands.<\/p>\n The estimate of over 1 billion firearms worldwide at the end of 2017 also includes 133 million such weapons held by government military forces and 22.7 million by law enforcement agencies, it said. <\/b><\/p>\n So, all those who like to say \u201cYou\u2019re going to fight the army?\u201d Do the math. There is also the little detail that the average American gun owner tends to be a far better shot then the average law enforcement official, and, to some extent, the average soldier.<\/p>\n Karp said the new global estimate is significantly higher than the 875 million firearms estimated in the last survey in 2007, and the 650 million civilian-held firearms at that time \u2014 mostly due to increasing civilian ownership. <\/b><\/p>\n While the United States was dominant in civilian ownership in 2007 and 2017, the report said the U.S. is only fifth today in military firearms holdings, behind Russia, China, North Korea and Ukraine. It is also fifth in law enforcement holdings, behind Russia, China, India and Egypt.<\/b><\/p>\n You will note that all of those countries, with the exception of India, are police states. India also has a large population and a fairly large supply of cannon fodder, and they need guns.<\/p>\n The Small Arms Survey released its study to coincide with the third U.N. conference to assess progress on implementing a 2001 program known as Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms, which includes marking weapons so they can be traced. The conference opened Monday and ends June 29. <\/b><\/p>\n The goal of the United Nations has been, and always will be, the enslavement of the human race to the ruling elites. The first step, the priority step, is the removal of any means of self defense from their future slaves. There is only one way to deal with the UN.<\/p>\n Small Arms Survey director Eric Berman stressed that the Geneva-based research and policy institute isn\u2019t an advocacy organization. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t advocate disarmament. We are not against guns,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat we want to do, and what we have done successfully for the last 19 years, is to be able to provide authoritative information and analysis for governments so that they can work to address illicit proliferation and reduce it \u2014 and to reduce also the incidents of armed violence.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n According to the report, the countries with the largest estimated number of civilian-held legal and illegal firearms at the end of 2017 were the United States with 393.3 million, India with 71.1 million, China with 49.7 million, Pakistan with 43.9 million and Russia with 17.6 million.<\/b><\/p>\n Some of those numbers seem…off to me. The police states generally are very good in dealing with civilian firearms. They don\u2019t let people have any and imprison or execute those that do have them. I suspect the authors of the report are making estimates and consider most of those firearms as \u201cIllicit.\u201d<\/p>\n But Aaron Karp said the more important number is the estimated rate of civilian firearms holdings per 100 residents \u2014 and in that table India, China and Russia rank much lower than the U.S. and outside the top 25 while Pakistan ranks 20th. <\/b><\/p>\n At the top of that ranking are Americans, who own 121 firearms for every 100 residents. They are followed by Yemenis at 53, Montenegro and Serbia with 39, Canada and Uruguay about 35, and Finland, Lebanon and Iceland around 32. <\/b><\/p>\n How many of those are legally held outside of the United States? That doesn\u2019t seem to be answered here. I expect Iceland, Finland and Canada are accurate. The United States? I still think they are low balling the number. As to the levels of firearm ownership and violence? Yeah, it isn\u2019t working out the way the Progressive think it should.<\/p>\n Anna Alvazzi del Frate, the institute\u2019s program director, said that \u201cthe countries with the highest level of firearm violence \u2014 they don\u2019t rank high in terms of ownership per person.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cSo what we see is that there is no direct correlation at the global level between firearm ownership and violence,\u201d she said. <\/b><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
