This includes the company I work for. Obviously, I won\u2019t name names. (I enjoy having a job) We were told in a global meeting that unless you had a good reason to be in an office, you would be working at home for the next few weeks. No one in the company has the beer virus, but \u201cWe want to be safe.\u201d<\/p>\n
The nature of my job does not make it easy to work at home. I can be called on to move around huge amounts of data for clients. Doing so from my home office will quickly saturate my internet connection, and quickly max out my data cap. (Thank you Comcrap), We\u2019re working on workarounds and we will do our job, and the company will take care of our customers needs. Currently, we only have one person in our office, and to be blunt, Archer is not handling things to well.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Next, we have the idiots on Wall Street. Unless you have been living in a cave, you will have noticed that the Stock Market has dropped massively over the last couple of weeks. The Morons in the Media are shouting out that \u201cWe are heading for a massive recession! It\u2019s the start of a new Depression! It\u2019s all Trump\u2019s fault!! We must have socialism in order to survive!!\u201d<\/p>\n The reality is a bit different. Yes, I\u2019ve lost quite a bit of value in my stock portfolio, however it\u2019s only on paper. The market is bouncing like crazy because of computers and stupid analysts who couldn\u2019t analyze their way out of a wet paper bag. Even metals like gold and silver are not doing to well. However, eventually, all that cash has to go somewhere and that\u2019s into the stock market. Many stocks are now undervalued and are a good bargain if you know what you are doing.<\/p>\n The reason the markets have plummeted are many. We have seen the greatest run up in the Dow Jones and other markets in history. We were long overdue for a correction. The Beer Virus gave the traders an excuse. It didn\u2019t help that China, where the Wuhan Flu originated, basically shut down for business. Thanks to meathead CEO\u2019s, way to much of the world\u2019s manufacturing base has been shipped to China.<\/p>\n This includes a lot of pharmaceuticals. However, a few things are happening now. First, China is reopening for business now that they\u2019re getting their outbreak under control. Second, a lot of companies are coning to the understanding that shipping all their manufacturing to a single country is a really bad idea. The move to return a lot of manufacturing to the United States looks like it will be increasing, big time. (Unless the Democratic CommuNazis win in November, then the economy will crash into a depression)<\/p>\n As for the coronavirus, frankly, it isn\u2019t all that bad. Yes, it\u2019s quite unpleasant to catch, and it will kill a small percentage of those who contract it. However, the overwhelming majority will fully recover and return to their lives. One of the issues is that a number of people have the Beer virus and think it\u2019s just a cold or minor flu. Currently, more people have died globally of the standard flu then have actually contracted the Beer Virus. You don\u2019t hear the Mostly Stupid Media say that now, do you?<\/p>\n President Trump has been keeping an eye on things, and generally listening to medical professionals. He\u2019s blocking travel from countries that have outbreaks of the Beer virus, (Which is annoying the Eurotrash politicians), and he\u2019s been working to block illegals who may be carriers from getting into the United States. Of course, we have the usual suspects who are still trying to throw open the borders.<\/p>\n Finally we come the panic stricken idiots that seem to think the best way to protect themselves from the coronavirus is to buy up all the available toilet paper on Earth. We have people buying hundreds of roles of this stuff. They\u2019re also cleaning out things like hand sanitizers and bottled water.<\/p>\n Saturday, I made a \u201cCostco Run\u201d to pick up a few things. (No, I didn\u2019t buy toilet paper, I have plenty thank you) I got to the local Costco about 20 minutes after it opened. Usually it\u2019s fairly light in the morning. Not today. They actually had a traffic cop directing traffic IN THE DAMN PARKING LOT!<\/p>\n I can see why Costco asked the city to send over a cop. They don\u2019t want anyone to get hurt. The lot was about 75% full, but I had no problem finding a space. In fact, as I drove past the police officer, I rolled my window down and asked \u201cAre they kidding? Really?\u201d He knew what I meant and laughed right back at me.<\/p>\n When I got inside, it was packed as is the usual case. As expected, the toilet paper and paper towels were gone. The bottled water I usually buy, and yes, I do buy 4 cases at a time), was limited to 2 cases per customer per day. Understandable of course. What caught me by surprise was that my preferred brand of orange juice<\/a>, that they normally carry, wasn\u2019t available. Other then that, I found all the items I needed including some store brand Orange Juice. Then I went to check out. Oh God! I must have been insane to go.<\/p>\n Yeah, I was in line for a good 30 minutes. The saving grace was that most people, like myself, were there to pick up just a few items. Maybe a third had filled one or more carts. Surprisingly paper napkins were in great demand. (Probably to replace the toilet paper)<\/p>\n After that I hit the local supermarket to pick up some frozen vegetables. The shelves looked like a plague of locusts had gone through. The frozen vegetables were seriously depleted. I found what I needed, if not exactly what I wanted. I also found my preferred Orange Juice brand and picked up a couple of bottles. (I usually by a case of 4 when at Costco) Then I decided to wander over to the paper good section, where they keep paper towels, toilet paper and napkins.<\/p>\n There were some more mature ladies there commenting on just how stupid this whole thing is. One of them had to be well into her 80\u2019s, and she was having none of this Beer virus nonsense. I made the comment that I had plenty of toilet paper and that I should sell it for $5 a sheet. That brought all of them to hysterics and they thought it was a great idea.<\/p>\n Seriously, this whole Covid-19 business is absolutely out of hand. If people catch it, they will feel like crap for a week or two and then they will recover. Tom Hanks, the actor\/director and his wife have been confirmed to be infected. He is in one of the at risk groups due to a chronic condition. I expect he and his wife will feel like crap for a while and then recover.
