Good day all. It\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve done a film review, although I have seen a number of movies this year. However, yesterday I was bored and decided to see the latest installment of the Predator franchise.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The first Predator movie came out in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger with a followup in 1990. After that came a series of films best watched on Netflix. They weren\u2019t worth going to the theaters to see. I was not expecting much of the latest iteration. I was pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

First, when you walk into the theater, don\u2019t expect high drama or a deep plot and character development. This is a classic \u201cShoot \u2018em up!\u201d film with a high body count. Once you check your brain at the door, you will have a good time. The theater wasn\u2019t packed, although this was the opening weekend. A lot of people, myself included, tend to wait a week or so with movies like The Predator to hear what the early goers think.<\/p>\n

The Critics, being paid to criticize, were mixed. I didn\u2019t read any reviews beforehand so I wasn\u2019t biased one way or the other. The movie pays tribute to the 1987 and 1990 versions of the film, but doesn\u2019t really say anything regarding the others. I think the writers understood that the less said the better.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The plot, such as it is, was basic. It opens with what appears to be a space battle between a predator ship and other ships. It\u2019s shot up but manages to reach Earth. Next we have \u201cThe Hero\u201d looking through a rifle scope at bad people. Just as he\u2019s about to fire, the predator ship is seen coming towards him and not in a lot of control.<\/p>\n

The hero takes his shot and then ducks as the ship crashes near him. I\u2019m going to jump around a bit here. The hero finds some of the predators gear and realizing he is dealing with \u201cSpace Aliens\u201d and that he might be disbelieved, grabs some of it.<\/p>\n

The Predator shows up, but our Hero has accidentally put one of the predators weapons on and shoots him. Sadly, the predator has made lunch of the others in his team, and our hero beats a hasty retreat. He arranges for the gear to be mailed back to the United States. He\u2019s next seen being questioned by a shrink, obviously as a way to bury him somewhere since he\u2019s seen things he shouldn’t have.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

His package arrives at his wife\u2019s house and his son takes it and opens it up. His son appears to be autistic, but high functioning and VERY bright. He starts figuring out what the stuff does and gets some of it working. This brings on another problem. The other predator.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He\u2019s on a mission to recover or destroy what the first predator brought, and so he\u2019s going to go after the little boy. Now we have the plot. Dad gets others from the psych ward to help him. Scientist who was going to be killed by the mercenaries because she knows to much joins them and then it’s non-stop bang, boom, pow.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll let you go see the movie for yourselves and won\u2019t go into any further details. As I said, I was satisfied and entertained, which is all I ask. There was a couple of \u201cPolitically Correct\u201d moments, mostly dealing with the Global Warming religion, but otherwise, it was just good fun. I wouldn\u2019t spend full ticket price on it, but as a matinee, it\u2019s fine. It\u2019s also not for children due to the levels of violence and gore. Still, if you like action and adventure movies and aren\u2019t all that interested in reality, go on in and see it.<\/p>\n
