Representative Gabrielle Giffords has been shot and critically wounded in Tucson Arizona.<\/p>\n

Giffords, who was re-elected to a third term in November, was hosting a “Congress on Your Corner” event at a Safeway in northwest Tucson when a gunman ran up and started shooting, according to Peter Michaels, news director of Arizona Public Media.<\/p>\n

As of this posting, there have been conflicting reports on whether Rep Giffords has died or is alive but critically injured. At least 12 others were also wounded in the attack, and the shooter has been captured and taken into custody.<\/p>\n

I’ll post more as information becomes available.<\/p>\n
