Good day all. As we enter the 8th<\/sup> month of the lock down caused by panicking and power mad governors and mayors, and the massive economic disruptions caused by it, people have started rebelling and demanding an end to the lock-down.<\/p>\n

However, the various political hacks have, by and large, ignored the wishes of their constituents and have either minimally opened back up, or actually increased their suppression of the rights of the people. They have used the excuse of \u201cThe settled science!\u201d that this was the way to go. However, there is a very large group of medical and scientific professionals who are saying that the lock down was a really bad idea, and that it\u2019s long past time to open things back up.<\/p>\n

This group decided it was time to issue a declaration that it\u2019s time to rethink what we\u2019ve been doing and reopen America and the World. They have issued the Great Barrington Declaration<\/b><\/a>, which is an online petition explaining their reasoning and asking people the world over to sign. The Declaration opens with:<\/p>\n

As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection. <\/b><\/p>\n

Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health \u2013 leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.<\/b><\/p>\n

Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed. <\/b><\/p>\n

As of this posting, some 6,571 Medical & Public Health Scientists have signed the declaration, along with almost 14,000 Medical Practitioners. They have also opened the petition so that regular, non-medical people can sign this as well, and to date 188,649 people have signed the petition<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

I stumbled across the Great Barrington Declaration<\/b><\/a> purely by accident. I happened to be reading something and they mentioned it with a link. Curious, I followed it, read the Declaration<\/b><\/a> and promptly signed it. I\u2019ve also, during the writing of this post, been doing online searches to see what comes up. Since this goes against \u201cThe Narrative\u201d that The Wuhan Flu makes the Spanish flu look like the common cold, the results have been interesting.<\/p>\n

Google will bring it up<\/a>, but they will lead off with negative, Progressive sites saying that it\u2019s all bunk. Duck Duck Go<\/a> simply provides links and doesn\u2019t editorialize in favor of the totalitarian actions of governments that Googlag does. Bing is a bit more balanced<\/a> in their results then Googlag, but still shows some editorials in their opening search results. Apparently, Reddit is flat out censoring mentions about it. The American Institute for Economic Research<\/a> has an article on this. Finally, we have Lady Colin Campbell posting a Youtube video on the Great Barrington Declaration and why she supports it.<\/p>\n
