A few weeks ago a news story popped up on my news feeds. It was a plan by the BATFE, (Bureau of Booze, Butts, Guns and things that go KABOOM), to reclassify a type of firearm known as the AR Pistol. Basically, they were going to declare them illegal and order them turned in. They have just announced that they have \u201cReconsidered.\u201d Here are the details from Breitbart<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) withdrew the guidance on its proposed AR pistol reclassification Wednesday. This is a stark reversal of the ATF\u2019s steady push toward changing rules and placing some AR pistols with stabilizer braces under the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA) and\/or Gun Control Act (GCA). <\/b><\/p>\n Here is a little detail for those not familiar with the AR pistol and wrist braces. Basically the AR pistol, and several other firearms, such as the Kris Vector, have been engineered with no buttstock and a short barrel. In the case of the AR pistol, it is still using a standard 5.56mm rifle cartridge. This can cause a serious problem with controlling the firearm when it is discharged. In some cases, it could twist out of the shooter\u2019s hand. The wrist brace is just that. It\u2019s not a buttstock, it is something that goes over the wrist and forearm providing a more secure hold.<\/p>\n On November 18, 2020, Breitbart News reported<\/a> that the ATF was working with President-Elect Joe Biden to go after AR pistols with stabilizer braces. This pursuit resulted in the ATF being posed to reevaluate and reclassify a number of AR pistols with stabilizer braces, placing them under the same registration and taxation rules as suppressors, machine guns, short-barreled shotguns, and short-barreled rifles. <\/b><\/p>\n And that would mean registering them, paying a $200 tax, getting fingerprinted, and in many cases, being forced to actually turn them in. I have used a firearm with a stabilizer brace, (Kris Vector), and while it does help a bit, (These pistols are rather heavy), I wasn\u2019t enamored with them. In other words, I wouldn\u2019t be interested in buying one. For those that do like them, this was a situation that sent up signal flares.<\/p>\n On December 22, 2020, Breitbart News informed<\/a> readers that the ATF had posted guidance for AR pistol reclassification to the Federal Register. On that same day, Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) and 89 other U.S. Reps. sent<\/a> a letter to the ATF demanding they reverse course and correct the \u201cinjustice\u201d of reclassifying AR pistols. <\/b><\/p>\n Yesterday, December 23rd<\/sup>, 2020, after repeated virtual blows to the back of the head, the BATF reconsidered their guidance.<\/p>\n The ATF\u2019s withdrawal announcement says: <\/b><\/p>\n Upon further consultation with the Department of Justice and the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, ATF is withdrawing, pending further Department of Justice review, the notice and request for comments entitled \u201cObjective Factors for Classifying Weapons with \u2018Stabilizing Braces\u2019,\u201d that was published on December 18, 2020. As explained in the notice, the proposed guidance was not a regulation. The notice informed and invited comment from the industry and public on a proposed guidance prior to issuing a final guidance document. <\/b><\/p>\n I heard that the public comments on this plan numbered in the 10\u2019s of thousands, and I doubt many of them were all that supportive of the BATF\u2019s plan to turn about a million Americans into criminals. I also suspect there were a few \u201cUnofficial\u201d comments to the ATF asking them if they were looking to get killed.<\/p>\n This plan was basically a test run of Dementia Joe\u2019s plans to ban the AR-15 and AK-47 series rifles by using the BATFE to reclassify them as firearms covered by the National Firearms Act along with any magazine of any type that held more then 10 rounds. If they do try to do this, it would turn easily 20-50 million Americans into criminals. More then likely, it would trigger the Civil War that the Progressive Liberal Democratic CommuNazis have been trying to start for the last 20 years. Merry Christmas and stay alert.
