Since the people they don\u2019t like also tend to be conservatives, Republicans and Constitutionalists, you can see why the GOP is actively looking at breaking up some of these tech companies under the anti-trust statutes. Well, it appears that a Republican billionaire, (There are a few I hear), decided to put his money where his mouth is and has bought up a large stake in Twitter. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n A billionaire Republican megadonor has purchased a “sizable” stake in Twitter and “plans to push” to oust CEO Jack Dorsey <\/a>among other changes, according to new reports, raising the prospect of a shocking election-year shakeup of the social media platform that conservatives have long accused of overt left-wing political bias.<\/b><\/p>\n Paul Singer\u2019s Elliott Management Corp. has already nominated four directors to Twitter’s board, a development first reported by Bloomberg News<\/a>, citing several sources familiar with the arrangement. The outlet noted that unlike other prominent tech CEOs, Dorsey didn’t have voting control over Twitter because the company had just one class of stock; and he has long been a target<\/a> for removal given Twitter’s struggling user growth numbers and stock performance. <\/b><\/p>\n Twitter\u2019s actions of late, kicking people off because they say things that the management and employees don\u2019t like, while protecting actual terrorists, has angered many investors. It doesn\u2019t help that the business model is a joke. Twitter\u2019s stock price has finally moved back to about where it was when it first went public in 2013. They also don\u2019t pay a dividend, which is pretty standard in the Tech industry. (Microsoft does pay a dividend)<\/p>\n Singer, who opposed President Trump’s campaign in 2016, has since changed his tune, raising the prospect that some of the changes to Twitter could make the platform a friendlier place for pro-Trump users. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Singer donated $24 million to Republican and right-leaning groups in the 2016 election. <\/b><\/p>\n “As you know, Paul was very much involved with the anti-Trump or as they say ‘Never Trump,” and Paul just left [the White House] and he’s given us his total support and it\u2019s all about unification,” Trump said in 2017. “So, I want to thank Paul Singer for being here and coming up to the office. He was a very strong opponent and now he’s a very strong ally and I appreciate that.”<\/b><\/p>\n Like many RINO style Republicans, they saw that President Trump actually meant what he said and moved to keep his promises. President Trump\u2019s policies, especially deregulating and cutting taxes, (He hasn\u2019t been able to cut spending the way he would like since this is controlled by the legislative branch), have led to the lowest unemployment rates in decades. Considering what the other candidates said back in 2016, and what their history after being elected showed, many Never Trumpers have changed their tune and started backing President Trump big time.<\/p>\n Twitter has long rankled not only conservatives but also independent-minded commentators and left-of-center activists. In 2018, feminist Meghan Murphy slammed Twitter for the “dangerous” banning and silencing of users who didn’t follow the platform’s guidelines. Murphy was banned after writing that “men aren’t women,” in defiance of Twitter’s stated views on gender.<\/b><\/p>\n This led to Ms. Murphy being banned from Twitter. She had the nerve to go against their orthodoxy, and she was promptly punished for straying from the Progressive totalitarian path. Because of this and other idiotic moved,\u00a0 Twitter has started getting hammered both legally and legislatively over it\u2019s practice of banning people they, as a platform, think should be silenced.<\/p>\n California GOP Rep. Devin Nunes<\/a> last year filed a major lawsuit seeking $250 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages against Twitter and a handful of its users, accusing the social media site of “shadow-banning conservatives” to secretly hide their posts, systematically censoring opposing viewpoints, and totally “ignoring” lawful complaints of repeated abusive behavior. <\/b><\/p>\n “Twitter is a machine,” Nunes’ personal attorney, Steven S. Biss, told Fox News. “It is a modern-day Tammany Hall. Congressman Nunes intends to hold Twitter fully accountable for its abusive behavior and misconduct.” <\/b><\/p>\n I honestly don\u2019t know if that suit will work. Technically, Twitter is a private company and can bounce anyone they want. The 1st<\/sup> Amendment is designed to protect people who speak out from government retribution. However, Twitter, Facebook and other major platforms have also become the new \u201cTown Hall\u201d where people would come to give speeches and air their views.<\/p>\n What\u2019s sad about the people running Twitter, Facebook, Google and other major platforms is that they don\u2019t see what they\u2019re doing as wrong. Since none of them have ever studied history, they don\u2019t understand that they are doing the exact same things that they claim to want to prevent. They scream \u201cFascist! Racist! Sexist!\u201d and block people from commenting, including providing actual information, not comprehending that they are doing exactly what every single tyrannical government or political entity has done throughout history.<\/p>\n It will be interesting to see how Paul Singer\u2019s move changes things inside Twitter. If the spoiled brats running things act out in their usual manner, they\u2019ll probably walk out and demand that Mr. Singer and those working for him be forced out.
