What has been interesting is how the IG’s report was covered. The Democrat Propaganda Ministry, formally the Main Stream Media, basically buried the report. Here’s what CBS News had to say:

An independent watchdog found that former FBI Director James Comey did not release classified information to the public, although he did violate agency policy by taking home unclassified memos and ensuring that they would be leaked to the press.

As I understand it, the Inspector General relied on the classification levels provided by the Department of Justice. Still, the report was not kind to Comey.

The inspector general said in an 83-page report that Comey “violated applicable policies” related to his FBI employment agreement and that the memos were official FBI records. The probe found that the memos Comey leaked contained confidential, but not classified, information.

As you can see, CBS News chose to “Cherry Pick” the best possible results from the report. While they didn’t lie, they did obfuscate the truth. In a report from that noted conservative web site, The Hill, the IG actually recommended that Comey be criminally charged.

Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz’s team referred Comey for possible prosecution under the classified information protection laws, but Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors working for Attorney General William Barr reportedly have decided to decline prosecution — a decision that’s likely to upset Comey’s conservative critics.

When I read that AG Barr had decided not to prosecute, I was a tad upset, but then I recalled that another investigation is currently underway that could put Comey and the other conspirators away for a very long time. Still, I think he should have been perp walked to the court house.

Prosecutors found the IG’s findings compelling but decided not to bring charges because they did not believe they had enough evidence of Comey’s intent to violate the law, according to multiple sources.

Oh I think Comey knew what he was doing was illegal. He just didn’t care. Why? He literally believes that he is above the law and can do no wrong. Still, I can understand where they might not want to waste resources on this.

Although a technical violation, the DOJ did not want to “make its first case against the Russia investigators with such thin margins and look petty and vindictive,” a source told me, explaining the DOJ’s rationale.

Yeah, he probably would have been fined, nothing more. Another reason they might want to hold back is the other investigation now underway by the U.S. Attorney in Connecticut.

But Comey and others inside the FBI and the DOJ during his tenure still face legal jeopardy in ongoing probes by the IG and Barr-appointed special prosecutor John Durham. Those investigations are focused on the origins of the Russia investigation that included a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant targeting the Trump campaign at the end of the 2016 election, the source said.

“There are significant issues emerging with how the FISA was handled and other conduct in the investigation, and everyone involved remains under scrutiny,” a second source said.

The FISA warrants that were granted turned out to be based on the thoroughly discredited “Steele Dossier” that basically said that President-Elect Donald Trump was working for the Russians. By the time of the first FISA request, it was well known in the Justice Department that the dossier was a load of garbage.

Comey and the other conspirators lied to the FISA judges to get and renew the wiretap warrants. This answers the question of why no charges. Why go for the “Slap on the wrsit” convictions when you can get so much more? Even President Trump, who was a victim of Comey’s misdeeds approved of the decision not to prosecute Comey. According to Fox News:

President Trump said Friday that James Comey is “lucky” that Attorney General Bill Barr did not prosecute him, claiming the “disastrous” Justice Department inspector general report released this week exposed an illegal scheme to strip away his and his supporters’ rights.

“The fact that James Comey was not prosecuted for the absolutely horrible things he did just shows how fair and reasonable Attorney General Bill Barr is,” Trump tweeted on Friday. “So many people and experts that I have watched and read would have taken an entirely different course.
